Restriction to only one character for boss maps?

    Heya,

    I think some hardcore solo players will not like to see this. But can we get a restriction on maps like Horntail, zakum, neo tokyo bosses to enter them with only one character?
    Just like you only could enter with one character in the event map at the time?

    In some way i'm curious what kind of shifts this will bring to the game. Like a shift in economics, more teamplay?
    Think some of us wil profit of it. Ofcourse my pov might be narrowed down.
    So I'm open for other ways to look at this as well, so feel free to comment.

    you can't just break the entire way the server work.
    royals is heavy on multi clienting, people solo bosses / multi attack while playing with other people.
    if you don't like it, you dont have to do it, there is no reason to force it upon everyone (and probably make a lot of people quit the server).

    No, because I dont like to wait 2 hours for a boss run to form just because we can't find se to run.
    Also I dont like to run a boss for 1 hour just to end up with very little reward because I had to split it with 6 other people since no mules are allowed.
    Royals is a server based aroud multi clienting and muling, its a major part of what it is.
    If you were to suggest a new server to not allow multi clienting, I might be up for it. But royals is an existing server up for over 10 years, you can't just change how it works.
    People here (including myself) like to multi client, I like to solo bosses and attack on multiple chars at once and thats part of this server, if you were to forbid multi clienting I would just quit because royals would not be a good server without multi clienting and muling.
    I do like the fact that VL doesn't allow muling (not by disabling the enterance, by the boss mechanics) and I find it very fun, but if all bosses were like that, it would just not be fun.
    I still don't really understand why you care so much about other people multi attacking / muling, you dont have to do it yourself, you can play a single char.

    You don't get it cause you doing it. A lot of new people and people with less time get less chances this way to particiapte and get good gear.
    If you dont like smaller rewards, but as solo attacker on these bosses like HT, NT you breeze through these economics where good weps go up 30-35b +. And you might say you don't need it.
    But a lot of VL groups are going for a smaller group.. Again for that same reason.. to split with less people. These groups are not accesible for anyone. Cause u need some decent stats.
    It's dividing and this server will end up with only a few group of people controlling everything.
    That's why i bother a bit with this system.

    What you are describing is the oposite of how economy works.
    Disable multiclienting = less boss runs = less supply = price go up.
    so mw20 / gen etc price would just be higher.
    And rich people would stay rich and strong, and they would continue to run in their own small groups, so I dont really see how you would "solve" anything (I dont think there is anything to solve).
    Most people on the server don't multi attack, they have 1 mule at most, and nothing stopping anyone from making a mule, it doesn't require you to invest 100b into a char to make se/cr mule.
    Many people on the server run bosses with a single char, bad gear and no mules.
    Anyway, I dont really see any reason to continue aruging here, this wouldn't (and shouldn't) change because its part of what royals here, regardless of weather I comment here or not, I tried to explain to you why this change can't happen and i think I did it.

    It will take a long time before new players realize multi client players are a problem. As long as some people stay because of sunk cost, it wont be a problem to the server.

    What's a problem to the server is doing drastic change. Those who really hate multi-client have already quit, and those who stay can at least tolerate it. If change like eliminating multi-client is made, a lot people will quit because of it.

    Also even non-multi-client players benefit from multi-client. If every necessary piece requires a real person, many contents would be dead..

    This is not ture. The people who are doing VL couldn't control everything. The market controls. Ofc ppl want to sell RTK manual for 1.8b and HW for 2b like they did a few months ago. But the price is like 800m and 1.5b now. They can't control everything.

    Keep in mind every char can only do 2 runs a week. If you are taking about 6~10-man VL, they only make up of a small population, and require super good gears (e.g. 87 auf helm on some of the chars if not most of them).

    11~12-man VL is easy to join. You don't need to belong to some small groups. You just need to join some VL discords (18-man is fine), and eventually some people would be recruiting for 12-man. That's when you should dm them and send ur range.
    One does not need to be a friend of someone or be a member of a small group. Range (and bossing skills) says everything.
    If you couldn't join 18-man VL, just dm every host like 20 min after you see the system's VL message (cuz they would be doing bon stage and scroll farming after VL's down).

    Also it's human nature to split with fewer people given they have the ability to.
    People used to run HT with a larger group, for example, https://royals.ms/forum/threads/inactive-synergy-horntail-runs.16482/ They run with 2 or 3 parties.
    Nowadays, people do quad-attacker runs in less than 1 hour. What's the point of splitting among 10+ people if they can do with much fewer people?

    I can see both sides here, and I can respect why one would want to 'disable' multi-clienting in bosses, and I can see the value, but I would argue it's a net negative.

    Let's break this down systematically.

    Pros of multi-clienting.
    * This allows bosses to be done with less people, or even solo, allocating more resources. For example the meta is around Zak helms & Krex Rings, and this allows enough parties to meet the demand of newer players.
    * This allows for running of unpopular group content, IE Auf is typically ran by solo players trying to optimize for AUF helms (And sinking many mesos/time into scrolls (Sorry Sylafia). You may argue that this seperates power from the rich, but this only would isolate into small groups instead if at all. Bosses like Toad, Shao Leech, etc would die down.
    * There is much time investment into the social contract of multi-clienting. When one multi-clients they've spent time and energy making the new character. These characters require leech, int gear, etc. This if anything stimulates the economy for newer players. Who would be able to buy lower level leech if not for multi-clienting characters, why make nearly as many alts if not for a direct purpose?
    * Is bossing really the issue for multi-clienting? Only a small fraction of players do multi-client bossing, but we don't see it in things like LHC, Chao/Ephenia, etc. Maybe we'd see a little resurgance in some mid bosses (Scarga, Zak, Krex) but it wouldn't be some magic overnight thing.
    * People have not built characters around a non-multi-client meta. Some content is going to come to a freeze. With BM/MM needing buffs, with Bishops having more of leech than main meta, content will become stagnant, even LHC which is claimed to be 'an exclusive club' is still always short a bishop for 18-man.
    * Much entry level content for 'groups' is often filled by the guild need.
    * We might see stricter CGS/range requirements to allow players to join.

    Cons against multi-clienting
    * Many main classes Bishop (HS), Pally (CR), and BM/MM (SE) are run as alts limiting people who play them as main characters.
    * Solo players remove themselves from the available pool of people grinding the content, this may force them to 'integrate'
    * This would only further devolve into a mage meta, if you can't bring multi-clients to bosses then mage farming becomes the only reason to multi-client.

    Multi-client boss banning servers only a very specific use-case, but it doesn't solve any issues. It'd still be likely to create an exclusionary club instead of allowing for newer players to find groups. The solution tends to be solved with guild runs, and ultimately bossing isn't everyone's cup of tea anyways. It's a well sounding idea with good intentions, but it would not solve the issues.

    Looking at the problems OP presented, this could be resolved with other means, scale up rewards based on number of players, give stronger/different buffs to players who have only unique IPs in a party. Expand the everyone attacking for 30 seconds buff to include other stats, adapt the formulas for skills such as CR/HS/SE that scale their effectiveness with level, etc.

    The backlash against such a drastic change with such a meta, if this change were something that was done it would have needed to have been done years ago. It's like prop 65, good intention, but it's execution just makes things more muddied.

    I’m just scared what it will be in 3-4 years. Everything Will be solo content by then. Think it’s a thing to prevent! cause I’ve seen this shift since 2016.
    And I wanna make clear that I totaly understand the people who can do it, do it. It’s indeed a human thing to get more and more. But as long as we speak of a community thing… for me it’s important to create chances.

    And if i struggle to find a party for NT I swear list people just answer “make a bucc and solo it”. Cause my main is a shad!
    But that’s for me something I don’t want to do. Just want to finish this task olaf gives me. To craft a ws!

    But for real. I don’t think it’s healthy people are able to make WS or get drops like MW20 en gen30 on their own.

    you can't find a NT party because this content is just not worth to run in a party.
    The rewards are really small and the poll of players eligable isn't too big because of the prequest.
    Also the rewards are really hard to split, the main reason people run is the WS fragment, so 1 player get the fragment and the other people? take the 150 nx that dropped? why bother running this content for no reward?
    people run it solo because thats the only way you can get some reward for your effort.
    disabling multi client would just make it dead content.

    Any form of multi-clienting is toxic, sorry. I used to do it with mules and also for mage farming. The only reason it continues is because removing it would cause the player count to take a hit. But this whole practice is just toxic as hell.

    P.S. The only people who would quit are those already deeply invested in the multi-clienting bullshit, because the server has allowed it for far too long. At this point, it’s really too late for change.

    Still, I hate this aspect of the game to my core.

    From my perspective, multi-clienting is a core part of what makes up Royals' identity, and it doesn’t negatively impact others' gameplay who choose not to do it - it's purely optional. There’s no real reason to restrict it. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of multiclienting neither do I care for my laptop heating up from having multiple clients opn - and neither were a few of my guildmates. We chose to play through most content as a party - while others preferred to bring along multiple mules. We never felt disadvantaged by our decision to play a single client at a time, UNLESS we unknowingly partied with someone who relied on us to carry them because they were multiclienting.
