Well the demand should virtually be the same. Someone isnt going to keep upgrading their cape if they can get better value from their shoe and vice versa. If it's the supply, then thats more of a conversation in which we would then ask why or how is the supply higher or lower?

And while the market isnt perfect, there should still be some kind of cause behind it, because its more than just a small amount of variance we are seeing

facestompers come from taru totems which drop from several different gachapons where bfcs only come from cwkpq (which usually is pretty dry and probably run less than the taru dropping gachapons). 5 att bfcs are typically less stable in their prices. I have seen them range from 500-700m. Capes start at a higher attack, so fewer probably go to zero attack. BFCs are the only cape that go to 5 attack without a godly roll. There are so many variable that can affect the prices. With the high attack CGS market being so dry in supply and demand that is further reason for varying prices. If someone is willing to pay so much for one or the other, then that is what it is worth. You cannot expect them to always be the same price.

It also just takes one bidding war or desperate/shady buyer to inflate the price of a piece of wa gear, and the inflated price can stick for months.

(see 17 shoe which has a nonsensical price now)

First I want to make it clear Im not expecting the market to be perfect or that prices should always be the same since you keep making that point. Im really not sure how you got that impression in the first place. I literally make my entire living from investing, I'm well aware of such a surface level basic fact.

Aside from that you make some interesting points. Yes there are many variables that can affect prices, which is the whole point of the thread - What are the variables causing "equivalent" shoes to be cheaper than capes? So you're impression is that higher attack capes are harder to achieve than shoes due to lower supply of capes, is that right?

Does this ever get to point where a higher atk shoe (like 13atk+) is more expensive than its +3atk equivalent cape?

Ok so you understand trading so you get that it's not all fundamentals and sometimes the market is just a little stupid, right? People are willing to pay a price and others are willing to sell at the price. It just be how it be. If you think you know a price better than the market, buy up the market and set a price you think it's right.

I think you could try a less harsh tone. He is just trying to provide some thought on ur question, which I think even the most sophisticated merch/player/whatever could not answer.

    also wb pro.

At the highest level, WA gear gets super rare — usually just a couple pieces floating around and a handful of endgame players waiting on them. That’s when people start tossing crazy offers just to secure the slot.

Seen it a lot with 70 WA set pieces especially

You somehow seem to be under the impression that I am advocating that FS should be worth more than BFC's when in reality I'm simply trying to figure out why. No im not going to buy up this market and try to resell it at whatever price, im not trying to invert anything here, again just questioning. You said there are many variables and even explained things about the discrepency in the supply, so why would you then go on the opposite end of the spectrum and just say something as simple as "its people being stupid"

Maybe it is the market being stupid, I think thats a strong reason for it, but there are other factors that are potentially stronger that could be discussed here. Such as the fact that VL boots at 8/6 have a higher potential than 10/5 BFC's or as you mentioned before, a discrepancy in the supply

Thanks, happy to be back ~

And well I find it irritating that im being told such basic facts on 2 different occasions in ways that imply that I somehow believe the opposite. I dont want people thinking im some dumbass that doesn't know "the market isnt perfect and I cant expect prices to stay the same". Anybody is justified to be irritated when people are making it sound like you believe such foolishness

Yea that makes sense, but it doesnt answer my question: Does this ever get to point where a higher atk shoe (like 13atk+) is more expensive than its +3atk equivalent cape?

@Zenoooo mentioned at higher lvls the difference grows even more, so sounds like it would be even harder for shoes to be more expensive than a +3cape counterpart if anything

Actually figured it out, the key was the price of red socks.
Will post details when I have a bit of time in case anyone cares

i am interested in your red sock theory cause the price of red socks makes no (mathematical) sense to me

I too think so. Also at first glance rs doesnt seem to help with the OP question cuz of the low supply. Would be interested in reading tho.

The price of shoes/capes should not (at least in my opinion) be affected by each other.

If you are wondering why someone would pay 15b for 1wa upgrade on a shoe when they can pay the same amount for 3wa upgrade on a cape, the question you should be asking is not:
“How are they affected by each other” and should instead be:
“At what point would upgrading an equipment become less efficient”

Sooner or later that player (if committed to the grind) is going to have to pay 15b for that 1wa on the shoe because he/she would have upgraded their cape/gloves to the point where 1 wa on their cape/shoes would cost more than 15b.

What affects the price of each individual item (not together) are events which make the materials required for each equipment either cheaper or more expensive. Or a secondary item being used with the equipment being in the market.

eg: gfa100%s being readily available during anniversary would increase the demand of clean scgs so the price of scgs would go up

eg: miwok event/lhc farmers/winter dash producing lots of taru totems would make price of fs/scg go down.

Another more remote example would be when someone sold a high value item on the forums and has obtained a bulk of cs/ws/b coins they want to spend, i.e. gamble again.
They can singlehandedly increase the price of a clean fs/scg to 750-800m from 630m.
More gamble, more stock of scrolled wa gears in market, lower price of common wa gears.

The price of high wa gears has no logic so we should not bother with finding reason with it. I’ve seen players bid 170-190b for a glove just because they can. Its absurd really.
