Let's be honest not everyone enjoys or able to do Zak Jump Quest well, I had multiple chars, first one took me 4 hours+, latest one took me 2 hours+ still, just to pass the JQ alone. I understand it was meant to be challenging, but the frustration really builds up over time. Just like Toad JQ, is there a chance to add a payment to bypass it? Im not talking about 3m tho, i believe for people like us (who has really dumb slow eyes - brain - hands coordination), personally I am willing to pay up to 100m just to skip the JQ part, and this will motivate people like us to make more characters (this is one of the main and biggest obstacle that discourage me to create and play other chars tbh) I believe more chars helps with the community / economy (buys Leech / APR / etc) or to helps with the community / economy, instead of a straight up payment (helps with very minor inflation still xD), maybe JQ can be skipped with 50 Gold Tooth (or other new players friendly farmable etc) insteads (encourage farmers / more option for new players to make an income)? You can even make it worse, players who pay to skip JQ gets only ONE piece of EoF (control EoF prices) xD I get that there's a 12-16 hour quest available to bypass it currently, but come on please dont punish us like that xD I already did it once... Thanks for hearing me out, would like to see how others think of this <3
To skip toad jq you need to do a prequest. Zakum prequest is iconic and it wouldn't be fair for the people who did it to just make it skip able
While I generally disagree with the 'many people already did it the hard way so we can't make it easier argument', zakum jump quest is just iconic. There's also other hats instead of zhelm like scarga or pirate, so no one is forcing you to do zak prequest unless you need the skill book or really want to minmax getting zhelm at lvl 50 for a mule (at which point, Yeah minmaxxing stuff in any game is a commitment to sometimes tedious stuff) Also the whole game is about grinding, so having a 12-16 hour alternative grind to the zakum jump quest is perfectly fine imo. You can even buy many parts of the alternative quest iirc, just not all of them.
Fully agree, hence the much higher payment for every character that wants to skip them, if i have 5 mules, i have to pay 500m for all 5 of them just to skip the JQ part, havent take into account the other gold tooth requirement too. Thanks for the input as well! glad to see players discussing it! <3
yep some of them are purchasable indeed! what makes the quest long is actually the untradable ones tho... i rmb it was some etc deep in sleepywood xD yes i definitely agree for min maxing requires much more effort, just suggesting the effort can comes in other ways, i can sell leech for 1.5 hours on my bishop and use the mesos earned to skip the JQ part instead, just a minor example <3
Being able to buy your way to everything in a game is not a good thing imo. With leeching being so prominent, mesos is already basically the most important thing in the game by far so having some things that require skill or time investments is only good.
The difference here is almost nobody did Toad, everybody* does Zakum sometimes multiple times a day including on mules to provide services. The reason the JQ skip was added to Toad was to help make it less dead content. Toad got buffed drops and the JQ barrier removed with some prequests and it's still rare content. Applying this logic to Zak, one of the top 5 bosses on the server just doesn't follow the same goals. Also 50 Golden Teeth/100m is barely an inconvenience for players. Chair Gacha tries to subtract 150m/day. The alternate jump quest quest line already exists to solve the "can't jump to save my life problem"
There's also the fact that toad jq needs to be done every run, whereas Zak jq needs to only be done once ever. Shoot let's just let people skip for a bcoin, ez meso sink
Ya this is not a little thing. Zak is MANDATORY for some jobs to be played so i cant agree when someone says "no one is forcing you to..."
yes no one is forcing us but imagine you love NL so much but it just takes hours and hours for you to pass the JQ alone just to get TT sb.. that's sad
Legendary Sylafia! thanks for commenting <3 on the same note, 1b maybe too much for quite a number of players, 500m can be considered xD make another mesos sink lol
If you want to be top DPS, you gotta have some skill. That's the game. Don't like Zakum, play a Corsair.
As someone who once was a staunch JQ hater, I have since changed my opinion on the JQ over time and I now firmly believe that the JQ plays an integral role in the economy of the server and the general progression of the game itself. Its also an iconic hurdle that every player must face, and no amount of wealth or power is enough to let you bypass it. We must all walk the same path if we wish to Zak. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/zakum-jump-quest-alternative.34629/ I made this thread over 10 years ago. At the time of making the thread I had never done the JQ on my own. I struggled terribly for years trying to do it on my own and always gave up and had a friend do it for me on GMS. Sometime after I made the thread I had been faced with the decision of either figuring it out on my own or never doing Zak. I chose the former. I read up on guides, videos and read all the different tips and tricks that other players used to try and get through the JQ. I managed to do it a few months later and have done it at least a dozen times since I wrote that thread. My most recent character I did it on, I even managed to get through the JQ without falling once and completed it in less that 10 minutes. Maplestory is not hard. Its just an extremely time consuming game. Everything can be accomplished given enough time. The JQ is one of the very few difficult hurdles players must face where time isnt the first barrier they face. Sure time is being spent on trying to do the JQ, but it requires precise jumping and timing to get through the JQ. Paying Meso to bypass defeats the point of the JQ, it breaks a fundamental aspect of OSMS. It rewards the people with wealth and punishes those who dont have the money to pay to bypass. It lessens the sense of accomplishment and relief you gain from completing the JQ both of which are important to tying in any sort of emotional connection to the game itself. We lose a piece of that connection when we trivialize parts of the game and it just makes us less connected to the game long term as we remove those connections.
damn this actually motivates me to jump more, thank you for taking your time to contribute a very neutral standpoint. Fair enough. JQ shall remain challenging as it is. <3
