Everyone deserves a defense, and there are those of us who would like to speak on behalf of Cheesecake.

In no way, do we wish to undermine the authority of the management. We would only like to discuss and offer new ideas :D

    My two cents:

Cheesecake was banned for smega'ing "All Hail Hitler".
Cheesecake has been banned twice before for harassment. Once for using the term "nigglets". Once for KSing.
Things don't look good for a triple offender. But that doesn't mean we can't argue the point.

What follows is a tired argument, but a valid one nonetheless, in my opinion. People get banned for smega'ing obviously offensive things. They do it to provoke a reaction. They do it as a joke. And they get banned. But the question is: Do we really need to be going that far?

I believe that such minor offenses, should be left to the community. There's no reason to bother GMs, stir up trouble, and permanently remove someone from the MapleRoyals community, just because their smega was a bit controversial. The community can deal with it. If someone is being clearly hateful, the community will naturally start promoting to get that person banned. There's really no need for a single GM to cast judgment upon an individual. I believe, that in this case, there wasn't a single person who complained about Cheesecake's smega (correct me if I'm wrong), but TimK found it offensive, and Cheesecake was banned. Do we really want that amount of power in the hands of every GM? Should situations like these be left up to a vote between all the GMs? Would it work better as a clear-cut Democracy, with votes all across the board? Would it work better as a clear-cut Dictatorship, with Matt being consulted about every ban, or at least the controversial ones?

I am in no way complaining about the GMs. I have no idea how their whole process works. For all I know, they could hold a weekly tribunal at Mount Olympus to decide whether or not each ban was rightful in the eyes of the Maple gods. More seriously, they could have a Skype chat in which they just throw up a little: "Hey. So this Cheesecake guy just smega'd 'All Hail Hitler'. Is that a big enough reason to perma ban him? Do his original two bans give him little to no leeway in future decisions?" So perhaps they're doing everything correctly. I'm going off of lack of information. So take anything I say with a grain of salt <3

All I'm doing is preparing a platform for people to state their opinions.

    NOW GO ARGUE! :D

I agree, this was never directed at anyone and with the way things are in society nowadays worse can be said without it feeling like a jab to a party. Putting it into perspective, if he was in the middle of NYC with a megaphone and shouted "ALL HAIL HITLER" (kind of like he did), yeah, he might get looks, or someone would try to fight him. But the police would NOT arrest him. Therefore yeah, this is something he could be put on the "blacklist" for MAYBE, if it even gets that far, but I honestly feel like the same rule should apply here. I'm no GM but I don't think he deserves to be banned.

If I had 2 strikes on me and knew that a 3rd would perma-ban me, I would be verrrrrrrrrry careful about ANYTHING I do on the server. I think failing to have the same mentality itself is a disrespect to the rules.

I think having to be afraid to say something is the problem. Having to walk on egg-shells all the time isn't fun. Though, one could argue that the fact that he already had two strikes is why he deserves to walk on eggshells. But I think the matter of the problem is, that even if someone without any strikes were to smega "ALL HAIL HITLER", they would have been dealt a strike, and is that overkill or not?

But he didn't know he was on his second strike from what I can tell.

Although Cheesecake did earn three bans, if you look at what he did, it doesn't warrant being permanently banned. Was Cheesecake that toxic of a player where he shouldn't ever be allowed to played Royals again? I think not.

Perma ban is a harsh punishment And these things are petty bans

just today someone got unbanned from ksing Barbell cause he uses low level chars to take more bosses well abusing the mapowner command
Much like OldTheory did the same thing when Ray got banned

The rules are off and I really think you should judge on a case by case base instead of 3 strikes you're out, this isn't baseball,
Ray is not toxic enough to get perma banned for something stupid as this his smega deserves more then 3 days but perma???

His ksing ban should be removed and he should get a 30 day ban for what he smega that aint okey no matter what he thinks.

Well this isn't NYC is it? There were terms and conditions that we as players agreed to follow when we first signed up for an account on this server. Now, like many others, people might get banned once because they never read them, however, this guy got banned twice for the same reason and clearly should have realized that his actions were against the rules of the server. Yet still, he decided to push the staff's buttons by committing the same sort of offense again. Is it really so hard to be mature enough to learn from your mistakes? -.-'

perhaps none of the three bans by themselves warrant a perma ban, but the rule is three strikes and you're out. a player having two strikes doesn't mean the GMs will be more lenient with the third strike. if anything, it should make the player more cautious about getting that last one.

maybe there can be a way to remove a strike from your resume. it would involve a period of time where the player demonstrates that he has changed his ways. just an idea

It's not a question of whether or not Cheesecake brokes the rules. It's a question as to whether or not the rules are too harsh, and too vague.

I think two of the received bans are extremely questionable, the ban for kill-stealing and the Hitler ban. I feel like the report on cheesecake for ksing was incredibly weak. Both screenshots were taken within 20 seconds of each other. Which only proves that cheesecake was in the map, killing things, was told to leave and that's about it. Cheesecake could have left the map right afterwards. Also what OldTheory was doing was incredibly toxic. He was drifting through all the channels getting map owner so no one else could kill the lykas(For people who don't know, Lykas have a fairly high drop rate of maple leafs, which are 5k NX). Now the Hitler ban. I personally do not think that Cheesecake should have been banned for this. What basically happened was that he got banned for supporting a man. He never said anything about the holocaust, all he said was "All hail hitler". What Cheesecake was trying to say was that he supports Hitler as a leader. Hitler is known as one of the greatest leaders of all time. Of course morally, he was a monster. I would like to repeat, nowhere in Cheesecake's smega or ban appeal has he ever said that he supported the holocaust. He has only showed admiration for Hitler's leadership skills. Are you really going to ban someone for admiring a great leader?

EDIT: I would also like the point out that in the second screenshot of the ks report. Cheesecake was on the left side of the map which could mean he was attempting to change channels.

    Yes.

The fact that Ray is more concerned about Hitler's leadership skills and charisma than the horrifying things that he did, is frankly disgusting. He obviously cares more about being different and stirring up controversy than how he may make the people affected by this tragedy feel. I personally am thankful that our game moderators take a stance against toxic people.

In my opinion, he was banned twice for harassment and should've been more careful the third time around, but everyone knows that he did not mean to actually praise Hitler as the OP has stated. Knowing the structure of MapleRoyals, there is no way Cheesecake will be unbanned. I'm pretty sure even if Cheesecake were to win the Olympics, he would still not be unbanned. MapleRoyals has strict rules and goes by its ToS as plain law. These types of threads are a bit pointless, but I do have to agree with the fact that most of the things Cheesecake did were jokes and did not really offend anyone (correct me if I'm wrong).

EDIT: I wasn't on when he did it, but if I were I would've laughed my *** off. It looked like it was kinda funny, even if what happened approximately 65 years ago wasn't.

Yeah i'm 100% aware it's not NYC thanks for stating the obvious. I'm just talking about putting it in perspective. Because a lot of the times it is not taken into consideration. Things like this are being blown out of proportion his comment was not directed at anyone in particular. In no way did he offend a jewish person. Yeah it's a harsh comment, maybe for someone to hear or read, but if someone says "All hail Satan" and there's a Christian in the room, who gives him the write to get mad at the "Satanist." The phrase about Hitler is used in meme's, and all over the internet and someone has a problem with it, then they should just disregard it. I feel like this is way out of hand.

Exactly, we all know it was sent out as a joke (kind of an offensive one at that), yet the guy is trying to pass it off in his ban appeal as a "genuine act of respect of his amazing leadership skills."
Like you said too, Royals is very strict on this policy and therefore I can't see him getting unbanned unless one of his more questionable bans are alleviated.

I also agree with this. Supporting Hitler and supporting the Holocaust are two different things. It's like supporting your Chemistry teacher but not supporting the subject of Chemistry. That teacher may be a GREAT person, but you may not personally like Chemistry as a class. Just because Ray supports Hitler, doesn't mean that he supported what he did. Also, as ImCanadian has said Hitler was known to be a great leader. It takes a man with great leadership skills and charisma to rally up a bunch of people for the purpose of committing one of the most horrid crimes humanity has ever seen and hopefully will ever see.

First it was the ksing, now it's starting a public opinion and discussion about bans. Are you purposely trying to create more annoying and pointless threads? Let's talk about religion and politics now, shall we? =.=

While I agree that what Hitler did was disgusting, you're assuming Ray only smega-ed that to stir up controversy and to be different when in fact you don't actually know if that's the case or if his sense of humor lies in that direction.
If this is really about Ray smega'ing about a person that did horrifying things, would you feel the same way if someone smega'ed "all hail genghis khan"

In other words ban him for not having the same beliefs as you. "(insert name here) isn't a vegetarian? They eat meat? Get them out of here, don't let them sit with us. They are disgusting."

Some people are raised being different, whether it's what he believes or not we are in NO spot to say that. Toxic for merely thinking a certain way? No, toxic for hating on someone who is different than you.

Cheesecake saying "AllhailHitler" does not reflect his opinion on the holocaust. I find it disgusting that the staff decides to ban someone for such a thing. I don't know about the rest of the world, but in Canada there is Freedom of belief. Ray was stating his opinion on Hitler's leadership capabilities. Everyone decided to assume that he was talking about what Hitler did during the holocaust. But of course, a GM decided to ban him, and basically 99% of the bans that occur here never get lifted. I would just like to say, please members of the staff, take a second look at the screenshots for the KS report. This is little to no proof that he broke any rules, unless calling someone a dick is harassment.
