Make it possible to turn unripe onyx apples into onyx apples --> How? Well, similar to the valentine shiny onyx apples (you bring 2 onyx and 1 golden plate), you can bring your unripe onyx apples to a farmer. Like Utah or someone at China. But, it requires more effort. Step 1: Bring unripe apple(s) to farmer NPC Step 2: Bring water Step 3: Bring a shovel Step 4: Pay 1m per apple (cost for using the farmer's land) Step 5: Plant your unripe onyx apples at the farm (shovel required) Step 6: Water your planted apples Step 7: Wait a few days Step 8: Bring one water per apple daily while waiting. Failure to do this will result in the apples not growing any further the rest of the day Step 9: After waiting and watering your apples for a few days, your unripe apples will be normal onyx apples!
I thought it felt unhinged due to the many steps required and amount of work just to get some apples that somehow magically goes from unripe to ripe by being buried in the ground for a few days. But yeah I wouldn't be against having a quest of some kind. Perhaps having an NPC hat will help your unripe apples grow into onyx apples for a fee/in exchange for certain materials. There are plenty of existing NPCs that do nothing. One of them could be an apple grower.
