Yes, kill stealing is nostalgic, however,I don't think it should be "forgiveable".I think it's a form of "bullying" as KS usually happens where a high level mage,or even another job, taking advantage of someone who is low leveled or doesnt have big AOE skills. Also, especially when you are doing map bosses (Female bosses,Bigfoot, etc) as this will lead to an abuse to sabotaging. You won't want this to happen to you right..? (that hero in the video) Even if it's allowed,it shouldn't be allowed in all of the maps
I don't understand why there's even discussion about this. KSing someone out of their map, to steal their exp or KSing someone else's boss is just plain harrasment and you are an asshole if you do any of those things. Organized "ks wars" at Coolies or Forest of Golem were fun back in the day, but it wasn't really about stealing anybody's kills or exp as much as it was just a crazy free for all for fun with friends.
Exactly this. If players/guilds want to organize a 'KS war' at a map like those for nostalgic reasons then go for it. When you start KSing random people that's when it becomes a problem. It's cyber bullying and harassment IMO
I personally agree that the staff shouldn't really respond to KS. It always existed and all the games I played didn't really find it kill stealing as an offensive behavior. @Daniel how is killing a monster (that people somehow take possess of as their intentional kill) a harassment by any possible logical way? Bullying? Usually bullying comes in a physical way in the present day in which someone who is more dominant gets to mentally harm him/her (who is less dominant) by using physical strength, or in verbal ways by using mouth vocabulary that can mentally harm someone and lower their self-esteem, or on the internet social network websites by using offensive language that can cause inconvenience. But on a game? I'm quite unsure about whether it's allowed or not to KS but if it does mean disobeying the terms of service I strongly recommend changing this.
KSing someone out of their map is a form of harassment. The rules are there to protect the owner of the map, so they can train in peace. KSing was against the rules in GMS as well, it just wasn't enforced for numerous reasons (poor staff, population of the server, etc) Say you're training on your beginner and I came in with my bishop and started killing all your monsters, then you change channels and I follow you since you're weak and cannot defend yourself. That's a lot of fun to some people, to pick on weaklings. How is that not bullying? Or what if you're training at GS2 on your beginner, all the maps are taken, and I decide I want your map. I'm a warrior, I have mob attacks and you don't. What are you going to do about it? How can you even be "quite unsure about whether it's allowed or not", it's pretty obviously enforced and ban appeals and reports for KSing come up all the time. I have, not once, seen you actually add useful input to a thread. Also, hit the nail right on the coffin? That doesn't even make any sense, kid.
@Daniel just cause I disagree with everything GMs say doesn't mean it's not useful, agreeing with what he said is useful
That's exactly what the like button is for. It serves it's purpose. Responding with phrases that don't make sense, however, does not.
tbhhhhhhhhh I think this could lead to some serious dramas and prejudices lol; "hey that guild likes to KS, they are buncha assholes" etc etc... you get my point
When MapleRoyals reach the point where it gets so popular that all the maps are already taken at some point of the day, taking over somebody else's map will become normal, just like in the original GMS. But they won't necessarily be KSing. Kill stealing is when another player is killing the monster, but you steal the kill from them, by attacking at the last possible moment. When you take over a map from somebody else, you just kill more monster than them in that map. That doesn't have to be KSing, because they might just be killing monsters on the opposite side of the map from the beginner/low-level, but not stealing the exp. They might just be killing monsters that will respawn soon enough that you can kill them as well. This is something a lot of people don't know the difference from. So taking over maps are probably okay, if you're not stealing the EXP. But KSing is counted as being a troll, and probably very annoying.
Have more Anarchy please. Seriously I think allowing ksing would be great, it would make people actually train at all maps, not just the popular ones. This game has hundreds of ok training spots. There'd also be alot more diversity to training different classes, because some might be good at ks wars and others not. Regulating everything just makes games boring.
The only positive thing I could see in ks'ing being allowed is that it would ruin the leech selling market.
No, it would make the weaker people train at all maps, since the stronger players will just force themselves into the optimal maps. There will still be just as much players and just as much maps, so why wouldn't people be training at other maps now?
