For some context, I'm a relatively new player(about two months) and I have a level 6x bandit. After having read Marty's bandit guide and skimmed through several other posts, I'm getting the vibe that shadowers are weaker than other damage inducing classes in terms of using attacking skills such as Boomerang Step/Savage Blow etc. It seems that shadowers do the most damage when they are using meso explosion. Personally, I would prefer not to drop mesos to attack, I don't have money and all the other Shadower skills seem like so much fun.

I do understand that the whole damage thing only really matters during bossing and if having high DPS was my only goal, but I do like playing bandits regardless of dps. This post is just asking for information if anyone would like to educate me.

My question is, why are shadowers weaker? Is this solely because of this version's skill table? Or was it like this in GMS as well?

    Is this going to change?

    Thanks,

They're weaker because Boomerang Step has a long cooldown and there was an issue with Assassinate (I believe it disconnects you at bosses). Shadower skills are going to get a buff after the be source is released and some of those buffs like decreasing cooldown for Boomerang Step and hopefully Assassinate is fixed.

What classes are getting buffs is not confirmed, but it's a reasonable expectation.

Anyway, yes it's (primarily) due to the skills in this version - which are the same as they were at v62 GMS. (though the bugged assassinate doesn't help)

Yes Bandits FTW! I've always loved playing them also.
But yeah in this server it does seem that shadowers in particular are kinda weaker than most other classes. But then again, I've played the class since forever and they have always seemed kinda weaker IMO lol.

Not in terms of grinding or partying but mostly in bossing. Unless you're high leveled, ie have shadow shifter and smokescreen maxed, and dropping mesos like mad at bosses, we are kinda limited in how we can boss. I feel like ppl really like to see DPS and numbers flying everywhere. We have those numbers which are 5X higher but the "feeling" is very short lived haha...

However, the upside is that in this server, it is "relatively" easy to make mesos. So you can feel ok just dropping them to bomb stuff. I'm pretty poor in general but I feel comfortable dropping mesos without making a giant dent in my bank.

Hopefully with the new source they will get buffed a little bit but honestly I don't think that the buffs will make a gigantic change in the way that shadowers are played. I'm sure that it will still feel pretty much the same. The only gigantic changes that were made to shads were in version 1.50 (I really don't know lol) when we were given shadow partner and FJ haha.. Man that would be awesome...

But yea if you are looking for a high DPS class, then unfortunately I don't think we have that yet lol.
