IGN: unglapungla Last thing i was doing : i was hitting jr newties while watching a movie. Then suddenly i got diced and when I tried to relog it says I was banned for hacking/3rd party programme. GM involved : no idea
How is that i glitch?all i did was stand on a platform and shoot at the newties. Its in the bowman set of skills to shoot from afar or am i supposed to go up close and tank their hits?
Can you explain why you were not getting hit by the monsters? And what was the purpose of the other player standing in the map with you?
Sinkalan is a real life friend who introduced me to this server. We were in the same map so as to not be bored while training together. After inquiring suitable training spots for my lvl, i decided to train there and was shooting arrows at the mob. If that was a glitch why then are the platforms still there? Bowmen have a skill that increases their range far beyond normal characters and as such i was able to hit the mob without them hitting me. If this classifies as glitching, what about standing in the middle of the platform in gs2 and spamming arrow rain? Does that classify as a glitch or just basic common sense and applying suitable game knowledge.
We did a test- and your attack range increasing beyond that of normal characters does not mean that mobs would not be unable to attack you at that same spot. Another GM replicated your job and attack skills and got hit at a spot which was further away from the mobs as compared to where you were. There is a known glitch where you utilize a second player, and after doing some stuff (I will not state it since it is not fixed yet) you obtain temporary God mode. Whether or not you intended to abuse this glitch is unknown, but the fact that you continued using it without alerting a GM constitutes as glitch abusing. (Although the fact that you tried to justify yourself having a skill which increases range is highly compromising, since attack range and range within mob attack are two entirely different things. Let this be a warning that anyone who stumbles across a glitch, doesn't report it to a GM and continues abusing it will suffer the same consequences. Enjoy your three days break from maple! Proof: I was the one who banned you- I observed you for a good 15 minutes and saw that you received no damage whatsoever even though the mobs were aggroed.
If there really was a glitch, does the fault really fall onto me? By not fixing something and punishing players for accidently discovering it, it is really fair? In fact, i could even hit the mob from the platform on which the golden pig is standing without being hit by the mob. Rationally, you guys could've warned me and i would have stopped doing it immediately. All i get instead is an unfair ban for 3 days for no other valid reason than discovering something i did not know was there. As they say, ignorance is bliss so if you really see fit to ban me then i will just have to accept it.
Yes, because from the GM's perspective, is seems very likely that you were using the 2nd player to activate the glitch. Standing on the platform where you were allows you to hit the first Jr. Newtie, and then the one further along after the first one dies. So more EXP over time compared to the platform with the golden pig on it. My question now would be why were you not standing on the platform where the golden pig was if you knew you could not get hit from there.
Cause i was watching a movie as well and wasn't really paying attention to maple other than pressing the strafe key as i have auto pot from the pet .
K sort of final word on this- waiting for an admin to close the thread. I've spoken to some of the more experienced xbowmen/bowmen and the adminstrators and this is our conclusion: There are several ways a monster's AI may be abuseable. In this instant- it's an abuse; since you're using someone else to be the "target" of the newtie (from hitting it first) and giving yourself "godmode". The Newtie's AI does not switch targets to the person who next attacks it- which is taking advantage of a flaw found in our PS. Some may argue that this is akin to avoiding debuffs (e.g dispels/KBs) from a Boss/ or clearing a Boss's Def up/Magic def- since in both scenarios the AI is being manipulated for game play purposes. So we are making only this instance bannable: Where if you attack x monster and x monster is within its range to attack you, and it doesn't hit you because of the abovementioned flaw (and not because you are at a safety spot or something)- you are abusing an AI's limitation- and deserving of a 3 day ban. Ungla, I tried to look from a player's point of view- and although it is plausible that you were too engrossed in your movie- at some point you should have realized that you were taking no damage from the mob whatsoever. Also, if you are a constant grinder there in royals- you would have known that the spot you are standing at is in no way safe. Cookies for you if it was your first time there and had no clue/ or didn't notice that Sin was the monster's target instead of you - but instances of banning set precedents for us to ban future would-be glitchers. So we'll see you in three days- and hopefully no hard feelings. If anyone has any opinions, queries about this please PM me in game on Christine, and we'll discuss it if you feel the need to challenge the validity of this ban. --> This is allowed though.
