I've taken about a day to decide how I want to handle this situation. I've decided to write two ban appeals, each with a specific goal. The first ban appeal is a candy-coated lie written to appease the admins reading, taking full blame, and apologizing. The second ban appeal is factual and purposefully offensive to make a point of the odd circumstance I've been put in, and give credit where it is actually due. Beforehand, I'd like to note that I actually really do enjoy MapleRoyals, and have made so many wonderful friends with both staff and players, with an optimistic outlook on the server's future. I'd also like to acknowledge that I am a guest on this server, and the admins have 100% full control to make executive decisions beyond the boundaries of written rules and terms of service. That said, here are my appeals: Appeal #1: Spoiler IGN: Marth Last thing you did: AFK in Free Market Entrance Why do you think you got banned?: Fake Email What GM banned you (optional): John Appeal: I'm really sorry that I used a fake email. It was really stupid and foolish of me and I hope I didn't offend anyone. MapleRoyals is awesome and it won't happen again! If you're willing to unban me you can use my real email [email protected] Appeal #2: Spoiler IGN: Marth Last thing you did: AFK in Free Market Entrance Why do you think you got banned?: Fake Email What GM banned you (optional): John Synopsis: I'm talking with my friends on a public Skype chat with ~30 people and mention that I love registering for websites with the email [email protected]. John, who is one of the 30 people in the public chat decided to go out of his way and check the MapleRoyals database to see if I had used that email here as well, which I had. John assumed the email was fake and, again, went out of his way to go in-game and ban my character. Appeal: My email is not fake, John only assumed it was. I had been given a warning on Skype from John to provide a real email. Knowing my email was real, and knowing there was no grounds for a legitimate ban, I had no reason to provide an alternative email. The conversation had a very facetious tone (myself and others in the chat even joked about swinging a ban hammer on me), and I had no cause for thinking John actually had intent to ban me for such a petty, invalid reason. I've been using this particular email for registration at various sites for several years. It is not my main email, which I use for private and professional usage, so as not to be flecked with spam. The email address is vulgar on purpose, hence being used on websites where one would normally anticipate spam after registration. Other thoughts: The email I used to register for MapleRoyals is around 4 or 5 years old, ancient by internet standards. As such, I'm no longer able to access my inbox to compose an email for verification (which is not required or even an option upon server registration). Nevertheless, I've taken the liberty to create a new email and would be overjoyed to verify if the administration deems necessary. It deeply burdens me not to be able to log into the game and socialize with my friends, though I am willing to overlook this misunderstanding. My new email is [email protected] Conclusion: This is all very silly, and I'd like to put it behind us. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Please show me where there exists the TLD .les, the closest that I have found is .ls which is for Lesotho. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains When you registered for MapleRoyals, you were required to provide a valid, working email. Yes, I did go into the DB to check if what you had stated was really your email. I would have also gone in game to the database or wherever I needed to go if that same Skype conversation had said "I am hacking using mob vac and autoban hasn't picked it up yet haha" Please tell me which email is valid and can be used to contact you as both yahoo.com and innocent.com are legitimate domains.
You really think calling an administrator a little bitch is going to get you anywhere? I don't understand how this is such a big problem. You need to provide legitimate information when registering. You were banned for having what looked like a fake email. You now state you cannot access the email which isn't any help at all. You need to provide a legitimate and working email address for possible password recovery situations or if we make any changes to our system that will require a working registered email address. We are not going to accept your ridiculous new email address.
As anticipated, the second appeal was met with hostility. My point has been made and I will redirect your attention to the first appeal again. Spoiler IGN: Marth Last thing you did: AFK in Free Market Entrance Why do you think you got banned?: Fake Email What GM banned you (optional): John Appeal: I'm really sorry that I used a fake email. The staff have not shown hostility in response to this thread. Merely explaining reasons which you you were banned and reasons why we require an email address. However you are not going to get flowers and chocolates in return for insulting somebody. Thanks for the email address, I've now updated it in the database. So after you have served a 3 day temporary ban for insulting a member of staff you will be able to log in.
