Nostalgic ships

Meso sinks are used to get mesos out of the game completely. Buying tele rocks just transfers the mesos from one character to another, which is not a meso sink.

 

Maplestory v62 also lacked Ulu City and Temple of Time for late game grinding. At MapleRoyals we take what was bad, broken, slow or lacking in v62 and build upon it or change it.

Nostalgia is very subjective, and you generally shouldn't try to force your idea of nostalgia on others. You have to remember, we are just a vocal minority here on the forum.

If you want to ride the boats, that should optional, not mandatory. That's my 2 cents.

 

In GMS I avoided the boats as much as possible once Leafre came out and I figured out Magic Seeds were a thing. It's faster to go from Elinia>Leafre>Orbis than Elinia>Orbis. That makes absolutely no sense. And it's not just 10 minutes either, it's a minimum of 11 minutes as you're not allowed in the boat 1 minute before takeoff. It could be up to a 16 minute wait, that's a huge waste of time imo, considering going through Leafre will take less than 10 minutes even with the full boat ride.
This won't be a meso sink with people buying rocks from others either, those Mesos will still be in circulation. It's just a transfer of Mesos; it might be a minor nx sink though.
As for the reasons for this:
1) You can go to the FM to meet new people, and it's a lot more efficient that way. I actually have gone to channel one on the boat and met a some people there too, so it's already an option as long as you don't care about sharing balrogs, but if your purpose is to meet new people that shouldn't be a problem.
2) You can just do mini games at the game place in Henesys. Or you can try to get people to ride the ship more often and play mini games there instead of Henesys.
3) Balrogs are already killed fairly often for NX and the book they drop.
4) Already talked about this.
5) The ship waiting was removed as a quality of life change. Waiting doesn't make the game any easier or harder, just longer, so what's the point in having them mandetory if all they do is waste time? Everything they were good for can be had elsewhere. And they would still be skippable through Magic Seeds or walking other ways which would actually be faster. This is a private server meant to be GMS like, not be exactly like GMS.
6) Nostalgia may excite some people at first if this is implemented, but after a while people would get bored of it, just like in GMS. Waiting sucks. Especially if you know you don't, and shouldn't, have too. So although this may be a temporary novelty, just like a kid with a new toy, people will tire of it.

The only boat I ever liked going on was the one from Victoria Island to Orbis. It was always the most populated ship and there was always someone to talk to. However, I agree with @Rob. The nostalgia will eventually fade and the boats will get tedious quickly.

 

We have the option to take the boat or not, it's still there. That enough is fine with me, but I do agree that the ride is fun with others. Maybe we could have the option for all the boats? Not sure if the others are available still outside of Vic - Orbis

 

Even though ships are pretty nostalgic to me but I wouldn't want to wait and travel by ship all the time. The most reasonable reasoning is that , we won't want to waste much time on traveling, to get to Ludibrium from Victoria island would take at least 15minutes but you could get there in 2mins with the current system. Well we were younger we basically have time to enjoy the game but now our time would be limited for the most of us and I don't want to waste my time in traveling. Plus, this would discourage the use of ship and more people will shift to use TP rocks.

If you want to enjoy the ride and communicate with others, you can basically smega and ask for company.

This method of traveling would eventually make players to be tired of it and I don't think the feeling of nostalgic or enjoyment would last long, It would be fun if it's done adoquately but not always....

 

The only reason I prefer it this way is because if your high lol you basically train at leafre or tot and the magic seed an get you there I understand how it's a inconvienance to most people that's why I wanted to know the community's feed back

If there were to be a bundle of VIP rocks that might make it worth while, the cost to travel by tp rock would double if not more when normal rocks gets fixed.
