Hello, I did not play MS since like 2007. Last week I decided to give it a try again. After hearing lots of negative comments about the state of Maplestory these days, I still decided to give it a try. I downloaded MS and played through maple island quickly just to see that they got rid of so much socializing stuff like lots of PQs etc. Henesys is very empty even though it used to be a socializing point back in the days. Even Free market barely has people in it. Now I wanna ask: How frequently will I see people when I am playing in MapleRoyals? Is random socializing in towns when you want to take a break off of grinding a common thing? I am asking because the socializing part was a very important thing for me in MS. For me MS was 50% playing and 50% chilling out and meeting new people in towns and just goof around. Normal MS is really empty and people don't care about socializing with others anymore as it seems. There is no random fun anymore. Only mindless grinding on your own...
Considering it's 10 channels, it almost feels like an a new server from back then. maybe a little less, i feel like 700-1000 is the perfect amount of players. currently at avg of 600 i'd say. that's as much as some of the servers on GMS today.
A friend and I joined a few days ago. There's a lot of opportunity to mess around on channel 1. Him and I were invited to a PQ by a bunch of really high level players, and I went to a drop party at Maya's house and picked up a few scrolls and things (someone also summoned some monsters and low level people died).
Well within the Free Market there are usually lots of people afking, chilling, buying and selling (although not quite to the extent of Maple Story. i.e. You wont see huge walls of "@@@" text, and people climbing over one another to be seen). The towns (henesys, kerning, perion etc) are generally not as populated, but you'll find quite a few people in common training maps, and in PQ areas. With 600-800 people online at a time, there is no doubt you'll end up in conversation with random players, and make friends if you wish to do so.
Until the recent Server merge in GMS it was pretty fair to say we were crushing a lot of the newer gMS Worlds in activity. Renegades, for example, barely got past Ch1 FM7 and towns were pretty dead even on channel 1. Training areas were rarely taken and there was a severe lack of high level players especially for end game content. It's fair to say our good old buddies at Nexon drove away a lot of players with their decisions. Far different case here. It isn't as booming as gMS scania, but you should have no trouble meeting, socializing, and interacting with people, and the free smegas help immensely when it comes to making the server feel alive.
Usually once you find a group of friends, it starts becoming more like you're part of a community and you get to know others along the way. Just be nice and be yourself.
What exactly do you mean? I started a character yesterday night a while after posting this thread and did already stumble into a couple of other players on Maple Island that directly started a nice conversation with me and added me to their friends list. It does actually feel like what it felt like to play MS back in 2007. When I tried eMS I didn't find any other players on Maple Island but one guy who was just ignoring me though. Also you can just rush through the new Maple Island in 1 minute anyways in eMS now. Love to see the good old map again. This server is just great! I'll definitely become a donator later on! This really has to be kept alive.
What is it with the "free megaphones" you were talking about though? I can't find free smegas anywhere. Only the ones for 1.500 NX in the cash shop.
Plus you can vote once every 24 hours to obtain 8000,- NX every day. PS: You can find the vote button from the home menu
