All good things must come to an end

I don't know how to even begin this post, since I never figured this day would ever come. Due to IRL and other unrelated issues I decided to leave Staff. This is kind of emotional for me, since I've been a member of Staff since September 2013 (before the wipe). I've never made a post in this section before, even though I've came and gone many times, but I feel as if I owe it to my friends and all of you to say a proper goodbye. I've met many many amazing people during my journey, this is the greatest community I have ever had the honor to be a part of. Keep in mind, I am not leaving the game completely as @Chelsea and I are going to come back to the game once the new source is out.

I want to start off by thanking @Matt. If it wasn't for Matt I wouldn't have been here nor would I have forged lifelong friendships and relationships. I've been behind the scenes for a very long time and have watched Matt make extreme sacrifices for the good of the server. There have been many many lean months towards the beginning where Matt had to pay out of pocket to keep the server running. If it wasn't for Matt this the server would have never been kept up. @Matt also had to make a controversial decision (which was discussed with and supported by me) of wiping his semi-popular 10x exp server to a 4x exp server. Obviously, this decision has paid off. I'm not sure if many other server owners would have had the balls at the time to make such a difficult decision that was met with such harsh backlash. If the wipe never happened the server would have never flourished.

I have way too many people to say goodbye to, so I will do it by groups.

Spoiler: For the Staff, past and present

@Christine Who better to start with first than the person I met IRL first? You've been a great friend to me both in the game and out. This isn't goodbye, as we will keep in touch and head to Donut Planet (yes, planet) really soon. I will text you to make it happen. Not sure about this Saturday, maybe the Saturday after? But back on topic, you're the best.

@Aly You and I are so so similar and having the pleasure of spending a few precious days with you IRL confirmed that. When I first joined this server you welcomed my friend group and I into the "popular" (well, it was a small server at the time) group and we had Skype calls all the time. You really made me feel at home. I consider you less like a friend and more like a sister and I hope I get to see you again in the near future.

@Dustin Dustbin! Dude, you already know I love you. We have similar interests, similar music tastes, and we're both former pot heads trying to get by in a friend group dominated by pot heads. I've never even met you before in person but after spending the last two years with you I feel as if I know you better than some of my IRL friends. You're the best, man.

@Katsuruka I've always looked up to you. You embody everything I want to be in life; responsible, hard-working, caring, and a great parent. The amount of work I've seen you put into the server is staggering. You do so much on the back end that the community will never see. You deserve a big group hug from the community for all that you have done to keep the server running as efficiently as possible. I will miss serving with you most of all.

@Michael Fuck you dude. You're a worthless sack of shit and every second I spend with you feels like eternity. Lets grab a beer next time I'm in Toronto, maybe we can go see the Jays? I really don't understand how they're below .500 with the best lineup in the league. I guess pitching is everything (which is why my Mets are 3 games over .500 ). You gotta make a trip down to NY/NJ, you will always have a place to stay with us.

@Manny Lubber! I pushed hard to get you into Staff, and that really paid off. You're a really cool dude IRL and next time I'm in Toronto I'm going to buy you a few beers (even though beer in Ontario is waaaaaay over priced I don't know how you do it). I've also watched your Twitch stream several times, and you're really good at it. I still don't understand the appeal of Twitch, perhaps I'm old, but I do know that you convey your awesome personality well while streaming. Keep it up man and I'll see you soon

@Sila You and I have had many great chats. We've experienced a lot of similar (yet extremely different) diversity in our lives and I feel like you understand my sometimes rocky mental health better than anyone here. I know you're always there for me emotionally and always know that I'm here for you as well. Stay in touch please.

@Tim You were always really helpful to me in game and I really got to know you on a more personal level once you joined Staff. Out of all the current Staff members you remind me of myself the most (no bullshit often polarizing attitude). Keep it up man, you're doing a great job. I hope we stay in touch.

@Matt What I wrote above is how I genuinely feel about you. I don't know where my life would be if it wasn't for your server. I hope the community gives you the respect you rightfully deserve.

@Chelsea I hope you drive safe on your way home, if you pass by Wawa can you pick me up something to eat? Thanks!

@Kenny I know you've had your differences with Staff, but I hope you know that I have had nothing to do with it. Hit me up. We'll play Diablo, season 4 is going to start up soon.

@Amy I'll never forget that snapchat you sent me. Too funny. We've also had a blast when you came to the city. Hit me up sometime please I would like to hear how everything is going.

@Andreas I don't know you well but you seem really cool. I hope they promote you to GM in my absence, you will do a fine job.

@Chance @Jen @Cyndy I never really got to know you guys too well but you are doing a great job, keep it up.

@maggles I always considered you my best friend on royals. You, along with Aly, introduced me to all of your friends and made me feel at home. You are such a nice and funny guy and I really hope I get the chance to hang out with you soon. I hope you and @Christine are happy

@Christian You've always made me laugh man. Remember that time you got banned for impersonating Matt on the first day post wipe? That was so funny it brought me to tears. You're a really great guy and I enjoy your company. I'm glad to see you back on Royals.

@blakeburns We've had so many funny moments on Skype. Remember that time you put peanut butter on your nipple? Oh jeez. I hope everything is going great for you down in Texas. I know you probably won't ever see this but I would feel bad not giving you a shout out.

@Interpol Tom! deGrom just beat Greinke in a showdown, does this mean deGrom is favored for the Cy Young? Probably not. I do wish your Dodgers success and it was always fun talking Baseball with you. We've had some amazing Skype calls as well

@Ekul Luke! We had some great times on Skype, I hope life is treating you well. I do remember you and Tom telling me that after the wipe we would be never have 100 concurrent users on again, look at us now.

@David The Dolphins are playing the Cowboys this year. You guys are going down!

No doubt that my favorite time on Royals was spent being a part of the best guild in Royals history. Lubs was a pre wipe guild that was the second guild created after the wipe (after @maggles guild Synergy)

@Rob I didn't know whether to put you in the Staff section or the Lubs section, since you've been part of my life as both. You are in my top 5 of favorite people I've met in Royals (no i won't list them, I don't want any hurt feelings). You were a great guild leader and a great friend. I enjoyed the weekend you spent at my house last year and I feel really bad that we didn't get to meet up the last time you were in the city. I hope that your girlfriend gets into UPenn so we can meet up more often!

@Catlaunch You and I have bonded so much over music, being buccaneers before it was cool, and being Jr Masters in our guild. Out of all the people that left Royals for Legends your departure hurt the most. I can't blame you, but I hope you'll play Royals with me once the new source is out. Hopefully they will buff Buccaneers and we will reign supreme

@Bella Bellaaaaaaaaaaaaa. From the moment I stole you from Synergy I considered you a great friend of mine. I hope all is well in Australia I know we were supposed to go back to school together, but I found a great job that didn't involve school. I'm going to say hi on Skype shortly after posting this!

@Hanzlah567 Hanz! You kept our guild alive for so long. You were the most loyal member of Lubs. Without you we would have surely died. I will always appreciate the effort that you put in. I've had some great conversations with you in the past. Tell Saud I say hi as well

@Gangsta I only knew you briefly but you are a cool guy and an awesome guild mate. You've also done a really good job at padding my likes total by liking everything I say. So that's cool I guess haha.

@UrbanJuggernaut I know you won't see this Jake but I haven't forgotten about you. I enjoyed discussing prog metal with you!

Also a shout out to Wes, he quit a long time ago and I don't know his forum account but he was another cool Lubber.

@Geox Bry! I've known you since August 2013 and you were an OG member of Lubs. Perhaps we can play smash soon? I've gotten some of my skill back, I promise

Brandon/Olk: I don't remember your forum name, perhaps you've never even had one (you have always been a lurker). You were the first Bowman on the server to hit 120, that is a hell of an accomplishment. You could have been one of the top characters if you didn't quit. Also, you're the best I've ever seen at chimney jq.

@Mekansm Brian, I've seen you recently IRL. I hope all is well in California, I wish you much success. Next time you come visit your parents hit me up and we'll hang out.

Jocke/Ajax/Buddha: I can't remember your forum name either, but that doesn't mean you're not important to me. We've bonded a ton over Game of Thrones and you've helped me a lot in game pre/post wipe.

@Zoink Sven, you were one of my top motivators when I decided to level my Bucc. I miss the days when you were the number 1 bucc on the server and I was the number 3 bucc. We were Buccs before it was cool (before SI was even working). I will see you soon on Diablo i'm sure since season 4 is starting soon. We'll stay in touch. I hope you and @Aly are happy and make sure you treat her well because she deserves the best!

@AdamBrone Remember when we used to grind together at Skeles? I do. That was really fun man and I appreciate all your help.

@Plenty I have never spoken to you in game though we've had some nice chats in the chatbox. Grats again on the Warriors victory! Cherish it because you never know when another one will come, perhaps it'll be 40 more years.

@Paradox Helen, you are such a funny person. I really enjoyed our random conversations about burrito fucking.

@Romina I didn't know you in game for long, but you were really nice and helpful to me.

@Oldie You started off as an enemy and then you became my friend. I'm happy that you got a job recently and I hope that we can grab a beer the next time I'm in Toronto. You're a nice guy Alex, it just took me a bit to realize (you did also egg me on haha)

I think that's it. My apologies if I missed anyone. Also, i'm too lazy to proofread and i'm not the best at writing so I'm sure there are tons of grammatical mistakes, oh well.

TLDR: I left Staff due to personal reasons. I am going to come back to play on my legit characters once the new source comes out.

Going to miss you and Chelsea, Dan, and looking forward to seeing you both again when the new source comes out. Also, wow, I don't think I could make such a long goodbye post, I'd be stuck for words and worried I'd forgotten someone important, so if I ever left Royals, my goodbye post would probably end up looking more like this:

 

N'awwwwh reading all this just makes me think about how much the server has affected my life, too (wow that sounds self-centred but what I mean is I understand the impact, and how strange it is to see yourself go).

You've welcomed me into your home and into your life and meeting you guys was one of my favourite things I've ever done. Remember how I said I was coming to New York for like 2 years before it finally happened?
