JoyToKey is a piece of software that allows you to emulate controller input as keyboard/mouse input. I have used a controller with GMS in the past without any problems. My question is, has anyone tried it with MapleRoyals? My biggest concern is whether it would cause an autoban or not. Using a controller is very useful for easing stress on the hands caused by long grinding sessions and is also useful for people with awkward keyboards. (I am using a laptop atm and using the home/insert/end/etc keys is nearly impossible because of the layout).
Sometimes I used it for level 1-70 when I played Maple but it was pretty complicated when playing characters with alot of skills and buffs. If you would ask me for my opinion I would say you are better off with a decent USB keyboard instead but I guess that's just because I was used to be using a keyboard filled with all kind of skills and potions.
I haven't tried it yet with MapleRoyals, but I'm planning to. It shouldn't work any different from how it works with GMS. That being said, you would have to wait for confirmation from a staff member, preferably a developer who knows whether the server will pick it up as an auto-botter, since it simulates user keyboard / mouse input based on controller input, the game might think it's a bot.
Ive never played Maple Story with any other controller than keyboard and mouse. This sounds very interesting. Ive never tried it, and I have no idea if its okay with the staff or not so it'd be better to wait for a response from them. I wonder how it would work though, after all the keys configuration is intended for a keyboard, not anything else..... iwonder what it would be like.
Yeah I'm not going to try it in case I get banned. As for gameplay though, I've only ever used a controller with a priest. I think it may actually be harder to use for many classes, but with a priest you have teleport for movement, and don't have to actually aim if you are using heal or genesis. It works very well with that class.
I'm going to try it after this downtime, in no way SHOULD it be ban able because, 1. GMS allows it and, 2. Doesn't make your game play ability any easier/faster than a keyboard. (if anything its more of a challenge) Hopefully using a controller with make the level process not as boring. Thank you for bringing this up!
I have used a controller + Joy2Key today and it works fine, no autoban. I found two people who had problems but they were fixed by running both mapleroyals and joytokey as an admin. So if your controller is detected by joytokey and you configure it fine and it still doesnt work, try that. Also, please use the latest version from the official site ONLY. (many rip offs out there and they do not always work perfectly.) http://joytokey.net/en/download
