Hey guys, this is my first time back on Maplestory since back in 2009 and i'm feeling lost and confused. I have recently made a low dex thief and have only leveled it to 25 so far. With this being said, I have a lot of questions for MS veterans and Nightlords on this forum. For starters, Im not sure what I should be wearing as gear right now as a low dex sin. I dont have the money for any dex bathrobes, hats, ect. and I dont have high enough dex to wield new claws. I'm aware at 35 I can use the maple claw, but until then, do I just use the starting claw? Secondly, how should I go about making money as someone new and low leveled so I can eventually afford dex gear? and finally, can someone PLEASE help me understand the concept of HP Washing? I get why it's effective, but I don't get how it fully works. When do I have to start worrying about this? How do I go about doing it?

I've had a few people try to briefly explain HP washing to me and i'm still confused; even after reading a thread on the forums. I was told I need to eventually put my AP into INT so that my levels will yield me more MP? If someone could seriously help me that would be amazing! More than anything i'd really love to get back into MS (especially bossing).

Start of Dexless and use a Garnier scrolled with 60% claw scrolls. They're fairly cheap and should last you until you get a Maple Claw. Grind @ Wild Boars for both mesos and a Maple Kandayo which you should also scroll with 60s.

You don't need any Dex gear during the lower levels because Maple Weapons are by far the best option. Just focus on Luk until you collect enough funds to get yourself a nicely scrolled Red Craven/Dragon Sleeve and then you can consider purchasing Dex equips and adding AP to Dex.

HP Washing is a simple process of leveling up with Int. Each 10 Int you have, you gain an additional MP on top of the regular MP you get when you level up. That means you can essentially gain free MP just by having Int in any form. Since HP and MP share the same AP pool, you essentially gain more HP per level because of this free MP.

Thanks so much! So Basically I just start putting my level points into INT for a while and then I eventually AP Reset and put it all back into Luk? Also, when should I start worrying about this and how long should I worry about it for? I'm 25 and I haven't put any AP into INT

You don't necessarily have to put points into INT, either. Ideally, at some point, you can afford INT gear. If you equip INT gear that gives +10 or +20 int throughout, you'll gain more MP, in essence. That'll require fewer AP Resets as a result.

In terms of affording DEX gear, keep voting everyday!
You can use the NX you get to sell Teleport Rocks or AP resets... and once you hit level 50, you can start buying (35) Gach tickets to gain items for sale as well! Those are the best ways to make money for newer individuals.
If you want a specific character to save money without requiring funding, I would highly suggest a cleric.
