Zakum Jump Quest alternative

What kind of fictional story are we talking? Are we finally going to hear the story of why Zakum is rubbing his rock in a really awkward manner?

 

More Like a Background Story of Zakum Travelling to Different Npcs finding out Who zakum is why hes Mad etc. Or why you're able to summon him and whats the reason behind. Like you summon him and defeat him to get his Honor so he Protects El Nath from melting and become Aqua Road 2 . And im sure there is Space for a Joke about him rubbings his rock(hard) in that manner . I know this sounds like a lot of work but i've seen how passionate Kat is with event building and since its not Important or in rush why not wait a bit longer and have something total awsome. Maybe so awsome even Pro Jumpers wanna do it atleast once.

 

I don't like this idea at all, it's designed to be a challenge and frustrating- that's the whole point.
It's one of the only things in maple that actually requires a small bit of skill to beat and you're really complaining about it being too hard? lol People have been doing it for ten years, it's not that bad.

 

Those who couldn't do it account shared and let someone else do it, which is not possible here.
I did the JQ for friends, so there is a big difference between here and how it was in official.
Seeing that account sharing will not be allowed, this alternative would be like Royals way of doing it, without the need to account share.

 

Maybe A version Can be added for the colourblinded by colouring the platforms? or having contrasting colours

i'd love to see something changed. i've never been able to stand jump quests. legitly hope whoever thought them up was castrated with a rusty butterknife.

 

It's all timing, which requires you to be calm. Telling yourself you can't do it is setting yourself up for failure.

If you can navigate platforms while training or running around town, you have the skills necessary to complete it. If you suck, just keep practicing.

 

Everything in maplestory is painstakingly easy, from training to boss fights, the amount of skill/timing is so minimal to none. Most of the time you just hold one key, no need to keep yourself alive or pick up items, pet does that for you.

This is the one thing that takes maybe a little bit of that, but still not much. Just keep trying or follow a youtube guide.

 

Only if the alternative is difficult - not just tedious or expensive, but a test of skill. Buying zakum helmets is already distasteful. I don't want this, what used to be a sign of prestige, to suffer the fate of Scissors of Karma

I would rather keep this as it is - whatever drops from Zakum is to be earned

 

so im just gonna bump this up to make a suggestion. add an option to pay an npc x amount of mesos per pre quest. keep the option to do them yourself if youd like, but i really dont wanna rip my hair out

No, Zak should not be made kid-friendly. You gotta suffer through the hours of that jump quest to earn that helm. End of story.

 

I made this thread a year ago. Since then I've done the JQ atleast 6 times successfully with nothing but my own ability. I still hate it, and I still believe a quest alternative would be awesome to have. Ironically enough now, doing the JQ is boring. I do it in about 15 minutes. If I of all people can do the JQ, this is well within anyones very capable abilities.

Paying to bypass the JQ complete trivializes the boss and the game itself. It would be the definition of pay to win. You're just using in game currency to win instead of RL currency.

 

I feel like 999 bain collars is too easy

(I actually quite like the JQ, but maybe the alternative method will mean GMs don't need to deal with potential account sharers)

 

I think the JQ is an integral part of Zakum. Its a TRIAL for a reason. Took me 3 hours to clear the JQ and analysing each step of the JQ.

Maybe a series of quests. Say, helping the residents of ElNath. Kill X monsters, collect Y items, help Z NPCs. Imo, the biggest problem is the lack of a save point. Falling off isnt much of a deal when you do it at the start, but its an annoyance when you're almost at the end.
