Forgive the caps, but my league's commissioner finally renewed the league and I'm super excited. Our draft is on the 23rd. I started doing my research the moment he sent out the text. Anyways, I don't know how many Royalers are into the glorious "sport" of fantasy football, but I figure I'd create a discussion thread. Feel free to post about anything, be it draft strategies, sleepers, helpful tips, your own league, or what have you. I play in a 10-team league with a bunch of friends from my university. $20 buy-in, winner takes all. 0.25 PPR. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 D/ST, 1 K. Don't know what pick in the draft I'll be yet. ESPN randomizes the order and we find out when the draft opens up like an hour before the designated time, so we're stuck preparing for all 10 possibilities -__-. As I'm writing this, I'm thinking it would be cool to have a Royals fantasy football league. If enough people expressed interest (and I know that time zones make draft scheduling kinda hard), we should definitely get a league going. To make it interesting, we could have a meso pool (like buy-in is a certain amount, winner takes all or split it 75/25 between first/second or something). I find that when there is no money or actual payout involved, people tend to lose interest very quickly. So yeah, anything related to FF just post it here! And if anyone has interest in creating/joining a league, send me a PM and we can get a Skype group going. (Sidenote: If such a league already exists, someone point me in the proper direction, as I would love to join it)
Marty and I did a World Cup betting pool and Raddy and I did a March Madness betting pool, so I'd be down doing fantasy football! As long as I get Andrew Luck I'm happy. xP
*Targets Andrew Luck w/ first pick* Well, that's 3 of us so far then. Spread the word to other Royalers who you think would enjoy it! In the meantime, if either of you have any preferences with regards to league settings (and whether we want to use Yahoo!, ESPN, NFL, etc.), feel free to toss them around.
Perhaps @David would be down for this. I've only ever used Yahoo, I'd be down to do something else though. I've never done salary cap either, just 8-14 (I think 12 is the perfect number, 8 minimum) people picking in round robin format. You're starting it so your rules though.
I'm fine with Yahoo or ESPN, depending on popular opinion. I've never used Yahoo for football, but I am using it for baseball. It's pretty easy to use, so I can't imagine it being much different for football. I agree with the 8-team minimum though. Any fewer and it's just sad . I've never done salary cap or auction drafts and wouldn't really be interested (nor would I know how to set that up). As for round robin, can you elaborate on what you mean by that? Like, the way we tend to draft is to randomize the order, then do it in a snake fashion (like, the person who was last pick overall gets the first pick of the second round, if that makes sense). Is that kinda what you mean?
I like Yahoo and ESPN, never used NFL though. Personally I prefer ESPN a bit but I don't mind either way. I agree with basically everything else though.
Exactly Edit : I don't even know why I used that term to describe the draft, that's the term used to describe tournament formatting haha
Oh snap, a fourth person shows their face. Excellent. Halfway to the eight-team minimum. And frankly, I don't mind waiting until the day before the season opener to draft. Preseason injuries are striking everywhere.
The preseason is too cruel, Rob. Literally this. I mean Geno Smith is out because he got socked by a teammate (and Smith's a big dude). I can only imagine who else is going to be on that long list of injured players...
Goes both ways. It's a win because they get to replace him for however long he's out. A loss because that incident show's what little team camaraderie the Jet's have lol I'll call it out right now though, Jet's will be a shit show this season
It's not a win. It's an embarrassment for the franchise. If Fitzpatrick really was better then he would have outplayed Geno and won the starting job regardless. This is so typical for the Jets. As a diehard Dolphin fan living in the shadow of MetLife stadium I must say the entire situation is comical to me. Go Phins. FTJ. FTB. FTP.
As a Colts fan who doesn't like the Jets, I love how messed up the Jets are. It's just so damn entertaining.
I'm a Chiefs fan. I really have no opinion of the Jets one way or the other (unless we're like playing them or something). But it's amazing. They're a mess. I love it.
Yeah, as Daniel said. We gotta get at LEAST 8 total. (Sidenote, I'm starting my draft in 15 minutes. Got second pick overall. 0.25 PPR. Who do I want?)
