Seeing Proxy's banned thread, I see that botting is indeed serious in this server, but I don't fully understand the implications of the term. Apparently Proxy left a heavy object on his Hurricane key for 30 mins, afk'd, and got banned. That counts as botting. But I've seen clerics and priests do the same thing at gs2. Yes, I can't confirm they are or could be botting, but with heal and auto pot available, what's to stop anyone from afking there with a heavy object on their Heal button? PS. Thank god the mere fact I'm a warrior means I can't even bot
There's nothing to stop them, they just can't get caught. If they're caught, they too would be banned.
I think I didn't word my question correctly: How would you notice the difference between someone who's botting, and someone who really just needs to press the heal button indefinitely while staring at his screen?
One easy way to tell someone who is botting is the fact when we try to talking to them we get no reply another method is warping them to a different map and see if they continue attacking.

dude proxy was using 3rd party program ok i have a bm and u cant do that for 30mins because ur pet will only pot for u once if u spam hurricane so u have to move or u run out of mp
I don't think that botting should be not allowed. It's the player choice if they wanna level up this way. As longs as you don't use any "hacking" programs, it's harmless.
That's your opinion. As for the MR Staff, we do not allow botting at all. Anyone caught will serve a 7 day ban for the first offense, and a permanent ban for a subsequent offense.
Uhh...i dont think you can hold one key with out moving for 30 min with out hack...i remember testing this with matt long time ago when hurricane was bugged and i know that spells after certain amount of shoots with out taking damage or moving (i think its 100) stop doing damage and just the animation continues...i remember using some sort of hack that prevented this from happening long time ago
Hurricane registers as a single attack, so you can only do it with Hurricane, until your MP or arrows run out. With proxy he was caught swinging his bow (without arrows) so he was actually doing NO DAMAGE to the mobs, and he was still banned for seven days. So essentially the in-game system of 100 attacks/soul arrow/lack of MP did the job of stopping him to gain exp while botting, but he was still banned.
You can only afk like that using Hurricane, for all other skills there's a 100 cast limit. So a cleric/priest at GS2 would continue to show the heal animation, but stop hitting monsters.
For the record: I was not using 3rd party programs and I have been unbanned after serving my 7 day ban. @Zero Your pet will pot again after you regenerate your mp to 10-11. This is because you'll have enough mp to shoot one arrow with hurricane again, and the pet will always pot when this happens.
well it never happen for me cuz when i just hold down the key for like 1 or 2mins it stops because i have no more mp and the pet only pot once
