I love how this game has an actual economy, so I thought, why not Stock Exchanges as well? Maybe players could buy stocks and get returns on their investments; this would also act as potential money sinks. Implementation would be just one NPC carrying out the transactions, and maybe like daily announcements in FM or something about stock changes. Just an idea. I know most players aren't familiar with stocks so adding it would likely be a vain exercise. But it would be so cool and give us more to do.
Don't see this as a money sink. If people lose money from this, they'll just avoid using this piece of content. If people make a lot of money, that defeats the purpose of a money sink.
I can see this as a lottery some win some don't. Though keeping a stock exchange continuously updated seems like a lot of work.
Sounds interesting but given the monopoly power of the rich and how small this economy is collusion and unfair play will happen Example: A guild of rich elites decided to hog all ap resets and only slowly release the ap resets to keep the supply low while demand high. Anyone with a basic background of economy will know a stock market with the basis of essential items such as ap reset and chaos scrolls in here is a seriously bad idea. If however there are stimulation of companies in maple (i have no idea how u gonna do that) that will be more feasible. In short, leave the commodities such as chaos, white scroll, ap reset and other related stuff alone and create something that is of purely npc value. (that will have a slight bias towards negative market decrease such that no one buy all the stocks and earn money) To add on: People will lose and people will gain. Thats how it works. Unless there are tell tale signs are market signals and strategies like the real world i see this stock market concept more of a lottery concept that averages out make u lose for says (-2%) in the long run. However in the long run if the stock market is created like this, firstly there will be no one that will play (it averages out in the long run) and it will be obsolete after implementation as people will rather spend their time elsewhere of 100% earning money (as in even if lottery averages out at ~0% in the long run). I agree and say this idea is impossible to implement as a meso sink without anyone else exploiting it.
I get the feeling OP just wants to abuse poor investment choices made by other players to profit immensely without having to do the legwork that is required in the fm. As said above you would have to make it a negative-sum game in order for it to be a money-sink in the long run. Stock exchange =/= a negative sum game as companies appreciate in value. Additionally, if the companies don't grow there is no incentive in investing to begin with. Forex would be closer to what the OP has in mind - negative-sum game with negative interest rates effectively being dividends. There's an obvious con for a forex like system though - if the value of meso fluctuates wildly then the economy will actually go down because people will lose confidence in trading for it. If the value of meso isn't very volatile then people wouldn't be able to make much profit without having a significant starting capital. I don't like the idea of a lottery though. There is no real involvement in a lottery besides purchasing a ticket whereas a stock/forex platform would require a lot of involvement. Then again, I don't even play so ignore everything I said
The money sink in this idea would be paying a certain amount of money to the 'bank' when buying a stock share. But the basic idea of stocks is to increase value and thus gaining a profit. Thus you would create more money and put it out in the game. In this case it wouldn't be a money sink, but quite the contrary.
