The only way I would want to see leech being nerfed is if mages getting buffed in their bossing.
I'm not against leeching, but I wouldn't really mind if they removed it.
The biggest problem if they do nerf/remove it for whatever reason, mages/bishops need to have some sort of buff so they don't become a lot less useful.

    To the person who mentioned that newer players focus their entire meso pool around leeching;

At first glance, that seems like a problem, but take a step back and look at it. Those players get to 4th job, level 135, level 155 faster but how much money have they spent on their equips? Next to nothing. They've spent all their money on their level when they could've saved money and trained themselves, which would've been doubly efficient as the only downside is that it takes somewhat longer.

Buying leech is still a purchase, it still costs you money, and thus it's still a choice and by absolutely no means required or necessary to anyone that is not full INT and HP Washing their character... 99% of which have made their own Bishop or Archmage to leech themselves (@Andreas, you are the 1%), which means they worked for the ability to both save time by leeching and save money but not having to buy it.

I think that a lot of people forget that buying leech is a purchase; it has the very blatant and obvious downside of costing money. As @Plenty would say... "mesos is love, mesos is life."

Hence why most of the people start with mages since they require little to no funds and make way more money once they hit 120, hence why many of them try to buy leech at 75+ since 1hour at ws gives you about 6 levels which is kinda insane comparing it to how many levels you would be getting by training. But I agree, it applies to most other jobs.

There are two things (that I'm currently thinking of) that I don't like about this kind of Maple - leeching and spammable ultimates, but I think it would be hypocritical of me to ask for a cooldown on ultimates (in exchange for some other buff) when I'm against changes like Fire Arrow being able to hit 3 enemies. I just can't help but wonder what possessed them to make such abilities spammable in the first place...

Increase party exp for more members is a good way, like a team of 6 gives x more exp, for non boss mobs.
Nerf party exp when you have less members.
Increase damage for third job characters.

I don't believe in nerfing other classes to balance it out rather give a bonus to encourage partying with people.
Can't have 5 party members afk for 1 mage and everyone benefits on it ~f3

    Listen up fuck boys.

Leeching should be nerfed because holy symbol+genesis allows ANY CLASS TO DO NOTHING AND RECEIVE UP TO NEARLY 2 TIMES MORE EXP THAN GRINDING SOLO.
You have to be blind to not see a problem with this.

It is BY FAR the most efficient way to level from 75-135.

What the fuck does this mean?

It means don't bother making ANY class other than a bishop first because otherwise you will be grinding to 135 like a fucking slave while others (who made a bishop first) are leeching and leveling TWICE AS FAST.

    WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Community. EVERYONE is leeching because it's the fastest way to level. There are no grinding parties at skeles/ulu/wolf spiders/ himes/ any other map.
Less people are at pqs. Less people are partying or doing quests together. 80% of the server are bishops. Everyone is doing their own thing leeching their way to a high level. A server without leech is a server with more friends and opportunities for connections.

There is a reason leeching was nerfed in GMS.

By the way, lol at "leeching destroys a source of income for bishops". What the fuck? Bishops are already the most overpowered, rich, easiest to fund and fastest leveling class. Why the fuck would they need MORE ways to make money??

Please save this beautiful, gorgeous server with fantastic GMS by nerfing leeching.

I can forgive anyone that has leeched or previously sold leech. #BRINGBACKMAPLEROYALS!

Yes, leoye, I share your pain, but

That just isn't true; I would've passed it off as figure of speech, if it wasn't for the emphasis on "everyone"

Why does it matter to me if other people level faster? I get to play the game, they get to level faster - is there really a winner here?

I suggest that blood is used as currency instead of mesos whenever one wants to leech
Implementation of such a system would be difficult, though

To the people saying that everyone is buying leech, you guys are 150% wrong. There were 3 people in my guild online yesterday within the 75-135 range and all 3 were grinding, so idk wtf you people are talking about. There are people who make skele/ulu2/himes parties to train. In fact, people smega for parties every god damn day. You guys obviously arent looking hard enough. Its called using a god damn smega. They are 1mil, learn to invest in one. You can buy 40-50 of them with the money you refuse to spend on leech.

Secondly, if i worked hard to make my god damn F/P arch mage and a HS mule so that i could reap the benefits of having a 4th job ultimate skill, why cant i take advantage of it as long as its within the rules of the server? If i studied hard, got a degree, got a good paying job, and bought a 2016 model car that could run 50 mph (80? km/h for you non-muricans) faster than your 1999 Honda, they should nerf the shit out of my car? Get real.

Lastly, why the hell do you guys care what others are doing? We all play this game for different reasons and we probably played during different times. Bob might have stopped playing after v55, and bill might have stopped playing after v78. Its maplestory...you write your own damn story

Wow so there was only 3 people in your guild grinding. You don't think that number is too low? It could easily be 50 or even 100 if leeching was nerfed.

You need to wake up to the bigger picture. Maplestory is not real life.

When something is unbalanced that it is being abused by 80% of the community and overall HURTS the community and the economy by discouraging teamwork, yes it should be fucking nerfed. You seriously don't see a problem when the majority of your guild is leeching and 100% of skele channels are bishops giving leech?

This is MapleRoyals the greatest MMORPG private server in the world.

Right now this is server is EVERYONE MAKE A BISHOP AND SELF LEECH AND REAP THE BENEFITS BECAUSE I WORKED HARD.

You worked hard for a F/P mage and HS mule and now you get the benefits. F/Ps are seriously good at bossing (IMO very underated) and incredible at farming. In addition, having a HS mule makes you super valuable to any party.

Do I think you should have the ability to give someone basically x2 EXP when they sit on a rope and do nothing?

    Hell no.

BTW leeching is not like wavedashing in melee. Not even close. Wavedashing in melee is an advanced technique that allows the game to grow deeper competitively by giving skilled players more options. It was unintended, but it is 100% healthy for the community and competitive scene.

Can we say the same about leeching in RMS?

There's a server out there that put in extensive measures to nerf leech and it became probably the most toxic environment I've ever seen on a MapleStory server. Bishop mains were actively ridiculed as the worst class in the game, and I'm not even going to BEGIN to talk about what I/L and F/P mages went through; they were basically subhuman.

This community is just fine and is probably one of the more enriching and friendly communities I've ever been in. People are always trying to help one another, whether is be by leeching one another or partying with one another.

F/P mages rank third last among boss DPS. The second last is I/L mages. The last is Bishops. They're all SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than the weakest non-mage class (Shadowers not using Explosion, if I recall). I don't know where you're coming up with half the things you say, honestly I don't. You are so tunnelvisioned on your personal hatred of leech that no matter how much the people that actually play this server and have been a part of it for a long time put it in front of your eyes, you simply will not accept that you are wrong.

Leech is big and it's an important and controversial part of this game but it is not ruining the world. Stop treating it like it is.

If anything, leech ruins an individuals gameplay experience. Thats why individuals have the decision on whether to leech or not to leech. I think it ruins the fun, so I don't leech. Others might not enjoy mid game (lvl 70-120) and without leech their gameplay experience wouldn't be fun. Leeching doesn't put anyone at an advantage or disadvantage. It doesn't effect the server in any way.

I don't know what these "extensive" measures were, but what makes you think that the nerf on leech was the/a reason for the toxic environment?

Let's stop there. First, ranking is a statistic - it doesn't show potential. Also, he might have had something other than raw dps in mind, like, seriously, why is everyone obsessed with dps as if it's the only thing that matters in a fight

When I play here, I occasionally see a message saying something like "Player feedback is always appreciated on the forums". This isn't the first time I've been driven to doubt if that's really true

It makes perfect sense that bishops are the lowest DPS in the game because they have the most essential skill in the game.

Mages have among the lowest boss DPS because they have incredible farming abilities. Someone mentioned earlier, a pro, I think he was Inversion said that making a mage is a tradeoff. You have stronger farming abilities but lower DPS.

When you introduce leeching, the trade off gap is eliminated. Now, it would be stupid to make an attacking class first because you can simply make a farming class first and leech your attacking class to 135+. This is what smart players like Plenty has done, and he is godly.

It is not ruining the world, but it is certainly hurting new players (non-mage), discouraging grinding parties, creating an unfair gap between farming classes and attacking classes(in terms of exp/hour) , and destroying the economy because so many new players dump their mesos towards leech.

I'm sorry, but I'm confused. What else matters in a boss fight? o.o I guess stance for a warrior and maybe avoid for a NL. But at the end of the day that all leads back to DPM.

That isn't MapleRoyals, that's MapleStory. Even before 4th job everyone and their mother made a cleric/priest because it was that efficient. Clerics could farm mesos better than any other class because they used zero pots back when every other class had to chug the incredibly inefficient pots that were available before NLC came into existence.

    Please don't.

Not only do F/P's have among the lowest DPS in the entire game they offer very poor utility, even more poor mob control than I/L branches and a majority of situations where their ultimate spam can be useful they are drastically outclassed by melee classes or get laughed at because the mobs in question often possess some form of resistance to their spells.

They're also outclassed in terms of farming by other mage branches since they can't do O2 efficiently and it takes them longer to efficiently farm other excellent farming spots(Gobies come into mind)

How does this effect you though?

The last time you went into this rant multiple people pointed out you just weren't trying hard enough. If I smegad for WS, Himes, Ulu, or Skele parties right now I would get multiple offers for parties. The only one that might be a bit slow is Wolf Spiders.

There's also the matter that the person or leechee in question is either paying a massive amount of mesos per hour that they can't generate without gacha/merching, or leeching themselves which requires a 4th job mage, adequate enough power to at least 2hit whatever map they're leeching at, and a HS mule for archmages. Leeching is more efficient than grinding in EXP per hour but it does come at a pretty massive cost and/or time investment.

I'd struggle to call it an "advanced" technique in the same vein as wavedashing but from a competitive standpoint Leeching not only allows heavy HP washing but a much more efficient way into 4th job at the cost of time or equipment, which is what the competitive aspect of MapleStory is about.

The game really doesn't open up/begin until 4th job anyway.

Honestly, I don't really know - but I also have next to no experience with bosses. But, if there's no time limit and if the boss doesn't heal, you can technically take as long as you please, right?
