In regards to the current issues with the stuck accounts (and no fix button on the website), I thought I'd explain how a previous server I was a staff member for handled the same situation. Due to people abusing the website fix to dupe, they instead implemented an account unsticker on the log in page of the game. If you tried to log in and received the "account already logged in" error, you would press the log in button a second time. The second press would unstick your account and allow you to log in. I'm not sure how this was implemented, or why it prevented people hard disconnecting themselves - my guess is that a stuck account doesn't actually have characters online (since you can't find the stuck characters with /find) so it checked if any characters were online first before unsticking the account. This would prevent people from multiclienting and attempting to disconnect themselves that way. Anywhoooo - this isn't all that informative, apologies I have no idea how this resolution actually worked or was implemented. I just thought I'd put the basic idea out there and staff could either brainstorm it or dismiss it c:
Believe it or not, we used to have that feature here and we just disabled it with the recent SC. If you put an _ before your username and pressed Login, it would do the same thing to unstick your account. Because it's basically the same thing, we had to disable it to prevent duping as well
Yeah... I'm not sure what was different about their game client unstick vs their website unstick - surely there was something otherwise it wouldn't have resolved anything. Don't have a clue what it was though! Hopefully you guys work something out soon - seems like you're being flooded with manual unstick requests :c
