This is mostly for research purposes (finding the biggest demographic for scrolled equips heh) I'm well aware bishops are miles ahead of other classes in terms of sheer numbers, but which classes do you think are popular as well? NLs, heroes, BMs?
Here's a thread I started a while back with the same question: http://royals.ms/forum/threads/mapleroyals-class-census.24940/ Here's the actual results thanks to @Katsuruka
Bishop because the class is very broken imo. Support classes should not kill efficiently. People should not be able to level up while not playing the game.
Can you stop? You have brought up leeching in so many threads and your comments are turned down every single time because you have no clue what you're talking about. Just because the nerfing of leech would make it more enjoyable for you, doesn't mean it would make it more enjoyable for everyone else. I can guarantee you that the vast majority of the server would be against a nerf to leeching. You fail to accept the fact that party training IS a thing on this server and it IS efficient. How do you think most warriors/shadowers got to 200?
While bishops are the most popular, scrolling mage equips isn't necessarily the best way to go IMO. Int equips, as I'm sure you know, are the most valuable as they're used for HP washing (Considering this separate from Mage equips as they need to be open to all classes to be really valuable) For top/bot markets I think Warrior and Thief are pretty competitive. Claws and Bows seem to always be valuable and in high demand, and I feel like Shadowers have gotten a boost in interest recently, so daggers aren't bad either. This is from the perspective of someone who doesn't really merch though so I'm far from the best person to trust on this haha.
What you would change would ruin the game for me to the point that I would honestly quit. Stay on topic. Leech makes the class popular, that's it. This is not a leech discussion thread. Go open another one so that I can close it when it gets out of hand if you wish, but it's not going to get talked about any more in this thread. It seems like half of you saw "popular class" and then saw what the first offtopic post was and then decided to just have a discussion about leech and grind. Read the OP's post, for crying out loud. He even said in his post to disclude Bishops. And one last thing, to everyone else; please, PLEASE stop engaging the troll. The more you respond to this nonsense, the more it gets out of hand every bloody time.
edit: sorry i sounded mad. i didn't realize you meant leeching to 135. thought you meant that we can just sit through all the ht's and zaks and just hs and make mesos. also thought you were someone else. but theres nothing wrong with leech? you have to pay for it so if you make the mesos to buy the leech then you played the game imo. maybe we should stop giving nx for voting, cuz youre getting something without playing the game f3 Spoiler: offtopic response I shouldn't be able to level up while not playing the game? could you not. not once (besides once when I was hsing a zak duo that jeen and gerg were doing and were really nice and let me stay in the zak for exp.) has anyone EVER let me stay in an ht party for exp. same with zak but zak exp becomes shit eventually, especially since you cant even do enough single target damage to kill stuff. if youre not trolling and you actually believe that, you should realize that mages are meant for aoe damage, making them better grinders in some cases, but when it comes to bossing, bishops suck and are probably the worst in the game right, and I/l f/p mages come right after us. so if youre not trolling please tell me how I'm supposed to level if they took away my bishops gen and no one lets me in the boss parties for exp. also I was with cutexiaobear when she was leveling from 199 to 200, and from seeing how fast 199-200 was for whoever that last bucc that hit 200 was, he did it at least 3 times faster than her and she was duoing skeles with me ffrom 199-200 and she was 1 hit and me 2 hit so yeah, once we hit lv 120 we level super fast and we can make good without having to find an ht party, but later on we level slow af unless you actually invest billions into getting gen 30 and good gear so you can 2 hit oblivion to duo grind, or you somehow find an ht squad that's nice enough to let you stay in an ht party. and before you say "oh well people should let bishops stay in the party for hp at ht" that's not fair. our single target damage is shit and the dps classes are appleing at least 2 times, usually more (i think like 13-15m per apple) per ht run so the run is faster and more efficient. just like life, not all games are fair f3 I'm not trying to put you down and I respect that everyones allowed to have an opinon but that was dumb af what I read of you saying imo/tbh. also, a while ago, you were being a dick to my friend in the fm for no reason from what I heard. could you please not start random arguments with people in the fm? (if youre not glhf then ignore this part but I'm pretty sure you are him/her) and if you reply don't expect a reply back on this thread cuz I'm like 99% certain youre a troll tbh. #############also to stay on subject, mage gear is really big because a lot of it you can use as hp washing gear as well <3 but fs and pgc and scg are pretty important since besides mages, everything else uses attack not matt/int#####################
To provide something actually useful towards this thread, by the way, here's an updated census to what Katsuruka posted a while back: Bishop - 1742 Night Lord - 718 Dark Knight - 467 ----(passed over Hero) Hero - 451 ----(fell behind Dark Knight) Bowmaster - 428 Ice/Lightning Mage - 387 Shadower - 275 Corsair - 214 ----(passed over Buccaneer) Buccaneer - 206 ----(fell behind Corsair) Fire/Poison Mage - 162 Marksman - 102 ----(passed over Paladin) Paladin - 98 ----(fell behind Marksman) Only polled the characters 120+ and advanced to their 4th job. If you're curious about gear, generic gear scrolled for INT will always be popular as they serve dual purposes; mages can use them as equipment for damage, and any character can use them for MP washing. Lower level common equips preferred; Maple Shields, Bathrobes, level 15 Earrings (or lv25 Fallen Leaf Earrings), Work Gloves (Yellow comes w/ base INT). As for job specifics, rarer ones (female warrior equips in particular) would likely fetch higher prices than stuff that drops at more common spots (Neos Tops for Warriors are wanted by a lot of people, and they drop from two very common grind spots). I'm not much of a merch either, but I've played a couple of warriors and I noticed that the tops for them tend to be less expensive than the tops I've been dealing with more recently for my Night Lord.
In regards to OPs question, most non-int equipment aren't even worth that much unless they are extremely well scrolled or near perfect clean. I mean like I said, most people are leeching so only equips that are very, very good are actually worth while to attain and are sell-able. MOD EDIT: Pruning out the part that he got the warning for.
Since I thought it'd be interesting, here's the number of new characters for each class since between May 9th and now, and also movement in rankings of popularity. Bishop: 998 Night Lord: 401 Dark Knight 303 (Up one) Hero: 253 (Down one) Bowmaster: 247 I/L: 227 Shadower: 143 Corsair: 124 (Up one) Buccaneer: 111 (Down one) F/P: 94 Marksman: 57 (Up one) Pally: 49 (Down one)
Spoiler: in response to leoye123, but this is off topic so..... spoiler. Despite the danger of feeding the internet troll, I really had to respond to this. Without genesis, bishops would literally NEVER. GAIN. EXPERIENCE. Nobody wants a free leecher if they themselves are putting money for pots/apples as well as good equips, not to mention time. Neither should they have to. But, as you say, bishops contribute a great deal — buffs, HS, door, etc. That's great, and yes, they have to be in party to do so. But you forgot one major point: bishops get kicked right before bosses die so that they don't leech exp, since that's not particularly fair to the attackers. Also, those buffs or door or HS don't matter in those 30 seconds before the boss dies. Furthermore, I hardly would count doing 1+hours of damage is equivalent to a bishop casting a couple spells here and there. As someone with both attackers and a bishop that I use as a main, I don't believe I should be gaining insane leech exp when I bishop for boss parties for those reasons, unless the attackers I'm with don't mind. So tell me, how am I supposed to level without an attacking skill? If I can't have a good single target attack skill (since I'm a supportive class), and I also can't have a good aoe skill (from what you say), I guess that leaves me with the only option of leveling solely through..... what, leeching? Ironic, isn't it? On topic, those stats are so interesting. I feel like I've been in my own bubble maybe with my friends, but I really didn't realize corsairs were so relatively unpopular.
thanks mike for fixing my horrible grammar when I rant x.x and i'm too lazy to see who said it, but yeah you can make mesos off of gear even if its not scrolled uber well or not near perf -.- not as much as selling a 110 att clean shiner bow but still a lot imo. and i thought the research was to find out which gear got scrolled the most so he could find out which ones to scroll and make mesos? was i off topic the whole time? LOL
To be fair, I don't have a F/P myself, so this is just what I've heard from friends. Though they make up for it in fourth job, F/P have a relatively tougher 2nd/3rd job experience compared to I/L (or bishops for that matter).
FP'd late 2nd/3rd job is fantastic. It's one of the fastest, if not the fastest way to train in the game. With enough int you can keep up with or even surpass standard leeching thanks to mist. Costs a lot of pots though. The problem with FPs (aside the fact that they're archmages) is that they get beat out by I/L Archmages due to the existence of O2/O4 combined with Freezing utility in every situation they don't 1hit. It's also my personal opinion that Blizzard and Chain Lightning are among the most visually pleasing skills in the game. New source might be enough to even out the Archmage branches themselves a bit since F/P's will be able to 1hit every neutral map sooner.
