Black screen during ht

Recently people have had problems with crashing/dcing at horntail and have gotten some kind of error code(not me).
but just a couple of days ago during main body my friends client just turned black and then shut down, a minute or two after same thing happens to my client.
when I was hting yesterday 3/6 people in my party had the same thing blackscreen client closed an no error message and all of us never rly had problems with horntail before.

We all knew already that we will get rewarped by gm if we get an error message, but its not clear to me and some of my friends if we should be getting rewarped due to blackscreen and client closing and it only started happening about 2 days ago. I dont even think gms are sure of what to do in this situation since its so new only happened the last two days.

I also checked with some different gms and some tell me they would warp and some wouldnt, it would be nice if gms were on the same page about this.

edit: what I've experienced is nothing like kennys ss, I dont get the slightest warning that anything is going wrong its all fine untill the screen suddenly turn black and the client closes.

 

Yeah, that happened to me too during a run on.. Sunday I think? I was using vmware, and I've never had any problems with it before.

EDIT: We have decided that since the cause is still unclear and the result is that of a GFX issue, that no warps will be given for black screens from now on. We highly advise that players GXF often in bosses to avoid this (as players we know not many people bother to anymore). If this carries on happening to people who religiously GXF we will look into it again

This is happening to me too and it never happened before. For me it looks like a GFX bug, but for some reason my other client is fine(survived rest of the run) even though I GFX'd on both. Looks something like this, then eventually screen is black and I'm forced to close it.

 

The leftside screen in the above post is experiencing a gfx issue that should be fixable with alt+enter (entering or leaving fullscreen mode). That particular issue is unrelated to the topic of this post.

 

Just in case this isn't purely a HT issue, I randomly blackscreened on my GM today for absolutely no reason. I logged in and a second or so later, blackscreened with no error message. The game simply closed completely.

The server wasn't down, I didn't have any bugged items in my inventory, I wasn't logging into a bugged channel or map and my internet was fine. Also, since I logged into Henesys channel 8, I greatly doubt gfx/boss lag was the issue! Less than a minute later I logged in absolutely fine with no issues. Er... hold on - I'm sure I saw Henesys when I logged in and dced and my character isn't in Henesys! When I successfully logged back in, I was in the right place, which was Kerning, where I'd been investigating something.

 

I was just Papping today and my Bishop Client just crashed without any error today.
I was hitting with Genesis before I dced. Though I highly doubt that Genesis got anything to do with that.

 

Did you GFX during Pap?

 

ht logs:
3days ago 1st and 2nd ht both i got black screen quite early during main body didnt gfx once(never gfxed before and have done probably over 200 successful ht runs without doing it same computer setup didnt install something new or anything).
2days ago 1st ht that day my client got black screen and closed also quite early on during main body never gfxed. 2nd ht that day never gfxed survived whole run.
yesterday 1st run never gfxed dced during main body. 2nd run gfxed a lot survived whole run.

so gfxing might help ill try it again to day and see what happens. I'll update after next run.

 

Since I have heard genesis being mentioned a few times any chance someone was using it when you and your friends crashed?

 

I dont think its likely thats what caused it, atleast not everytime. On one run 2ppl got it during last arm and no one was using genesis.

 

I've never had to GFX on Pap. My bucc's client did not crash but only my Bishop's one did.

 

I'll add my own experiences to this thread:
When it comes to Horntail I never experienced blackscreens + closing without an error until I started with Raccoon Horntails with Mike. Though my problem there was easily solved by GFX'ing at legs, head B and right arm.

This made me think it's a GFX error on my own part, as well when I started doing Snowman and had to gfx for the 3rd body.

But.. The last 2 days I seem to get the same kind of blackscreens + closing without an error while grinding at Gobys. I can't imagine having to gfx there .-. ...

I was at HT last night and GFX'd every stage start and end. I still ended up blackscreening and disconnecting at main body fight. I am playing on VMWare with compatibility settings as advised on the guide. This has not happened before until last night.

Want to throw this out there to every player who is currently experiencing issues; just because you may not have ever had to before does not mean it isn't related to your problem now. We still highly suggest GFXing to every player attending boss runs, regardless of whether you think you need to or not.
