Concept of tree: This tree is about escaping an abusive relationship. My twist on "Sweetest Story" is that although the relationship itself may not have been sweet, escaping one must feel liberating and it is a moment every survivor should be proud of. Instead of loving someone else, my tree is about loving yourself. On the left, there are bats (represents physical abuse), alcohol, and drugs, which are all common symptoms of abusive relationships. Although "love" (the heart boxes) might be on top, its foundations are all wrong. The feathers on the right are meant to symbolize escapement from this horrible past. Ending an abusive relationship is hard and may seem almost impossible; many victims still feel that they love their significant other. But you need love yourself before you can love anyone else, and realize that if they truly loved you, they wouldn't hurt you. Be brave, be courageous, and be free.

@Jen Haha I figured that might have been the case. I have an unedited copy of my entry, but imo without the extra snow, it ruins the concept so I'll be dropping out of the individual portion of the contest. Still, I can't wait to see the other trees look like!
