Do I need this quest to enter horntail? I want to buy a pendant soon. I did the Manon cry and got dragon elixers already and I'm on this quest. I already have the papulatus and pianus certificate. I'm gonna get the zak certificate soon. Which monsters of the htpq drop the mark of the squad? How many people do I need to enter? Some say just 2 and some say 6.
Once you've completed the "Making the Secret Medicine for Transformation" quest, you're done. There are no other prerequisites. Just leave the rest of the work to the HT Squad that brings you in for the run.
the other mobs to get the other etc for The Badge of a Squad Member quest come from skeles after going through the entire horntail prequest again. edit: 3-6 people to go in horntail prequest

No, the quest you're referring to allows you to skip the HTPQ, but is not required to fight Horntail.
You don't need badge of a squad member quest completed unless you're planning to lead one in the future. As long as the party leader has the dragon certificate/mark of dragon squad w/e, they can bring pt members who don't have that quest done into HT (skipping HTPQ). The quest guide is a bit inaccurate. You can hand in the cry, tough skin, marrrow and dagger to moira and get dragon elixirs straight away unlike what's being mentioned in those guides where you need to have a pt before hand. You can either find friends to complete that quest together or you can just always rely on other people to have that quest done. HT squads usually don't go through the entire HTPQ.
