I have a lot of spare time and little to fill it with nowadays so I figured I'd open this back up for now. For those who don't know I am a crappy 21 year old bodybuilder. I have been coached by IFBB Pros and am in daily contact with numerous pros, top level coaches, and a pretty large number of both natural and unnatural competitors. Although I am majoring in aerospace engineering, I have spent a large portion of the last 5-6 years of my life researching and learning as much as I can about all topics relating to lifting, bodybuilding, nutrition, etc. etc. One of my goals is to eventually be confident in the amount of knowledge I have to consider myself a real contest prep coach and hopefully coach people into some higher level shows. I did my first competition in December as well, so I do have some personal experience with contest prep.

Feel free to ask me any questions you want and I'll gladly answer them to the best of my ability!

Very general question that can't be answered in any specific sort of way. Everyone's daily diet on mapleroyals will be different from one another. Some people respond better to carbs than they do to fats, some the other way around. During prep I was essentially just rotating different quantities of oats, egg whites, chicken, lean steak, white fish, green beans, potato, and the occasional muffin preworkout. If I am not prepping for a contest there is a lot more room to play with fun food like pizza and burgers, though. The "cleaner" you eat the better, but in the end it sort of comes down to a numbers game of protein, fats, and carbs you intake and burn each day.

I usually suggest push/pull/legs to people for a routine - I have run this for a while but have sort of moved on from a specific routine. I think everyone should be lifting weights, whether you are a guy or a girl. It will make you look 20x better than any other form of working out in my opinion and you will not turn into a man overnight. I'd suggest pick up a routine you find enjoyable that you can do consistently over a long period of time, because health, fitness, bodybuilding, whatever it may be for you, is a marathon and not a sprint. I do highly suggest hitting muscle groups 2x a week though.

Abs are 95% a result of bodyfat percentage and 5% a result of you working them. No matter how much you work them or how developed they are, you will not have good abs at a high bodyfat percentage. If you want to maintain abs year round it's really just a matter of tracking what you eat and ensuring you are not putting on unneeded body fat. If you dont want to track your food you are going to have a more difficult time, or you are just going to have to make sure you are extremely active to make up for all the extra junk that you are not accounting for in your diet. But really it is just a matter of being a low enough body fat percentage to show them.

Diet/nutrition/food is the answer to most questions. To be honest.
"How do I gain strength?" - Food
"How do I put on more muscle?" - Eat more
"I hit a plateau what should I do?" - Food
    "How do I get abs?" - Diet/nutrition.

If you want me to be more specific some where just reply again with another question about my response

You don't show your face on online communities, but you just linked your Instagram with pictures of your face?
    ...okay
You still need to take a timestamped selfie in order to prove you're the man in the pictures, otherwise this thread seems dodgy
I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm just saying this is the proof that should be shown when making a claim such as this
Anyone can take pictures off the internet and claim they're the one in them, so taking a timestamped photo would make any future claims like that null and pointless

That is right..I don't..until someone really feels the need to have me "prove" I am who I am and i go lol okay here

Go ahead and comment "hi" on my instagram and I'll go ahead and reply "sup spooky maple brohon". Or did I somehow find 45 random pictures of the same person over the course of like 4 years and make a fake instagram?

Considering these pictures are on my personal instagram and facebook... pretty sure I don't need to do anything to prove it lol

Back to the topic please, thanks.

I'm not about to make an Instagram just to prove a point on a forum for a video game, you know what you have to do, I'm not about to sit here and go back and forth for an hour when literally all you have to do is take a picture of yourself with something like "hey royals" written on a piece of paper

If that really is you in the pics, then nice pecs

    This is rlly him, lol.
And even if it wasn't , would be something new in royals at least, everyone I know pretends to be a girl, not a conditioned/full bodybuilder.

I'm sure that shit takes massive dedication if that is you and massive props for that.

I'm just a pleb who knows nothing about body building but whenever I see body builders ripped to this extent I just cringe inside a little. Not because it's embarrassing or whatever, just because they look weirdly fragile and kinda unhealthy, as opposed to Boxers/Powerlifters etc who are strong as fuck but still look healthy.

I'm kinda interested if your body feels strained all the time or if you just feel normal?

Again, people should do what makes them happy, this is just my observation.

Nice! I'm actually graduating after this semester with a Nutrition degree and pursuing to become a registered dietician, so if anyone has any questions regarding dieting or food in general I'd be glad to help with what I know.

That being said OP, nice job! I've always been on/off lifting, recently more powerlifting before the past few months since I've been busy. Just need a little more motivation to get back into it lol.

    Awesome build (y)

I have a question... I tend to lose muscle faster then gaining them (and by fast I mean you can see a different in size after 1-2weeks of not properly working out, partly due to exams and assignments) I'm an ectomorph btw. :( could that be the reason why that tends to happen? Or does it normally happens when you don't work out for that long. ~f4

Oh ya during prep bodybuilders are not healthy and the body is under lots of stress. A bodybuilding prep is probably one of the most strenuous things you can put your body through. At the end your body is literally in starvation survival mode, you are doing everything in your power to force your body to lose fat over muscle even though your body is literally doing everything it can to do the opposite. Come show day you feel pretty shitty, and if you decide to use diuretics your body wont function correctly for days afterwards (can't eat for shit, and if you do..your stomach doesn't work). The whole process is pretty shitty and you shouldn't do it unless it is something you really want to do.

Also, it is where we are most likely to get injured. You gotta be pretty careful towards the end lol

Thanks, ya consistency is key. I'm in a rut myself actually. When life gets busy somethings gotta give unfortunately
