If I remember correctly, Neo Tokyo>Neo City, as OP stated. I do remember some players expressing discontent that GMS wasn't getting the full Neo Tokyo experience. +1 for Neo Tokyo, as long as it is an alternative spot to play at.
I think this is a great suggestion for the simple reason that grinding 105-200 at skeles/petris gets old pretty fast. Sure you could do daily bosses, but they're not very rewarding XP wise to some classes. Plus it seems like neo tokyo would encourage party leveling as well, which is always a good thing.
i have played those areas, so i know about them and really enjoyed it. so a big +1 here! i remember the castle where i got lost sometimes hahaha....
Won't be really fair since it used to be a melee only boss (since he do around 14k aoe magic damage) and ranged characters won't be able to do it without hb and a lot of washing so they won't be able to get to neo tokyo at all (later the boss got nerfed to lvl 130 and around 5k damage but it was post big bang I think?). You also had to do a jump quest every time before the boss and if he wasn't in your channel and you cced you had to do it again so it's really annoying and he only spawned once in 48 hours. Players who will want to train at neo tokyo from around 130 won't be able to do it as well since you'll need to be 170+ to start the boss (175 to get party exp) Anyway I support any new city to come since the game really lacks end game content in general
you're right, but all of these constraints can be patched, right? (despite how much effort it takes, or how hard it would be).
If we ever see Neo Tokyo it should be tough, this is end game content so patching it to make it easier is wrong.
I see. All the idea of bringing it back is amazing, thematically, and would be very useful for high leveled players and content itself for the server. The JQ required to enter, the boss' HP, and even the already stated level requirement are cool imo. Acceptable in terms of difficuly, at least. Except for the issue with the insane damage he does. Crashes with the common problem involving HP washing into end-game experience, which makes the whole feel of the server itself not nostalgic, but being deliberatedly unfair and "private server-ish". I think if only that +14,000 HP damage could be decreased based on a regular player's HP with HB, we would be all set. : )))
How can it be unfair and "private server-ish" and not nostalgic if this is how it was on the real server?
Nostalgia is a subjective experience not something that can be used to draw objective comparissons with. I'm assuming a very large majority of the MapleRoyals community never got to HP wash in the original MapleStory and most of them also found out about it through private servers. As it was never part of their experience, being forced into it may feel strange and actually be in contrast with their feelings of nostalgia. Regardless if it was a mechanic that existed in the old MapleStory, it is new and tedious for many players. I personally do not wish to see the mechanics changed, I'm just trying to explain how I don't see "Nostalgia" can be used like an argument to draw objective comparissons with, ever.
