As a longtime user of Teamspeak with quite a bit of experience, here are my views on the idea: I personally see no use for it for somewhere like Royals where everyone uses Skype and are constantly in group chats/group calls. However, with that said, if players want to start their own server, publish the IP, and encourage others to join, I see nothing wrong with doing so as it isn't really the staff's place to tell you what you can and can't do out side of MR.

Of course, since this server would be an unofficial server and would not be run or moderated, the rules of MR would not apply to the Teamspeak server. This means, no abuse complaints can be filed and no player can be banned as a direct result of something that may have happened on the Teamspeak server. (For example, some 10 year old who comes in screaming the N word on Teamspeak cannot receive a ban in game).

So while there is no desire or need for there to be an official MapleRoyals Teamspeak server, I would encourage anyone who wants to take the ball and run with the idea. I am sure you will see staff members on there and maybe the TS server will grow and become the new medium. However, I'm quite content with my Skype where I can better control who I talk to :)

Matt, I can work out permissions with you and whomever else I make server admins for this. This means I give special permissions to people of certain ranks to have the power to kick, ban, etc. I know the system quite well, so I could work it pretty easily to suit your needs.

I'd say set up the TS server first and tweak later.
The only way you will see if it works out or not is to test it.
Make like a forum post with the ip or maybe even on the main site?
IMO this is a great idea and if there would be a TS channel i'd surely participate.

Well, if it's OKed by everyone, I'll work on the Teamspeak now making it the unofficial Royals TS. Change the channels, name, everything,

When you've fixed it up, make a post in Maple Royals > General Discussion about it, and I'll sticky the post for you so it's easy for people to find.

Thanks very much for your kindness in offering to let everyone use your TS. Could you please put a disclaimer in the post letting people know that it isn't moderated by Maple Royals staff and is purely a player-made and player-run Teamspeak server? Thanks! =)

I agree with the whole unofficial thing, but in no way even if it was official would it be related to the game. For example, if someone starts spamming "the N word" on the forum they wouldn't be banned in game.

Cool to see this is going through. I recommend making a few of the more active people on the server mods or able to kick/ban (within reason, and choose wisely of course) so people who cause trouble can just be removed.

I can't say I will be the most active member myself, but I will definitely try and pop in when I have the time! :)

    I volunteer as tr- :>
I mean I don't mind participating in it. God knows how much I've spent in skype calls anyway- and although I really love associating with the people I have on skype <3, it'll be great to get to know other members of Royals better.

    Just my two cents here.
    @Original Poster,
I suggested IRC about four months ago and was willing to dedicate a channel to the network on my IRC server.

Not many people thought it would be useful, and they are probably right.
The chatbox on the forum is probably the best use for it as well as the facebook and teazpeak server.

As much as I love irc, its neither a growing nor dying art right now and it's best not to go into working the forum around getting an irc client embedded.

    About TeamSpeak...

I believe the server is severely unused by MapleRoyals players, sadly. :c

I believe it's used, but underused.
