Duplicate An Honest Post :Game Bugged On me, lost a white scroll and more.

Hi, my name is Gabriel Roy and this is gonna be an Honest Post.
Until now, I have been liking the server alot, I even donated 30euro's to show my appreciation.

From the start, my appreciation has never stopped to lower and lower for this server. Getting told in-game by quite alot of peoples that peoples who host this
server are lazies and are not making a good job at helping the community or in-game service.

Here are the things that made me realise that:
-Seriously, some peoples enjoy playing "NOSTALGIC MAPLE" by questing but most of them aren't working at all. How is it so hard to patch ? I currently studying in IT and I myself have hosted a server and I have never received such a problem when hosting. Out of all the others private server I have tried, you are the only one with broken quests.

-The amount of bug is out of the this world. Did you know that clicking on the camel taxi in the desert from magatia side create an infinite NPC chat box which makes you unable to do anything meanwhile monster are attacking you. Then, you are respawned not in the city but in the same map in a pack of monster so you die again, and again and again until the game decide not to make you spawn on a pack of monsters ?

Or having a ZAK run failling because you know, you have to change your graphics settings during the fight because WHO DOESN'T know that right ? Totally nostalgic.

Yesterday, I was able to obtain a rare white scroll out of a Gachapon. I was very happy (ATM). Then I remember that when using the Spirit Scrolling Skill, the whiteScroll will be taken automaticly since the button is checked at default. I clicked it to disable it but guess what ? The scroll still decided to left my inventory and went in flame. I would've taken a screenshot if I knew that THIS TOO was bugged. Maybe I should've let the button at active so it wouldn't had consumed it ?

Why do I feel like everytime I click something on this server, I should read 200 post of the forums and search if there is bugs related to it ? This is suppose to be Nostalgic Maple, not Russian Roulette Maple.


Now let's talk about this future of this server. Right now, its not going anywhere. Just for the fun 3 days ago, I decided to install "others" popular private servers and to play them for abit. Here are some of the things I have realised

-Alot of people are leaving MapleRoyals to other server.
-People on other server have bad comments about this server
-Others server have better services.
-Not even 2 weeks ago, you were the TOP on GTOP100. Now, I don't even think you are at third place !


This server is dying and we all know that but I love this community. This is not a application for a job. This is about my bug. I would like to have my WhiteScroll back. I have asked quite a lot of players and most of them have already experienced the bug of the whitescroll. Do you know what I have heard of them ? Here is what they would most of the time say :

"I'm sad for you cause the admins will do nothing to help you or they will simply refuse"

I would like to know why I am getting this answer coming from players around level 150-200 ? Those are the legends of the server yet they seem to be threated like shit.

This message was not made from my perspective, it was a message from the peoples of this server. If you need help with the modding, changing source, fixing bug. Why don't you just ask your community, I have found countless of IT guys playing the server and most of them could fix broken quests, bugs and other stability issues. Just ask us, I'll be the first to say yes with a smile

The things that glare at me the most from this post, in order:
1) There's a difference between "being lazy" and "having a life outside of Mapleroyals so that they can afford to volunteer their time for you."
2) They are working to patch all of these bugs. It's why they're building a new source. Which would be going along faster if anyone bug-tested the Beta instead of complaining about bugs in the current source.
3) Whether we're top on GTOP100 really shouldn't matter - nor is it as though we started there in the first place.
4) I gather that you're mostly assuming that people are leaving from lower player numbers? Although this could be explained by other reasons too (school going into crunch time, end of the holidays in general, etc. etc.)
5) We say "we're sad for you" because we're empathetic about your loss, but recognize that nothing can be done. We are neither threatened, nor are we threatening you.

And most importantly,
6) I would prefer if you didn't imply that everyone on this server, who currently isn't on staff, holds these views alongside you.

Edit: woops, forgot to add a little warning - some of this could be construed as an advertisement for other private servers, which goes against the T&C you agreed to. You didn't mention any specific names so you're probably fine - but seriously be careful about that stuff if you wanna stick around.

 

I knew you would say those. They are logical at 100% and I agree with them.

1) GM are supposed to be "listeners" they are suppose to hear you and try to fix your problem. Its not like I made a mistake not clicking on the button. It was a bug and that should be understood. It happen to alot of players randomly.

2) They are working to patch all of these bug ? The new source was announced nearly a year ago and its slowly becoming a myth on the server as if it really will happen.

3 and 4) GTOP100 is actually quite exact on the number and I often go check to see and the average is going down. Yeah you have a point with the holiday but the average don't lie, Others server should be going down too and our rank shouldn't be moving.

5) Honestly, having the whitescrolls back is the least of my problem. But AT LEAST fix the BUG, Its nearly game breaking, It could be fix in a mere time. It break people mood, makes people leave the server. Its a major bug that should be fixed not only on the source but on this server TOO and fast.

 

1) The GM's listen all the time. There's a limit to what they are able to accomplish and if you can't prove something went down as it did then their hands are tied - there's no way for them to know you aren't trying to scam them. This isn't a fault of the GM's and blaming them will not help you.

2)It's not a myth - the new source will come out when it's ready. If you want it to happen faster, download the Beta and help them bugtest- that's literally the main thing holding them back.

3/4) We were 1st for *maybe* a month after Extalia (1st by a LONG shot for a long time) shut down and people wanted to try us out since we were second. We're very different from Extalia. Not everyone who comes here from there would be interested, and this can only become more apparent as time goes on.

5) Not every bug is easy to fix and again this is why they are making a new source.

 

I feel like you don't know what the new source is: the new source is a super awesome, made from scratch, brand new source code that's supposed to be virtually bug and lag free. The reason why it's taking so long is because people would rather complain about bugs and lag than do the only thing in their power to get rid of the bugs and lag. In other words, test the beta! If you don't do the only think in your power to help you have absolutely no reason to complain. I find it ridiculous that people feel entitled to bitch and whine about bugs or instability when they have it in their power to do something about it but refuse.

That entitlement isn't confined to whining about bugs either, people feel entitled to having instant GM responses to every tiny demand, even if they can easily find the solution on their own. GMs are unpaid volunteers who have lives outside of Royals. They have work, school, families, social lives, etc. They can't be on 24/7 to answer every concern that pops up instantaneously, and that's what people seem to expect. I constantly see people in the Shoutbox wondering why they haven't had a response after an hour. Well, there are many more people who also need help who have been waiting much longer, wait your turn. That's not to say that there aren't issues, the GMs have an immense responsibility and are surely understaffed, but it's hard to find trustworthy GMs because of the power and responsibility they have.

On a slightly unrelated note, people really need to learn how to use the forums and search function. Nearly every time I see someone ask a question in the Shoutbox I take the liberty to do a quick search myself, to see if the answer is there, and nearly every time the answer is in the top few threads in the search. Again, people feel entitled to getting fast answers with minimal effort on their part instead of trying to figure things out themselves, which, in the end, would be easier. Just today I saw someone ask about CPQ in the Shoutbox, so I decided to search for "CPQ" and guess what? The first thread answered their question. Instead of answering I post a link to a gif of me searching and clicking the link and maybe 15 minutes later they asked the same question. They didn't even bother clicking the link! It really doesn't take long to use the search bar.

The bugs you specifically mentioned, I remember being told to GFX in GMS to avoid any potential DC issues. That's pretty nostalgic to me. Not to mention that because we're using such an old client it's not very compatible with modern hardware, so naturally there will be unavoidable issues. This is why Windows XP runs Royals so well, it's old as well. As for the WS glitch, the admins have been unable to replicate it or find the cause in the code, thus, they cannot fix it. Fixing bugs is not that easy.

If you really want to help the server live up to it's potential, test the beta. Currently there is only one person that regularly tests it, at this rate it won't come out until next year.

 

I have no idea what any of this has to do with you losing a white scroll.
Post in character issues, there is no need to make duplicate bug reports.

If you are lacking evidence to support that not much can be done since the white scroll box is client sided and not controlled by the server, which also means it sounds very strange it would happen at all.
