As the U.S election is slowly coming to a close, what are your thoughts about the candidates so far? So far for the republican side, Trump seems to be gaining more and more supporters each day. For the Democratic side, Clinton has the overwhelming amount of votes. Lets say Trump does catch up to Clinton, RIP America. Thoughts on this years presidential candidates? Feel free to post whatever thoughts you have about the candidates so far! Btw, this years USA presidential election is on November 8,2016. Vote people vote! P.S: Even if the candidate that you are choosing is not in the lead, go ahead and vote for the candidate that you would really want to see as the next president! People with the mindset of, "Oh I'm choosing (x) candidate because he/she is in the lead." (<~ When I heard people tell me this, this blew my mind off.) This is how we let those that are leading stay in lead. Even if you're candidate is not leading right now, who knows? A lot can happen in couple months. Now enough of me ranting on telling yall to vote and let's get back on topic! Spoiler: Some Interesting Videos
I'm actually quite worried. Trump seems to be gaining more and more votes compared to the other republican candidates as time goes by. Just last week, I recall him winning the votes from Hawaii and Michigan by a large amount. Trump running for the U.S presidential election seems like a joke to me. Well those are my thoughts at least. c:
Let's make sure that this discussion stays civilized. Remember that everyone has their own opinions and are entitled to theirs just as much as you are to yours. Just a fair warning in advance that if this thread gets out of hand, it will be locked and warnings will be given out
Trump isn't going to win. It's more of a Bernie/Clinton race right now. I'm a huge Bernie supporter and it sucks he's losing atm. However, yesterday's Michigan win was HUGE. He had no chance of winning beforehand, so it just goes to show that it is far too early to count him out. Spoiler
But let's also make sure people don't conflate opinion and fact shall we? I have lots of thoughts, especially as a Political Science major. No matter what you're political leanings, go vote! Even if you don't like "either" candidate running you should still vote! A third party vote is better than no vote.
I'm actually a Bernie supporter as well! I actually watched that debate and was astonished at how Bernie sanders won. Even with delegate gap between these two candidates, Sanders still shows the strength and support to beat clinton. Looking forward to their Miami debate tn. Wise words my friend. We need people to actually vote even if he/she does not like any of the candidates. People tend to ignore the fact that voting is essential today. We get to express our own opinions by voting on how the government can change!
Hmm, I find that Clinton's experience in the government can help her run for candidate. Unlike Trump, Clinton does have experience in running or at least involvement from the government. Trump on the other hand is just known as a successful entrepreneur. Just cause he became a successful entrepreneur does not mean that its the same with the government. Thoughts anyone? :O
Excellent argument however, I agree with you to a certain extent! People may assume that from her passed experience, she was able to learn more thus leading to, in this case, a better leader. (Like the quote, "practice makes perfect.") If you look at the past presidents for the U.S, many of the candidates had some sort of experience or already served as the past president before. Just listing out some examples: -Many VPs eventually became the president -Many past Presidents eventually served two terms. -Many of the candidates before served in the U.S. Representatives -etc....
Have you seen footage of Trump rallies? Or read about people's experiences there? Makes it hard to believe this is the case.
No vote is a vote for Trump! Vote for Bernie! Anything about Donald Trump just makes me laugh. I get that people that he tells the truth and tells it like people want to hear it, but somethings just need to be kept in. All he does is threaten to sue (and not go through with it), pisses all over Rosie O'Donnell, and laugh at any skin colour that isn't orange. If you haven't seen, Jimmy Fallon does a pretty good parody of Trump and of course, John Oliver does too.
Actually regarding Trump vs Democrat, in simulation polls he does the worst among Republicans against both Clinton and Bernie, losing in both scenarios. Kasich does the best, beating both. Also the lack of experience is part of why Trump's so popular, the Right Populist movement is not only anti-establishment but also believes in the corruptness of all politicians (a difference from the Right and Left populists since Bernie is a career politician). Trump's lack of experience won't hurt him, it's actually part of what has propelled him so far. Everyone like's to bash Trump a lot, myself included, but there are a few things he does very well, which is why his campaign has been so successful. Interestingly, he polls best among low educated (obviously) moderate Republicans and Democrats who identify as Republicans. He's not quite as far Right as many believe. Also, I'd encourage people to take this quiz, it's very illuminating. http://www.isidewith.com/ Edit: I think the last time I took it my strongest match was 65%, which should tell you something about my political views lol.
I took the quiz last week and got a 93% match with Bernie lol. And in regards to Trump bringing up the scandals that Clinton may have been a part of, the same could roughly apply to Trump. He has had many failures with businesses and has told just as many lies as Clinton. If it comes down to those two, I'm afraid we all lose in the end. I just can't trust either of them with that much power like I would with Bernie.
Exactly! For ex, look at Trump University. It's a joke. It was a scam that took thousands of dollars from the investors. If I recall, thousands of people literally got scammed by Trump and his partners.. Now for Clintons case, it seems as if she's in an iffy situation right now. I normally refrain from participating in discussions about politics because politics these days tend to bore and disgust me however, I absolutely hate what this election has done to this country. Maybe the passage of time has dimmed my memory of what the 2008 and 2012 elections were like, but I do not remember it being this ridiculous. I mean Jesus what a shitshow this election has become. Anyways, although I don't want Trump to win, something tells me he might just be our next president. I live in New York and while it may just be the area I live in, there are a lot of Trump supporters here which surprises me because New York is a very liberal state. I didn't vote in the last election, but you can bet your ass I'm going to be voting in this one. On a side note: Happy to see Bernie supporters here.
