https://royals.ms/forum/threads/tanami-being-on-a-rope.59248/ https://royals.ms/forum/threads/realman002-being-on-a-rope.59184/ It's pretty obvious that this guy is only reporting people because he can, not because they're actually bothering him. (after all, these reports are being made by the same "genius" who reported John for GM abuse https://royals.ms/forum/threads/johns-gm-abuse.58858/) Is this honestly what this server has become? A place where petty reports (and the petty people who make them) succeed? The 'rule' that if the owner of a map says you need to leave, even if you're literally doing nothing, you have to do so, is riduculous. There's nothing wrong with waiting in a map till the person who is currently using it is done with said map. That's how the game SHOULD work. The way the system works now forces people to constantly change channel in the hope of eventually finding an empty map. Finding a skele map (or any other crowded grinding map) has basically become a game of chance. There is NOTHING wrong with waiting in a map until someone is finished with it, unless you are disturbing the person who is grinding there.
Imo, there's nothing wrong to afk, or sit in a map as long as I'm not ksing or spamming random stuff via chat.
I agree with that, but I feel that in this situation the person was removed from the map because he was asking the map owner to change channel? Rather than being quiet and waiting until the map was free for them to take?
The Realman002 case was dealt with ingame, I didn't force him out of the map I just asked him if he could leave and he left.
Actually I couldn't agree more with you, his reports are quite petty. It even bothered him that he stayed in the map and didn't KS him. I mean, how crazy is that? a random person hanging on a rope in a game shouldn't cause you this much grief.
Thank you workteam for voicing a concern ive also had recently. Over the last few weeks we've had a large influx of petty revenge reports like this and those players complaining about the server or the gms who manage it. Several players have been banned for harassment or ks and have decided to bring their salt into not only the shoutbox but in revenge reporting players for the most mundane things. Im looking at 2 people specifically who early last week spent the better part of 2 days talking some mad shit in shoutbox about players, gms and the server. making stupid bogus threads, reports and ban appeals trying to excuse their behavior. They appealed and lost. Anything more from them outside the scope of their ban appeal should just add to the length of the ban or begin a new series of punishments in my opinion. Maybe something like not being able to create or respond to threads or being muted in the shoutbox. That way their temper tantrum doesnt waste staff time or get other players upset over the way they act.
I was thinking the same thing. Staff go to all the trouble of changing the way we report people KSing only to encourage petty reports of people standing on someones map? It's ridiculous.
I have no idea how we encouraged petty reports by making the rules more strict to try to ensure there were LESS petty reports...
Something like banning people who make petty reports since it can be seen as a threat which in turn can be seen as harrassment? Ofc not to ban all people whose report abuse get denied but only if there are clear examples like: "Leave my channel because you are sitting here without touching any mob / drop which makes me nervous" "I'm going to make sure you got banned because you did xxx while you are actually innocent"
And as far as I'm aware, that's what we've been doing. The two report abuse claims that brought up this thread were actually denied/taken care of in game. We can't control what everyone decides to post on the forums, but when they do, I believe the staff does a good job in controlling the content and ensuring those who stray from the rules are reminded that they must follow the rules, while at the same time not punishing everyone at the drop of a hat. That is not in any way related to this thread. Threatening someone else is clearly against the rules and why action was taken against you.
I think you misunderstand. The new KS reports were introduced to reduce the amount of petty reports which is great but as GMs are actively reponding and removing people from simply being on a map which in turn sees the same person make the same abuse report a short time later about a different person seems to encourage these types of petty reports.
I agree the staff does a good job. My main point of concern is the amount of authority one has over the map where he/she is grinding. I personally feel like, as long as other people aren't doing anything to hinder the person's grinding (or harrass the owner of the map), they should be allowed to stay on the map. I'd like to think of ~mapowner to symbolise a person's exclusive right to train on a map, aswell as ownership of the loot that is dropped on said map. Not as ownership of the actual map. I didn't make this post to criticise the way staff handle things. I made it simply to point out why I personally feel map ownership is sometimes taken a bit too far.
In the case you refer to, I was actually the GM responding. The person was being a disturbance to others on the map and that's why they asked the person to leave in the first place. The person was no longer welcome on the map and was being asked by the others on the map to leave, at which point they refused. Again, this person wasn't just "simply on the map" and that's why they weer removed from the map. I can't do anything about them taking the mentality of "Well if it happened to me, I'll make sure it happens to others", especially when the situations are different between the cases.
But it is so ridiculous.. Nobody owns the map anyway. But yeah i hope those petty reports get a warning point.
This thread is not about your case, nor is your case in any way relevant to the discussion at hand. So please, stay on topic.
I apologize if my response came off as me criticizing the work the admins and GM's put into the game. If you or anyone else took it that way, I again do apologize. You are all volunteers, doing the work many paid professionals did but doing it better than Nexon employee's could have ever dreamed of doing. i think you all do a great job, given most of you have lives outside of maple. Jobs, Families and other responsibilities. My point was to be critical of the people who think its proper to continue to cause a ruckus around the forums because they couldnt follow a simple rule. I dont believe the forums should be a platform for players who think they were wronged to besmirch other players, the gm's or the integrity of the server itself. Or use it as a place to revenge report, even if you guys instantly shut them down. The fact is, you are stuck having to handle these issues in some way, taking away your guys' valuable time towards handling other more pressing issues.
Wow sad.. Once upon a time back when i used to leech at skele, people would come by and sit to wait for me to finish my leech, they had friends who was waiting there too, we talk and make new friends.. That didnt bother me at all, so was the community back then.. Strangers become friends just by ccing into our channel and a simple chat is all it takes.. We didnt have the privilege of having 12 channels back then and skele was the godliest map for leeching.. The server has become huge with new waves of players flocking in, that makes MR the best v62 PS.. So is that the way u want the nostalgic of mapling to be? By reporting people unnecessarily? What do u gain tho? I been raided on my map before, i dont feel the urge to say "cc pls" or showing mapowner all the time. Not many will share my views, but its been almost 3 years in my time on MR, and im still here enjoying it.. So if u think by doing this, u benefit the most, well i think u might be in the wrong server lol.. People makes the environment, so its up to all of us to decide what environment we want.. Im not pointing fingers at others fault, just voicing out my humble opinion.. Its just a game, make friends and be happy, isnt that the purpose of mapling? You can have all the max mesos or the godliest items, but u still nothing without friends, so just chill and enjoy your time here.. Cheers Buddy
