So I get why it doesn't show what GMs are on the forums or have been on that day, but doesn't it seem kind of counter-intuitive to hide the forum mod's online status? I don't know it just seems like it would make more sense for us to know whether or not the person in charge of running/helping the forums was on the forums or not.
I would also like to hear your explanation as to how it would make more sense. I believe people are entitled to their privacy and should be able to browse the forum without being bugged for help or assistance with something.
Yeah, this kind of bugs me too. It is nice knowing that some staff members are online browsing instead of having to wait to see them post to know that they're active or anything like that. Not to sound like a smart-ass, but aren't you supposed to be used to getting bugged for assistance/help? Plus, it isn't like going out of invisible browsing is going to have your inbox messaging rate skyrocket to like 1000%.
Sorry but I don't think the staff have to be 'working' every single time they visit the forum. Edit: You'd be surprised.
I also can't see why it would be any more important to have me visible online rather than any of the GMs. If you need urgent help in sorting out something, a lot of the time I'm going to have to pass the message onto the GMs anyway, as I can't sort out ingame issues. The way I see it is: if you post on the forum, a member of staff will assist you as soon as they are able to do so. If people spam us with requests for help rather than waiting for us to deal with things in some kind of logical order, it doesn't get things fixed any sooner, it just makes things stressful and chaotic. Having too many people demanding your attention at once isn't a good thing. It's not like we can wave a magic wand and do an insta-fix of most problems - some of them take a lot of time to resolve.
They're volunteers, not paid workers. They aren't expected to answer queries whenever they are on the forum, and they don't need the community trying to "supervise" them.
I would like to have the ability to view the gms' activity via forums because, I ain't a stalker with weird fantasies. ... (tbc) ... Also having private consultations, to make my royal days more secure from those who are going to get me(Gags). *Sobs* [Gm] (>^-^)> <(-3-<) [ Me] ...... #7DayBan #DannyTheDictator
OP was busy with things more important than a Maplestory private server, like uh, midterms perhaps? If you say that privacy is necessary then I'm not entirely sure why not only can you see what members have been online today and who is online right now you can even see what thread they're viewing? Btw this isn't reddit, cool it with your colloquialisms Polly Pissy Pants. Pretty sure none of you actually grasped what I'm trying to say. I'm not trying to get us to have all the privileges that you have about viewing us, just saying that it might be helpful to see if the FORUM MOD is on the FORUMS.
But you had time to respond to plenty of other threads apart from this one that you created yourself, which is why I made that post you are referring to, and you still haven't really answered the question. Regarding your comment on privacy... All users have the choice to choose their privacy settings in their forum control panel, and there are many users which use the invisible mode feature to their benefit for that exact reason. So... why would it be helpful to see if the forum mod is on the forums exactly?
Actually, it wouldn't, because I've usually got about 5 forum tabs, 3 assorted reference tabs, Skype, a file/folder or two, and sometimes the Test Server open on my comp, and me showing up as "online" on the forum wouldn't give you any idea which of these things I was focussing on, nor whether I was actually at the keyboard. If you want to know when I'm around, just look for signs of activity by me on the forum - it's a more reliable guide!
