Hello everyone, I'm new at MapleRoyals. I'm really glad other events than the regular Russian Roulette, Jump Quest, True or False... are being looked into, I like some ideas out there, but I have some questions concerning others. Especially the betrayel part scares me as a newcommer. I'm not so convienced nobody knowing me gives me more chances to actually win, as I might be 'a potential thread', an unknown, for some veteran players. Anyhow, I will not give a full personal opinion on those events. My first event here was the "Race to the GM"event. It's a classic event, yet nice event, and I like the simple idea supporting it. And I would like to share my findings. I felt, even being new (around level 20), I had a fair chance compared to everyone else. This was until mobs were being spawned and I had to put a lot of my needed potions into surviving! Being stunned disables the use of potions, so I also risked dieing out there. I don't think that's what events are for. If I want to die, I'll do it in style . These mobs also ruined the event goal. It's all about taking that little risk walking further than your neighbour. Then throwing yourself into your chair. Without any danger besides the traps in the map. These mobs however gave me (always being hit) no chance to play like this. I'm pretty sure a lot of 'hate' towards this event came because someone (me) won it when half of the participants were dead! They were facing Jr. Neckis, while I (being a little bit ahead) had a clean run to the finish. In general the spawns pretty much killed the event in my opinion. Removing an event idea after just one trial? That's bad science! This single (and first) event is in no way representative on how it would look like once all the details are polished. There should always be numberous trials to gain a global view. Afteral making a private server is a lot of trail, and (a lot more) error.
Thank you for putting the effort into writing this reply. First of all, I'd like to come back to the Betrayal events. You're looking at this from ONE point of view: Most people don't know you, so you CAN stay hidden easily, because no one knows if you're any good... If you play it right. As I said earlier, it's a strategy thing. Secondly, those mobs were called Super Jr. Neckis. They have a 100% hit chance and only deal 10 damage, so... And I might host another one of the Race to the GM events, just different. For example, I won't spawn mobs again.
I completely agree. I think this event is inherently good and well thought out. However, this actually isn't the first time this event was hosted. It's been hosted at least 3-4 times, and from what I've heard, (I only attended twice) it's flopped almost every time. Marty even referred to it as "A TOTAL FAILURE".
As far as I can see, you actually have to say the person you kick the first time in public? So I'm pretty sure people will notice if that happens. But I can't testify for this as I have never been in one of those events. Actually the mobs were doing around 50 damage to me. As I only have 200hp total, it's quite a lot. Also skills like Power Stance and Shadow Shifter give certain classes an advantage (note that these are not low level). Especially combined with the stun it was a lethal combination. edit; I might seem negative, but I'm pleased new events are looked for. I'm only pointing on the things I find bad. It's clearly my own opinion.
Shadow Shifter/Power Stance don't work against Super Jr. Neckis. At least, they're not supposed to. And concerning the edit: I'm glad you share it with us, otherwise we can't improve it, either! Raddy, I did some background searching, you're right, it got hosted before, wasn't very successful back then, either.
Last man standing GM warps people into a certain map, where they spawn monsters. There are different waves, where eavh wave would have higher levled monsters and that. In the end, the last 3 standing ends up winning a price. It should also be in a place with platforms and a ground where players can jump around.
Sort them into groups: Level 1-30 goes to one map. Level 31-50 goes to another map. Level 51-70 goes to another map (again). Level 71-100 goes to another map. Level 100-120 goes to another map. Level 121+ goes to another map. It should be depending on whether you can survive or not, perhaps having monsters with sky-high HP that you need a team to kill. Just like Zakum, have everyone able to kill it, where the drops could be gachapon tickets/cash items. Well, just lifting my suggestions.
Sounds better... Monsters like Snowman, that everyone hits 10 and everyone can't miss... We'll think about this one!
event=Naked Lap Everyone has to take off all armor and run some sort of premade map. This map would have random things flying around/moving that 1-2 hit ko (can't use pots)...first to the end that doesn't die wins. Also if you die no exp is lost.
I can see a few issues with this. Firstly, it's going require the GM(s) checking each individual's equips to make sure they're not cheating by keeping on invisible items like pendants. Secondly, it would need to be divided up by level. And lastly, players wouldn't be on an equal footing because job classes vary in terms of survivability.
It wouldn't sound like a good idea. But I think when you gotta go to any event, you can take the Orbis Boat. Of course there will be Crimson Balrog summoned, but it'll only hit 10-100 damage. The time taken could be ranged from 3-5 minutes. I remember when we had to take the boat to go to Orbis/Ellinia, and when I take it I sit on the boat and chat with other players. So I think adding this can bring back the 'good times'.
Good idea only prob I have is different class skills as a pally I only hit once I can hit multiple mobs but stil only once and say a nl has triple throw thus doing more damage
Thread updated. I have evaluated your findings and added some personal touches to each of the new events. Some will definitely come back as regular event: True / False Hide & Seek (With the map with invisible platforms) Find the GM (Where I hide and you find me) Last Man Standing Loner Reflexes Thank you for helping us test these new events and I hope we can add a little more variety to our spectrum of events!
I have an idea, what about Maple Charades? Where a GM wears equipments, drops items, and performs actions to convey a role, object or abstraction they're enacting? The first players to get it right are picked out and may proceed to the final rounds. I tried this in utter boredom with a friend and it's surprisingly fun, and has much room for complexity. (More fun and complex than RR at least; I hate RR with a burning passion.) E.g., I threw out a bunch of mana potions and wore a beard = Old man and the sea. Another idea would be "I Spy". E.g, the gm would say "I spy something sharp in my use inventory" and the players would have to guess it right to proceeed to the next round. Categories may include items in GM inventories (which would then be a completely blind guess); or objects, icons, background art and basically anything which is ubiquitous on everyone's screens.
Race to the GM, the only reason why people didn't like it was because it was suppose to be strictly Seduce with us sitting on chairs. Instead, GMs spawned mobs and had obstacles which defeats the purpose of "sitting on a chair" to prevent Seduce to be in effect.
Yeah, I was kicked out of an event because well... I moved to the right because uhm... maybe there was no stun? Like please, I haven't been on for 2 weeks, since when did it started? I'm almost 5 months in this server, and I've never seen ANYONE getting kicked because of it. And you know what? It's stupid too. It is the GM's job to control their events, this is not controlling, this is eliminating a person's chances to win an event over nonsense reason. I was checking my fb for 10 seconds and then returned, and as I returned I noticed that we were not stunned, and people were asking questions, so I moved a away a LITTLE bit (Because it was fine in ANY other event that I participated?), I was still at the left side of the map and I didn't pass Las or Amy. Yeah, that gives you the logical legitimacy to kick me. It's not like I'm planing to join more events, but here it is, my quick review of your "New event rules".
No. This is what you don't understand. You were told by the GMs running the events that you were to stay in one spot. You were also warned that anyone who violated that rule would be kicked from the event no questions asked. After two people had already been kicked for not listening to the rules, you decided to walk up to a GM, f3 them, and then expect to get away with it? Sorry, when you play with fire, you're going to get burned.
