Rant on the topic of adding Aran to the ranks of Royals (And why it would be a good change)

TL; DR Aran's are great! But this has been discussed ad nauseam so there's really not much more to discuss. Not sure what you expected.

 

Not true. Aran with SE absolutely blows Hero out of the water at multi-target bosses. IF Aran was to be added they'd either need to be nerfed, or other warrior classes would need to be boosted.

Honestly if you want Aran, that can easily be done by playing the nexon servers. However, I wouldn't mind if the explorer 5 classes get the new revamp especially for shadowers, fp and such. Although I can already see the hate coming in from nl, b and bm bandwagoners. I personally think the new revamps for the original 5 are quite innovative and genius on nexon's part but it was too little too late.

 

You do realize Arans have changed so much since then right? It's a 7-6 years old content.

I was thinking the same thing! Weirdly enough, Evans are the most nostalgic thing in MapleStory for me right now.

They're not. They can be pretty fun to play.

They just don't fit in this server.

 

We all understand what we are having from day one when we entered to this server, we all know that this server offers certain jobs and features whether we like it or not.

Is it fair for players to suggest to the admins of the server to propose a change towards the server, when majority of the players enjoy the game as it is?

And even if a majority of players are supportive for an update like this, you don't come to a server and suggest changes to it, you adapt to it.

As a long time player of Maplestory through the years, I definitely found this post to be interesting and definitely a relatable discussion point concerning a nostalgic server. I started playing before v .6 and go way back to the time around 2004/5. You do bring up some good points.

While I do think class variety is important, I do think it is even more important to remember that this whole original "nostalgia" feeling, for many people, came from the ability for a player to have a unique, customizable journey with several classes that you can build several different ways without getting overly-complicated. The simplicity of the game with the complexity of the customization and individual journey is what makes Maple so special for me, and I believe others as well.

I personally can't endorse the addition of the Aran class, as I was able to witness the decline of Maple and the diminishing of its quality shortly after their arrivals. The 'buccaneer' addition stays true to the original game mantra due to its close relativity to other classes and different, yet still competitive gameplay and Nautilus is only a small side map added to Victoria. This class has new and quirky additions to bring to the game with definite, clear advantages but maintains on par with the rest of the classes and what they have to offer. I believe that the addition of Arans, Evans, and eventually the battle mage and whole other slew of complicated classes that followed led to the game's decline.

Although these characters may seem fun, the automatic nature of the same physical appearance for every character and immediate ease of the class is what started (I believe) to take away the nostalgic feeling of having to work to build the character up, to customize them and work for the rewards and payoffs of a highly advanced 3rd or 4th job character. Obviously the change of Victoria Islands maps and the addition of the sidebar (which you mentioned correctly, were HORRIBLE additions) followed this character by a couple of years. I don't think it would be the WORST thing in the world to add JUST these characters, but I fear that adding them might open doorways for other choices similar to those made in the global version that ended up ruining the game and overcomplicating it.

Like mentioned by others, I don't think we should NEVER consider this. However, the server is still growing and I just don't see need to change it that much, as people are still enjoying the addition of pirates that was put in not too long ago and enjoying the early nostalgia of it. The addition of Arans signified Maple moving in a different direction, and I don't believe we need to head there. Thanks for reading, I appreciate the time and thought that went into this proposition.

 

I had an Aram on the old GMS and I will admit it was fun! And I know classes wont be added to this server which I understand, but Arams were fun and to me personally, on the old GMS for me up to Arams was okay, anything AFTER Arams was shit. I feel my personal Nostalgic experience was up to Arams and I quit after the release of the other classes. BUT this server is Nostalgic to the point of Pirates and will stay that way. I signed up and agreed to this game and agree that it will stay where it is now, even though I do miss Arams and would love to see them again.

 

And it sucks because no pre-bbt server has them (excluding the Korean one)

 

I know right!!! You couldn't play v88 because of the potential system, and you couldn't play v84 because most of the servers who were on that version were just getting updated with GMS so you'd get big bang eventually. It's kinda weird how everyone is stuck on v83 now, just one update away from it!

 

I found Evan's to be a fun addition to the maple world. (OOOOOOOOOOO)
