Is there a way to run Maple Royals in Ubuntu 12.04? I tried it via wine. The program installs but doesn't launch. Any help would be great!
Make your life easier and provision a virtual machine using VirtualBox, which ought to be available in your repositories.
I tried all the methods on ubuntu to get mapleroyals to run, excluding virtual box. I had no luck at all.
I recommend a virtual machine for two reasons: Maple Story isn't a terribly demanding piece of software, meaning it is well suited for a virtual environment (which also brings with it all the benefits of a sandbox) and because the manner in which Wine spews its nonsense all over userland is unacceptable to me.
This solution works brilliantly! I am on Linux Mint 17, which is based on Ubuntu 14.04 so it should work on newer version of Ubuntu as well. The only differences I had were that I did not get to installed mono210, but that doesn't seem to matter. I've had it crash when I enter the map with Dances with Balrogs, but that might be an issue with the server rather than the Linux client. No idea, no problems at all besides that. Awesome! Maplestory on Linux! I have been trying MONTHS to get my Maplestory fix and I've finally found a solution
Can you let us know (if you ever get to that point) how the client acts with Zakum and other bosses that usually cause graphics issues on OS X?
I'm currently a lvl 12 warrior, just installed a few days back I'll update if I get to that point (honestly quite unlikely), or if you'd like I'd be happy to use a test account and test out any bosses you'd like for you.
