So, first, I'd like to say that I admire the ~mapowner command and think that it's doing a very good job.

Although, there's a problem that requires some attention with it, concerning the Lyka map.
I'm hunting Lyka's now and then and almost everytime I do, there are some people who abuse the ~mapowner system by doing as follows:

    1) They attack once in a certain channel to maintain their map dominance.
    2)They change channel.
    3) repeat.

Thus, leading to the next situation:

I was trying to change channels and find Lykas, and finally found one.
I started attacking the Lyka and got it to about 50%-60% HP.
Suddenly, an abuser came to my channel (who currently owns all 14 channels of the Lyka map) and did the ' ~mapowner ' command, taking over my Lyka and profiting from the abusement.

I beg you to find a solution for this matter.
    Thanks in advance!

If you have evidence of him holding multiple Lyka channels, then he's in the wrong.
We have stated multiple times in the past that every player is only allowed to hold 1 boss map at a time.

    Just to clarify:

May I know what evidence is qualified to report a person for abusing? E.g; From my knowledge that the mapowner last for 3mins. If the "person b" didn't attack in the map owned by "person A" and took a screenshot of all those channels that is own by "person A" cause he was just changing channel looking for lyka. Would "person A" get ban?
    Just to clarify:

If Person A logs in the game and would like to kill Lyka, naturally Person A would just browse through all of the channels to see if there is any. For example, Person A found Lyka in channel 1 and killed it. The individual continues to search more to kill by browsing through all 14 channels and then acquires the mapowner title. The individual decides to do another search and then finds a Lyka in channel 3 shortly, but finds Person B there. As a result, Person A would use the command mapowner to see who is entitled to this map; thus, if mapowner says Person A has ownership to the map, who has the right to kill Lyka in channel 3?

    Solution:

    Person A leave the channel.
    Person B leave the channel.

    Just to clarify:

Am I suppose to stay in one channel when I reach oblivion 5 till that channel's lyka is dead?

From my perspective, the time spawn for lyka is kinda short. So there are chances that players will collide and reporting each other would not help or solve anything. Another point: is lyka's map is different from other boss map e.g manon, anego and griffey when it's comes to changing channel and searching the boss.

I don't see this being anyone but person A's map in the first place. Person A is not actively killing another lyka on another channel and holding this channel with another character of his. He was actively looking for lyka through channels, person B would also have to prove that you were currently killing another lyka during the meantime, which if he CC'd to all other channels he would soon find out that there is no other lyka's alive because you have already checked twice, right?

Solution: when you leave a map AND gain ownership of another map your original map should be voided of your map ownership, "but what if you are going to npc and you kill something on a map that isn't being used and you lose your original map" ( obviously change the rate which map ownership is granted, ie. not one single attack per 3mins, make it 10+ actions used on the map to gain the ownership to avoid this). This way if you are actively attacking a lyka on one channel and have a map ownership on another one you just cycled through, that map ownership would drop because it obviously takes more than 10hits to kill lyka :|

Why would you need to go to another channel if you are killing one in the first place? Unless you are doing what this thread is about, holding more than one map.

My understanding of the rule is that one person allowed one boss at a time. So you cannot be killing a Lyka on your attacker and holding another Lyka at the same time on your bishop. But you're just cycling through O5 on one character, killing a mob to check if Lyka will spawn, and ccing from channels 1 to 14 all within 3 minutes so you constantly maintain mapowner on all channels, I don't see how it would be bannable to order someone to leave the map if they summoned Lyka in those 3 minutes while you were away checking other channels. You're in compliance with the rule of one boss per person. And you have mapowner fair and square. I only play bishop, so I don't know how popular Lyka is or how common a problem it is for all channels of a boss map to be under one person's mapowner. But I have insight on another popular boss map: Manon. Recently, Manon competition has been extremely high. But the thing is, I've never seen anyone who will take and maintain every channel's mapowner. I've camped Manon for hours when I'm busy doing other things and I just don't see people coming into my map every 3 minutes, attacking to keep mapowner, and moving on to the next channel. I'm inclined to believe Lyka has a similar situation and you were simply unlucky that the person who had mapowner was checking for Lykas and came back before 3 minutes was up since he left. If someone was actively keeping mapowners with the intent of not letting anyone else get the boss for an extended period of time, then there would be an issue. But I don't see any evidence to say that's occurring.

So let's say I go to O5 right now and I use ~mapowner. Mapowner is Bob. I sit around for 2 minutes and 59 seconds, and right then, Bob comes back and attacks. So there was no way to get mapowner. I wait for 10 minutes, but Bob always comes into the map and attacks before his mapowner expires. How often is Bob at Lyka? Because at Manon, I just don't see Bob ever.

at manon its harder (if not impossible) to keep mapowner of all channels. also lyka is a really good way to get nx and rare chance of chaos scroll. Killing manon you wont make anything close to what you will by killing lykas.

Yes, at manon you have to cc, go in manon map, attack, leave map, hope kentaurus doesn't hit you, then cc again. Whereas in O5 you can just attack and cc.

It's possible, but yes, I agree, it's harder to do. Regardless, my point stands. I don't see people cycling through Manon channels. And doing /find on friends who hunt Lyka a lot, I don't see them cycling through Lyka channels for more than half an hour. And most of the time, they only cc to my channel two or three times. So I'm wondering how prevalent the problem of getting and maintaining Lyka map mapowners is. A few isolated incidents of spawning Lyka in a map when someone else has mapowner and that someone else returns in time to ~mapowner and order you to leave doesn't require a change in the system. This is why I want people who actually hunt Lyka to explain the current state of affairs and whether or not a change should be implemented to correct it.

As a bishop, I can fairly easily keep mapowner on all 14 Manon map channels. I get SI from FM, drop down from the platform you spawn on in Leafre: The Area of Blue Kentaurus, use Gen while standing on the portal and hold up so you enter the Manon map as soon as the Gen animation is over. Then Gen as soon as you enter the Manon map while you're still on the portal, hold up again so you go back outside, press esc, left or right, enter, and repeat. I've done it without SI, but I can jump around and wait a few seconds for Manon to spawn with SI since it makes Gen so much faster. Anyway, this isn't really relevant, but I thought I should clarify that maintaining Manon mapowners isn't hard.

I only occasionally hunt lyka and so far it hasn't been a problem for me. I could see this being a problem though.

In addition to this, maybe eliminate cs drop.

but whats the point in doing it? horntail monopoly? as soon as you ccdc once or find a manon you will lose your mapowner in some maps since theres usually a bunch of people checking for manons. with lyka atleast it used to be only a few people hunting and killing all the lykas, i dont know if its like that now.

HT monopoly has actually been a huge issue recently. People would start squad and leave, or start squad and close registrations. So it stands to reason that HT monopolists would also monopolize Manons. Anyway, the main point is how often a player will spawn a Lyka and the mapowner will return within those 3 minutes since they left and tell the person who spawned the Lyka to leave. How often does that specific scenario happen to you guys?

Does he still charm to the point you have to cc/log out? If so is that when you see people trying to kill lyka, when you've had to cc/log back in

I agree that this is considered as wrong; however, most players do not bring another character to the map when they can easily kill the boss within 30 seconds to a minute.

The spawn time for Lyka is so short, so people not only cycle once through all of the channels, but twice. A method to eliminate this from arising is: when you leave a map AND gain ownership of another map your original map’s ownership should be voided. The question then arises: What happens if you are going to town to NPC and you kill something on another map that is not being used by anyone and lose your ownership on your original map? In this case, one would have to change the rate at which map ownership is granted. For example, making it 10+ actions/hits used on a map in order to gain ownership. This way if you are actively attacking a Lyka on one channel and have a map ownership on another one you just cycled through, that map ownership would drop because it obviously takes more than 10 hits to kill Lyka. If that is granted, my next question is: How do you decide if someone’s mapowner is void from the specific channel when one goes to the FM to grab SE?

Would it solve the problem this way? You have map ownership in ch 1. If you go to another map (e.g. town for npc or fm for buffs), you don't need to worry about losing your map as long as you return within 3min. However, if you go to another channel and gain ownership of any map there, you risk losing map ownership.

30seconds-1min worth of attacking is still more than 10+ actions occured on your current map, meaning that if you have ownership on another channel, that ownership would drop because you are actively reseting your current map ownership on the current map.

Also when going to FM to get SE, why would you void your current map? Who goes to the free market to attack (10+ actions in this instance we are talking about) whilst they are getting SE from a mule. FMing a buff is simply u going to FM, buffing , and leaving back to the map. You dont go to the fm and start attacking while you buff yourself.

    Unfortunately this solution wouldn't work.

The issue isn't people having all the mapowners while they are killing Lyka. The issue is people having all the mapowners when no Lykas have spawned. I imagine that when someone is channel surfing Lyka maps, they cc, attack once, 1 hit a Chief Oblivion Guardian, do ~bosshp, and cc again. When the mapowner ccs and find someone spawned a Lyka, the mapowner can order that person to leave. Increasing the number of hits a player has to do in a map to gain mapowner is an interesting solution since it would slow the Lyka channel surfers down, but changing the entire system this way is problematic for other players. So if two people are competing to get mapowner in a free skele map, whoever can spam attacks the fastest will win. To an extent, this is somewhat true already since it comes down to who will attack first after the old mapowner expires. But the change would definitely give classes able to spam attacks the fastest a monopoly on getting free skele maps.

I was actually thinking about this! I haven't been able to think of any problems with such a system. I strongly support this solution, but I don't know how possible it would be to implement.
