You will need a legitimate Minecraft account to play FTB! If you don't have it, you can't play the server, since that's how FTB works. Hey everyone, Some of you already know this, but there's a special launcher for Minecraft modpacks called FTB Launcher, short for Feed The Beast. There's a whole lot of modpacks in the launcher, and you can add your own. Some are known from YouTube (e.g. direwolf20). I've been playing FTB with my brother and a couple of friends for quite a long time now; and I'm curious to see if we got some Minecraft or even FTB players here on MapleRoyals. We have started a small server again, and would like to see some MapleRoyals players on it, since it offers a great distraction from grinding and MapleRoyals in general when you need a break. For those who don't know; Here's described how to install the FTB launcher and our modpack (FTB Unleashed with some added mods) in a couple of easy steps (with pictures!) Spoiler Short: FTB Unleashed 1.1.7, with EnchantingPlus, Hats & PowerConverters enabled, and the mods in the attached zip-file. Long: 1. Go to the FTB Site, scroll down a bit, and download the right file. EXE for Windows, JAR for Linux / Mac. 2. Place the downloaded file on your desktop (it's your shortcut), and then run it. 3. Don't be to hasty in clicking next, it asks you where to install the game, you will want to change this, by default it's your desktop. 4. Once it's installed, it will launch automatically, now you need to add you minecraft account; Click the dropdown-box shown below, and select 'Create Profile': 5. In the pop-up box just fill in your minecraft info (E-Mail as username if you have merged it into a mojang account), and leave the box 'Profile Name' as is, or change it to whatever you want, then check 'Remember Password' and hit 'Add'. 6. Go to the 'Options' tab of the launcher, and change 'RAM Maximum (MB)' to something between 2 GB and 6 GB, 2 GB should be enough, but more never hurts if your computer has it. Now click on 'Advanced Options' and change 'Additional Java Parameters' to Code: -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:PermSize=256m as shown below: 7. Now go to the 'Modpacks' tab and select 'FTB Unleashed' in the left column of the launcher, make sure to select version 1.1.7 of the pack, select your just made profile and hit launch, as shown below: 8. The game will now start downloading the modpack and then start launching, launching a modpack will take a while, for older computers it might take up to 5mins or so, it will look like the game froze, it probably hasn't just wait (unless it takes longer then 10mins, then shit froze), once the game has loaded succesfully and you are in the minecraft homescreen, close the game. 9. Launch the launcher again, but don't hit 'Launch' yet, click on 'Edit Mod Pack' and in the right column select 'EnchantingPlus-1.15.5', 'Hats-1.3.3' & 'PowerConverters-2.3.1-85' and enable them by clicking '<< Enable' as shown below: 10. Click 'Open Folder' while still in the 'Edit Mod Pack' screen; A folder will open, go to the parent folder called 'minecraft', then move this .ZIP file there and then right click -> extract here, as shown below: 11. Now close the folder, close the 'Edit Mod Pack' screen, and hit 'Launch'. 12. Have fun on MCRoyals! c: The server IP is 84.106.192.198:1337. To get whitelisted simply reply with your minecraft username and Fidelis or myself will add you ASAP. We have set up some ground rules to prevent conflicts: Code: - Please do not steal from the chests or ME Networks of other members. - No griefing. - The so-called "Gentleman Rule" applies - Don't kill/attack someone when he/she doesn't want this or is way weaker than you. - All MapleRoyals server rules apply; this especially means the rules concerning offensive, rude or vulgar behaviour and homophobic or racial slurs. The server is MapleRoyals-exclusive. The Admins are my brother (Fidelis in-game) and myself. If you ever need help on in-game content... There's an FTB wiki online, and my brother and I are always there to help out when needed, we're quite familiar with the game and content (Don't expect us to know every single detail of every of the ~120 mods, though!) Hope to see you there! ~ Marty
Oke, so for people who are familier with mods / modpacks, we have GregTech but a little bit turned down for the newer members and to not make it cause a total headache for those who know it. For people who aren't as familier with modpacks; I suggest starting with the mod called NEI (Not Enough Items), familiarize yourself with it, it will be very usefull for other mods. Then once you know how to use that, start with the mod Tinker's Construct for making tools / weapons and for doubling ore output (1 Iron Ore becomes 2 Iron Ingots); As far as going further into the actual modpack, start with Thermal Expension to familiarize yourself with machines and power networks. Once you know these mods you should have no trouble flowing into others and trying those out. If you go mining before you know what everything is needed for, I suggest just taking it all, it's all usefull in 1 way or another (Except Amber, thats just for Aesthetics). If you need any help you can, like Marty already said, always ask me in-game on Maple, in Minecraft or on the forums here. EDIT: If the slider won't go further then 1GB in step 6, it is because you have 32bit Java; To get 64bit go here and select the 64bit download for your OS and install it, the launcher should automatically detect the best Java installed for Minecraft. However, if the OS you have installed is 32bits, this won't work and you are forced to use only 1GB, this might work for some, it might not. But if you are forced to use only 1GB, read below for slow computers. For slow computer's: For people with somewhat slower computer's, you might want to try Optifine, it improves the render engine and adds multi-core support. You can download it here (Sorry, no hotlinking allowed by the author). To install it, start the launcher, select the modpack and click 'Edit Mod Pack' (Like step 9), but now go to the 'JarMods' tab first, then click 'Open Folder'; Drop the downloaded Optifine zip/jar in this folder (don't extract it). Now, just launch the game, and it's installed. Out-of-the-box people have reported this gives them up to 200% FPS boosts, you might need some settings/options tweaking though, and this might boost your FPS, it might not, but it's worth trying. (I myself get up to 500FPS in bases where without it I get around 50-80). Even if it barely boosts your FPS, it always makes playing more smoothly, even on low FPS, the 'FPS jackering' will be, mostly, gone. ~Sicle
Who knows, if those playing think we configured the game too easy, we can add griefing and more advanced GregTech configs (It's not too hard now, so newer players got a fair chance to discover the main things). I'm actually planning on making a server-wide useable base with machines once I got my own base set up.
Damn i love ftb normal minecraft is so fkin boring now but ftb is awesome...can the server hande a lot tho? i remember that we had to get pretty strong hosting just for few ppl since all the stuff from ftb was pretty heavy on server (that was like year ago tho so it may be much more stable now) username: jamil123456
The server we have should suffice for 15-20 players without a problem, we choose 1.5.x for this specific reason, as 1.6.x is serverheavy for no appearent reason. Anyway, you're whitelisted
That pack is unbalanced as can be x) And too many performance leaks to count But yea, it's a nice pack as well
