Well both require a bit of management while bossing (corsair's boat & DrK's HP to ~30% for berserk). So that shouldn't be a factor there. They both do significant amounts of damage & are usually both sought out as corsairs are one of if not the best DPS class in the game & DrKs have HB.

So it basically comes down to personal preference in your ballpark. Do you want to be a ranged attacker or warrior? Or what is more aesthetically pleasing to you. I don't think you should let it be up to others on what you should play. They are both sick classes & both do fatty deeps, just up to you how you wish to play I suppose.

In terms of your buff mules, if it's possible to make both I would try to do that. If not, then go for the SE mule probably.

Both classes require micromanagement: Corsairs need to disembark from their battleship before taking damage or their DPS is reduced significantly. Dark Knights need to manage their health well otherwise they lose DPS or die.

Dark Knights are much easier to HP wash. It's possible to hit 18.75k health by Lvl. 155 without putting a single point into INT. Wearing decent Int equips as early as possible is enough.

Corsairs need base INT to hp wash if they want 9k health (to HT without dying when there's no HB). Otherwise they need to aim for 5.6k and require on a Dark Knight for every HT.

Dark Knights have better mobbing (they have an easier time training at Oblivion 4 which is the end game training map).

Corsairs have the highest single target DPS (with battleship) and Krex should be easy for them.

DrK is just all around a very good class. Good mobbing, good DPS, cheap to HP wash to 18k, good party buff. They boast solid 1v1 DPS, while not the best, is still strong, however if you can hit more then 1 target on a boss (arms, HT parts, CWK when it comes out), they are the best DPS along with heroes.
Corsair is, along with NL, the best single target DPS in the game. They are expensive to HP wash, and honestly if you don't want to HP wash I don't feel they are worth making since it hurts your endgame bossing. They have godly single target DPS, good mobbing, but depend on these factors on having their boat. If your boat breaks then your single target takes a big hit and even more so with your mobbing.
SI mule is probably better for both classes, as neither of them have any base crit.
If you're not going to heavy HP wash them, go DrK.

in the past sairs have not hp washed more than just enough to not get 1shot by bosses because of the way their ship works with 1/1 dmg it takes away all your hp and leaves you at 1hp, hence if you had 30khp your ship would lose 29.999 hp from 1/1 instead of losing 9k, this could seem like it doesnt matter too much but the quicker your boat dies the less dmg you will be dealing. This also depends on how good you're at dismounting, if you're really good at it having extra hp doesn't matter that much since your ship will not be taking any dmg.

New source will come with skill changes for sairs that will make it viable for corsairs to wash more. I don't think theres much reason to wash the heck out of your corsair either way unless maybe you want to tank a hit from pink bean once that is realesed, if ever. Personally I would probably only wash my sair to 9k hp if i made it now or maybe even 12k hp just to be able to tank a hit from pink bean in the future (with hyperbody).

Hp washing for new source will be the same mechanic as currently. There are plenty of guides and threads on this topic on the forums already.
heres one with a spread sheet that you can play around with and get a hang of how it works > https://royals.ms/forum/threads/hp-washing-spreadsheets.72157/

Pb is not going to be released with new source, it will probably be coming later on after new source is already out. You should still be able to survive pb without hp washing just need to dodge certain attacks.

you need 9.1k hp to survive ht without hb yes.

I don't have a guide on how to hit certain hp with sair, and I dont feel like doing the calculations right now I would suggest that you get a good understanding of how hp washing works there is good guides on the forum. If you have problem understanding or have any questions regarding hp washing you could try to ask for help in one of the hp wash guide threads.
