Hey guys, just wondering does anyone know exactly how the Royals economy works? Like how currency (mesos) is being injected/withdrawn (terms I learnt from basic economics) into the economy?

I've never actually tried to put my head around it because I feel like it's too much effort but somehow I think it has something to do with having scrolls fail and the mesos *disappear* but I think more apparent would be buying pots from the grocer. Then again, the amount of mesos spent (collectively by the entire economy/server) at the grocer is probably peanuts.

How is it that with 8k NX a day per player, godlies and tons of mesos popping from monsters and selling junk gear (15-20m per repot), there is no (apparent) form of inflation.

I'm sure someone here is able to make sense out of it hahaha please do! I'm so keen on finding out why, and I hope others reading this will also gain some insight into the fabulous Royals economy

p/s I tried to search for a thread regarding this but I could not find any

The AP reset market/HP washing/Leechfest 2013-2016 is the main reason royals, a server economy with a high drop rate and rather valuable NPCables, hasn't completely spiral'd out of control.

It's due to casual players constant stream of NX and hardcore players demand for resets. They create a (much needed) market inefficiency. Why? Because the casuals quit, often leaving millions of mesos on their account. The hardcore player than uses that reset. Those mesos he just farmed at skele are sunk.

It could be a lot better, and the actual meso sinks improve it a lot, but it works. One bad thing about an economy that revolves heavily around the sale of resets is that it ends up increasing player inequality regardless of whether those mesos are spent or stored/sunk. Conventional wisdom suggests it would combat inequality.

But it doesn't combat inequality, because it creates two or more separate markets for goods. A crap market, a middle market, and a luxury market.

Perfect real life example of this is welfare. So the nice urban fella gets his welfare check. Does he save up his welfare checks to purchase a house? NO he's near sighted, so he spends what he currently has on booze (leech) and cigarettes (scrolled item with 1 30 and 4 60s succeeded). Cycle repeats infinitely.

If this server ever has a clean slate to work with i'd suggest a few things to keep the market for goods from splitting so definitively without removing any game aspects:
    1. Make acquiring W. ATK and the paths to acquiring W. ATK (mages) expensive both item and meso wise
    2. Have those 'items' be rewarded by level limited activities (PQ's, low level quests, ETC)
ex. Have etc item you can only get from KPQ,LPQ,CPQ,LMPQ,ETC be included in crafting items such as facestompers and high level weapons

The tax from trades and merchants also removes a surprisingly large amount of Mesos from the economy. As an example; merchant tax was added on 17th November 2014 and has so far removed 1.8 Trillion Mesos, so around 2.5 Billion per day.

Being someone who's just started out on this server, having the means the sink your mesos into something helps a lot. That being said, the one major issue I'm having in really wanted to play in royals is the necessity to HP wash and the lengths you have to go to if you want to attempt any of the end game content. It was rather off-putting because I planned on playing a corsair but after looking around, I would need to spend an absurd amount of mesos/time to do so.

There isn't any content that forces you to HP wash, especially not anything that requires massive amount of washing.
It's very beneficial but you can do all current bosses unwashed and with HB.

I would still suggest to use whatever int gear you can since you will want to have that extra MP at later levels.

I started with a sin as a main and while grinding at WS someone once told me that I won't survive and will be a subpar sin cos I'm unfounded.

I'm 144 now and I've been running Zak and krex just fine haha I think hp washing isn't required until 155!

I had no idea you could get those sort of stats, that's pretty amazing. Got any more interesting Royals market stats for someone who enjoys stats? :)
