Very interesting deck, would love to see it in its entirety; never heard of one like it. Why did you quit playing? We just play with whatever we want at home, by the official rules, but without the ban list. I mean; it's rather equally even if both players can use cards like Monster Reborn, as when both players can't use them. Keeps it fun.
I quit playing not because YGO got too expensive, but rather because I just grew tired of it. Power creep probably was one of the reason. I think banlist is required in a competitive setting because otherwise you face too "powerful" cards! Of course, in a normal, casual setting, you would be fine without it. But imagine in a competitive setting where going first will let you use all those "powerful" cards first. That wouldn't be fun!
I agree the banlist is proper for tourneys, but if I play at home we both have the same advantage of not using it, which still makes it a bit equal. I just like the idea of using older cards. I heard loads about power creep though I never kept up with it; I just collect the oldschool cards because I prefer it so much to the newer series. There's loads of sites where you can order things like '50 cards for 5 bucks' and stuff, which I like a lot. And I'll always try to get my entire collection of e.g. LoB and MFC complete. It's so much fun to collect it
Haha yes it was only trap cards. I added penguin soldier later on to mess with people but I did use the three trap monsters. You flipped them and moved them to the monster zone. Helped out. I won most games though until people started using royal degree... no one can use trap cards anymore :|
Haha yea I only ever had like 1 or 2 people use jinzo, but thats one reason I put 2 penguin soldiers in my deck.
Yeah that's a good idea for sure. Right now I have a Dragon Deck with Obelisk the Tormentor. Love to switch things up, had a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon deck prior to this. I'm using 'the True Name' right now which is an amazingly fun card: you declare the next card on your deck and if you called it correctly: special summon a God Card, else destroy the card. It just keeps it fun, rather than focus on winning
Hello! So I started playing the physical card game about 1.5 years ago. Before all of that I was also playing Yugioh online here and there (example platforms are YGOPro/DevPro and Dueling Network) since I was a teen, but never contemplated on getting ACTUAL cards to play against other "RL" people. I quit competitive Yugioh sometime in between because the metagame at the time was really stale for me and have been playing GOAT format in replacement (a format used in 2005). But recently I came back to the competitive scene because of the recent banlist, which gave us a format in which many decks could potentially win. That's pretty much my brief history with the card game itself. I watched the original anime too AND GX. The deck that I am currently playing right now is MASKED Hero! Mainly playing this because they will be getting overpowered support in the next booster set in the form of a card named "Treatoad" called Invasion of Veageance! I also dumped a few s on cardboard jesus #noragrets ps. I am a high-rarity h0r, and I can't play with common rarity as I'm now too fond of shiny cardboard
Whoa a yugioh thread. Played competitively for about 2 years and casually as a kid lol. Stopped around Nekros/tellars etc. Came back when PePe was around and was like.... nope.
Yeah, agree with the nope part. I just play what I like and I'm currently collecting the entire LoB collection. It's a lot of fun hunting for rares to be honest
Yu Gi Oh!!!! I miss this so much man, its my freakin' childhood haha... Good times collecting cards with friends back in the old day!! Even to this day I havent been able to get rid of my 2 decks. One machine deck, one main deck... Loved waking up to YuGiOh, instant positive day despite having to bike to school .... Lost Love
Omg i played yu gi oh in 2003-2006 in early-mid elementary school i loved it and watched it too, such great times, i used to play and trade with my friends in the laundry room and try to believe in the heart of the cards lol. (My friend looked at me like i needed help "i dont believe in the heart of the cards") Egyptian god cards....epic, id be like "is this real?" If i saw someone with one I used to have a single thick deck but after leaving it in my pocket, they were ruined in the laundry, and eventually got way more on ebay, my parents bought them to pleasantly surprise me, i was so glad but looking back maybe i felt shame of being spoiled then. Still have those lying around. I remember i wanted those duel stage things you strapped to your arms, so badly after seeing them on the show then in commercials. I fanned out a bit much there, many simple memories to tell, though i wish i remembered more T.T
Awesome to read I think there's many more stories like yours, as I too have once left my cards in my pocket and send them straight to the washing machine Nice surprise from your parents, though And yeah, I too really wanted the Duel Disc haha, there's still many on eBay but I'm not sure they're still very useful now as I'll probably be the only 18 year old here using one When the Yu-Gi-Oh movie played in theatres here, people who went would get one of the three Sphinx cards (Sphinx Teleia, Theinen the Great Sphinx, Andro Sphinx) and some would get the Pyramid of Light card. Wish I still had the latter. I do have all the god cards and all the sphinxes, but they've been reprinted so often that some versions are hardly worth anything, as with Exodia. Still, I just love having them
Anyone here play Duel Links? It's basically Konami's mobile rendition of the game, but without the power creep and need to decimate your wallet. There's also a ton of nostalgia as most of the card pool and characters are from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series. I've been grinding at the KC Cup for the past few days and it's absurdly competitive (and fun).
I have it. I have no clue how to play it. Yugioh is so complicated now with all these new summon styles. Just give me my Toon Deck so I can direct attack you to death xP
