Looks like fun. I'll play it when it's available to private servers. Fuck Nexon and their greedy minds.
http://orangemushroom.wordpress.com/2014/04/11/maplestory-2-wizard/ oh look, stereotypical classes. is the gameplay that bad to show off?
Stereotypical classes are a good thing for Maple. GMS has gone pretty crazy with unique classes and many of us prefer the classic archetype. Its pretty clear that development hasn't actually begun yet. We haven't even seen a landscape concept image yet.
I partly disagree with this. I agree, because the stereotypical classes were set up and work well. But I partially disagree, because I think the concept Maple had with the unique classes was awesome, it's just that they, in most every respect imaginable, failed execute that concept. The characters (post pirate) were not unique, they were just based on previous characters. If they were truly unique and balanced classes, I think I'd like it a lot. Yeah, it's probably pretty difficult to make a truly unique class given what v.62 MS had already, and I would've settled for a similar skill here and there, but I think we can all agree here that Nexon's attempt was complete shit. Let's all hope Maple2's attempt isn't as pathetic.
N-no thank you. There is nothing wrong with making creative and original classes for an MMORPG. I mean, just look at DFO; 9 characters (M/F Slayer, M/F Fighter, M/F Mage, M Priest, F Thief, F Knight) and over 40 classes, in which all of them have their own roles and play style. And, like you said, MapleStory nowadays clearly has a copy and paste strategy when it comes to new classes/skills. One to four attacks, double jumping, passive skill that buffs HP/MP/ATK, dashing, etc. Just sit there and spam the same stuff while tanking all sorts of attacks. The Maple team is just awful at using their imagination for classes. And even then, when you look at classic, it's not that fun or balanced. Some classes can't even attempt to boss, i.e Arch Mages. Then you have classes like Corsair that have to HP wash out of their asses before grinding/bossing. http://orangemushroom.wordpress.com/2012/02/14/maplestory-2-coming-soon/ Been in development for quite some time. It probably will be. The MMO market is pathetic nowadays.
I mean a lot of it is a matter of personal preference. For me, having 40 class options sounds miserable - they already had issues balancing the original 4 and then 5, let alone 40. Its harder for me to get attached to a game if you're supposed to be starting over with new chars all the time. And if you're just sticking to one, why does having the option of 40 make playing a single class any better? I guess if all the classes are available at start its okay but its pretty frustrating to have a new class released that makes the other obsolete. And just because someone had the idea for making 3d maple years ago doesn't mean it's been in development.
This feels a lot more like Crazy Arcade (also by Nexon) than anything close to Maplestory. Which was a great game btw, but then it stopped being available to play in North America
No thank you :/ This looks worse than Beta Maple (which i'm not saying looked bad.) The beauty of maple is that it is a very simple game, with the complexity in the details and algorithms used.
It's like a down version of Minecraft. The skills look bad. The Tiles look bad. The whole graphics look bad. It doesn't even look like Maple, I'd say they name it "Maplestory 2" only for marketing, not for anything other than that.
