Their flaw was using the most up-to-date patches, breaking Nexon's copyright. Tbh, they had it coming.

It was unfortunate the way things ended - despite it being online for 5 years. Those were stats from just the forum alone - not including the site.
To be fair Nexon still owns everything related to MapleStory, so in theory Royals could be shut down as well. However, this is much more unlikely since we use an older client so there isn't much competition here as say a v170+ server. Also, good luck fighting Nexon for copyright infringement, that's a battle any private server will lose.
