Maybe it's because I'm using parallels? I'm sure that it looks better on Mac client.

Its the same between the two. Could be resolution or graphics quality in game. But the client has the same max graphics between the two.

If you can get it to work, much of the MapleRoyals community will owe you greatly. With that said, if anyone wants to experiment, you can use the Open Beta client to see if you can get it working on macOS as that would be the same client being used for the new source. Kevin, Matt, and myself have spent months trying different configurations and edits and tweaks to try and get the client to load with Wineskin but we had no such luck.

I game on my mac sometimes, and when Im not gaming its an incredibly useful tool for music editing/video editing. I actually prefer the smoothness of mac os vs windows.

Out of curiosity, what's the reasoning for the client no longer being compatible?

I'd be willing to devote time and work towards getting a working client, port, or skin on Mac if it's needed. Or if assistance is needed for the universal client I'd be happy to help with that as well.

If mac users are going to buy windows 7, home premium might be very useless. It only allows addressing a maximum of 4GB of RAM even the 64bit version. Only windows 7 professional and higher support more than 4GB of RAM in the 64 bit versions. But the price difference is there. professional is about £25 on ebay.

Not necessarily. It's not like you're using more than 4GB of RAM on Maple. So unless the Windows VM is being used for other purposes, you could probably get away with 2GB of RAM for a VM to run Windows for Maple only.

I agree with John, however if you do want professional it is available from that same website for the same pretty low price of £14.99. https://softwaregeeks.co.uk/product/windows-7-professional-product-key-label-coa/

so now i have to pay to play a free to play game? if you could just link me to the freaking place i could download the files. i think its very ridiculous to have to go to that extent, but who am i? just a statistic with superfluous intent on playing a game ive loved since i was 7?

You'll only need to pay if you don't want to use the free trial of Windows, which we have linked to in the thread, maybe you missed it?

If you want to get a full version of Windows you'll need to locate that yourself. We will not be linking to pirate copies of Windows anywhere on this forum.

    So:

    But just remember:

Oops, looks like home premium actually supports up to 16GB of RAM. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778(VS.85).aspx
That's okay then but it's still less than the 192GB professional supports.

    Original reply:

Right, but if people are going to dish out actual cash, it makes more sense to direct them to the software that gives them the most bang for the buck. If home premium and professional are the same price, I strongly suggest you replace the link in the main post to professional. There's absolutely no reason why people should purchase a crippled OS, unless of course you're saving the professional liscenses for me! ; ]

    EDIT:

Looks like the windows software being sold on this website is OEM. So it's kind of useless and home premium will be fine. (It will only activate on the hardware you have now, you can't re-install it on a new computer with the liscense you purchase) Maybe if you install it into a VM and use the same VM or same version of the VM on your future computers, maybe the liscense will never expire.

Mac user here. Thanks for the effort anyway :)

Personally I've only used parallels for bossing only (reasons why I don't like parallels have already been listed by many other people here). Now I'll just have to use parallels all the time. But still appreciate the effort you guys put in!
