1. omok is fun 2. omok builds a sense of community and encourages users to have fun with each other 3. omok is a nostalgic part of maplestory 4. omok can make your brain smarter nobody owns omok sets because too difficult and time consuming to create please lower the amount of omok pieces needed to encourage omok thank you
If people love Omok so much then surely they would be willing to spend the time gathering the items to make an Omok Set. Or willing to spend the mesos to buy one of the 976 Omok Sets currently in circulation. I don't think we need to change the amount of pieces required to make a set.
you haven't addressed the 4 points i brought up about why omok should be easier to play. it makes me think you do not care about community engagement or fun also you are making several false assumptions here: 1. love is different from work. just because i love something doesnt mean i love working to make something. i don't love making omok sets. i love playing omok. do you see the dilemma that needs to be resolved? 2. 976 omok sets is a lot? geez i can barely find 1 and i search the entire ch1-2 fm pretty regularly. in the grand scheme of things, it's not just "me" wanting to buy an omok set, but "lots of other people" who wouldn't mind owning and playing omok once in a while, and we all can't just "buy" omok sets when there's barely any in circulation 3. omok is a casual game as much as it is a competitive one, and you are mixing the "casual" crowd with the "competitive" crowd. sure, the competitive crowd might be okay with these restraints on omok, but it's absolutely ridiculous for the casual crowd this is a quality of life change that makes quality of life better for people. why are you against it? You make quality of life changes all the time in the server. For instance: "If people love traveling to Orbis so much then surely they would be willing to spend the time waiting on the boat." you might not "need" to change the amount of pieces, just like you don't "need" to do anything in life (yay nihilism) but this is why nobody plays omok and you're missing out on a lot of fun also i challenge you to an omok duel and if i win you give me an omok set if i lose i donate my next paycheck
Why are omok sets so expensive though? As far as i remember you need 99 pieces of each one so like 99 slimes, 99 mushrooms and a omok table, no? Mushrooms are 200k, slimes 200k, making it 40m. Sets are 200m? oO
I know many people who own omok sets; I own eight. I also know many people who play omok. If you don't want to manually collect the pieces, then as previously mentioned, the Mason the Collector quest has a 3/11 chance in rewarding an omok set and takes a minute if not less to complete. If you don't own a level 60 character(s), then try asking your friends if they would mind doing the quest for you. lol
i mean if you guys aren't threatened at all by another rapidly growing v62 maple private server who has omok tournaments and such, then keep doing what youre doing and not focus on improving the player experience
I understand that you're trying to make a point about omok sets being hard to get on mapleroyals, but not only your point is invalid but you're using wrong arguments. Omoks are available for sale in FM on daily basis, i did owl for them on monday to check the price, and i did owl for them today to check if they dropped as well. There were at least 5 omok sets for sale each time i used an owl. I also didn't want to spend money, as 300m looks a lot for a minigame, so been grinding for omok pieces the last 6 hours. Finished my omok around 30 minutes ago, took me less than a day of grinding to get one. You want it? Go grind pieces, it's not taking as long as you think. You don't want to grind for pieces? Go leech and buy it for 3 hours of leeching. And that thing about MapleRoyals possibly being threatened by another v62 private server. Are you insane? Let's make something clear. MapleRoyals runs for 3 years, the staff is clearly investing a ton of time into it. For a outdated maplestory version, they fixed a ton of things - including a lot of glitches and bugs. The server security is above average, and the community we got there is huge. If you think it's so easy to start a private server, go and do it! I've been through it, you don't just launch random odinms files and run things. There's no other private servers of v62 that posses a threat to mapleroyals, at least at this current moment. And even so, lack of Omoks (which is invalid) won't change a thing.
Arguments why omok should be made easier to get: 1. omok is fun 2. omok builds a sense of community and encourages users to have fun with each other 3. omok is a nostalgic part of maplestory 4. omok can make your brain smarter Arguments why omok should not be made easier to get: 1. just grind for 7 hours with a bishop you don't have to get all the pieces you need, duh 2. buy it for 300mil its so cheap, youre such a casual you clearly don't care about omok arguments against do not invalidate, weaken, defeat, or even address arguments 1-4 in favor of omok if you want omok to be harder to get, i suggest you argue why omok would be destructive, harmful, or counterproductive to the maple community. then maybe we'll finally meet some common ground
I grinded for 1 or 2 hours on my islander yday and got over 100 omok pieces, so if a bishop takes 7 hours he must be doing something wrong I'm sorry to say.
I still do not see why omok is destructive, harmful, or counterproductive to the maple community. Please explain why it might be, so that I can understand why you would not want to make omok easier to obtain for the maple community. Still, I do not believe that you can grind 200 pieces in 2 hours. I shall attempt to grind for pieces again later and return with more information.
First, there's no need to write in such large text. Second, no one said omok is destructive, harmful, or counterproductive, so I don't know what the basis of that assumption is. There's simply no reason to make Omok easier to obtain, that's all that has been said. Please do share your results, that way, if you do not get the pieces as fast as others do, perhaps they can show you what you may not be doing correctly so that you too can get omok pieces at a much faster level as well.
I felt that there is a need to use larger letters, saying my original point since the first post has still not been addressed. All replies have been strawman arguments based on different arguments ("6 hours isnt that long of a grind" and "300mil isn't that expensive"). Obviously, these represent large barriers of entry to what is considered a casual and fun minigame to be enjoyed by the rest of the maple community. The disadvantages have still not been addressed, as you graciously pointed out. Nobody has pointed out any downsides to Omok. If there are downsides, please discuss them. I am arguing that Omok offers benefits. And that adding more omok, we can get more of those benefits. Thus, the need to make Omok easier to obtain is so that the community may enjoy the benefits offered by omok moreso than they currently do. Because, frankly, the omok community is nonexistent compared to how it thrived in other private servers and in GMS as well. Sure, there is never any need to make a product better. The developers, business-owners, and leaders of a company never need to make a change to their business model when it works. Just like I don't need to play maple or I don't need to donate. The concept of need is so antiquated from business that this opens an entirely different philosophical conversation that I'm not trying to explore at the moment. In short, you do not need to make changes to omok, but you should want to make changes. It can only make your product better, if there are no appreciable downsides to increasing omok engagement. You might not feel a need or pressing urgency to change the omok community as it currently stands. I argue that's preposterous. Omok should be exploited, promoted, and utilized to its maximum capacity. Not stifled through time-consuming or large monetary requirements that alienates the casual community. Also, since I have not begun grinding for pieces, why not share your best strategies for grinding? @Dimitri, what map were you on that you were able to grind 100+ pieces in an hour? I would love to hear your thoughts and advice on how to grind omok sets at a reasonable pace.
I bought my set for 40m long ago. If sets go for 300m now, it must be because barely anyone is willing to invest time into grinding the pieces anymore.
Well, like I mentioned I'm a lvl 34 islander (beginner) so I have no abilities other than nimble feet, so my grinding abilities are as minimum as they get. I walk around, whack a pig and then I walk to the next pig and repeat the process of whacking it. I do this for about an hour and obtain between 80 and 120 omok pieces, depending on how lucky and active I was. Since the droprates between Maple Island and the rest of the world aren't any different, a bishop who can kill 15 pigs in a single hit should be able to collect these pieces faster than I can. Spoiler: My islander's omok pieces Before I hit lvl 33 I rarely ever came to pigs because I couldn't 1 hit them, so all of the pig omok pieces are from the last few levels. Until I could 1 hit them, I was mainly whacking snails.
