Formal Appeal: Spoiler IGN: Detox Why do you think you got banned?: Possession of sets of duped crystal ilbis (3) Ban message when attempting to log in: "illegal use of third-party programs" What GM banned you (optional): John So in my first ban appeal (which can be seen here), I denied responsibility to any bannable offenses: This information was false. I should have argued in my original appeal the punishment itself, instead of inviting a permanent ban due to panic and shock on my part. Allow me to explain the situation, along with other offenses: Luke, the known hacker who found and abused the CPQ glitch, told some of my skype friends that he was looking for me in MapleRoyals. I was excited to hear this, as it had been a long time since we last talked. When he found me in game, he showed me all the items he had duped. It was a bad time for me on Royals. An old friend of mine received all of my equipment when I quit the first time. This included my godly claw, facestompers and PGC. When I finally came back to the server, my friend had left, and also disappeared from skype. I told this to Luke, and he said he would give me some godly (duped) equips to help compensate for the loss. I took these equips: (62 att. skanda, cilbis, 10 att. fs and 12 att. PGC) and NEVER USED THEM (with the exception of the cilbis). After receiving these items, I went out for the night and returned the next morning to find that the user with all of my godly equipment was BACK. He returned my equips and then some (thanks Ian), and I immediately destroyed all of the items I had remembered to be duped. Later that week, Luke messaged me on skype asking about my character, and asked if I still have duped items. I then remembered that I had crystal ilbis that were duped, and admitted to being in possession, later to learn that he was recording the conversation. This conversation happened while I was out of the house (via my phone). By the time I was home, I had been permabanned. I should also let you know that a couple days before the incident, I bought 10 white scrolls for 1b, a VERY VERY low price. I bought them from a store created by "Shadow" or an IGN of the sort, who I'm pretty sure was banned a few days before I was. You can check the ID's of the scrolls, but I'm not sure. ---------------------------------------------------------- I'm going to give you a quick synopsis of why I think I should be unbanned, followed by feedback I've received from friends and fellow royalers. I think I should be unbanned because I was not the actual duper. I don't know how, and therefore have never duped in any game or any server. While I did abuse Luke's knowledge to give myself a slight edge on other players (+2 attack for 2400 stars), there is nothing in the T&C that gives a permaban to beneficiaries of duping. Not only did I not directly exploit an error in design, but I also did not do anything that can be called "hacking". ---------------------------------------------------------- Argument 1: (**** = previously banned account) "So what I know of ****'s case is this: Originally he was permabanned for duping because he had a bunch of white scrolls, but he didn't use hacks to dupe. From what I've been told by staff, **** and [another anonymous character] is that **** abused a glitch with Fredrick that allowed him to pull items out multiple times. He ended up making 15 att SCGs and something else this way. But when we went to the staff about it, they talked about it and decided to lower it to a 3 day glitch abuse ban and deleted all the duped items." Source: Anonymous until stated otherwise Argument 2: "After looking into the offence committed by Raddy thorougly, I have found a flaw in the accusation and respective punishment of the accused. To clarify: Raddy has been accused of possessing duplicated Crystal Ilbi Throwing-Stars, which were to be found on his account, Detox. This claim of the MapleRoyals staff has been confirmed by the accused to be legitimate. However, the source of the duplicated items has never been discussed, which plays a big role in the punishment of this offence. Raddy can confirm that the items at hand were duplicated by an acquaintance of his, who exploited a now fixed glitch to duplicate his items. He passed some of these duplicated items to Raddy, who destroyed all of them, except for the Crystal Ilbi Throwing-Stars, which he simply had forgotten. Now, this means that the committed crime here is glitch abuse, which justifies a ban from the game of 3 days, and Raddy, who never committed this actual crime, is guilty by association. This is stated in the Terms & Conditions of MapleRoyals: It states that the first punishment is a 3 day ban, whereas Raddy was banned permanently for hacking, which definitely is a false accusation. He never engaged in any form of hacking or cheating. I therefore am lead to believe his ban is faulty and not justified, and he should be unbanned, since he has very well served his 3 days of punishment. Source: Marty (Linyah) WHAT I PROPOSE YOU DO: Obviously, I feel I should be unbanned, as I've been banned for over a month. Delete the duped sets of Cilbis from my account. Check the ID's on the white scrolls in my storage. If any of them are duped, delete them too. Please listen to everything said here. I feel like there are plenty of compelling arguments here. I am in no way trying to insult the staff or declare them unprofessional. Leave this thread open for at least 1 week. Even if I'm not to be unbanned, that doesn't mean the T&C shouldn't be left unedited.

Raddy, in your original ban appeal, you flat out lied to us and said you bought the cilbis legitimately when you knew that wasn't the case. The other parties involved in this ban had admitted their involvement and did not need to be presented with evidence to admit their guilt. You did. Second, Arguments 1 and 2 we find valid. You make good points, using precedence and interpreting the T&C as you believe it should be interpreted. I do want to point out, however, while you did not directly hack, you DID cheat by obtaining known illegitimate items for the sake of advancing your character's progression. That is cheating, no doubt about it. Third, arguments three four and five should NEVER have even been put into this appeal. Just because players believe the T&C is flawed, doesn't mean it actually is. Additionally, duping IS indeed covered in the T&C as Marty clearly points out in your Argument 2. In the event a rule violation occurs that does not strictly fall under a clause in the T&C, the following portion of the T&C gives authority to the GMs and Admins to not only decide on whether the case is a violation of the T&C, but also to determine the associated punishment: The fact that you brought the idea of nepotism into your appeal is in very poor taste and is in no way beneficial to your appeal. Finally, I would like to bring to your attention this part of the T&C which you must have missed when you agreed to a permanent ban:
Removed arguments 3, 4 and 5. I know I flat out lied the first time, which I claimed in my appeal. It was an unfortunate result of panic and shock, and I'm sorry. I'm also sorry about Fattyfool's argument. For the sake of accuracy, I tried to put each one I was given word-for-word in my appeal. Yes, I have read the part that you think I missed. However, since I pretty much condemned myself the first time, I decided to try again, with a better argument. I would like for you to consider past cases. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that lied about what I did, in which case I apologize for being greedy and unprofessional. However, some past appeals show that beneficiaries of duping on a much greater scale have been saved from a permanent ban. If there's any information I can offer to make you change your mind, please do tell. Also: in Luke's video, where I was found guilty for holding onto and using duped cilbies, there is obvious proof that I have no other duped items (minus the possibility of white scrolls I bought for cheap, as expressed earlier). You quoted this: I know lying about it the first time adds to the severity, but for a duping incident, my in-game gain ("cheating") was much much much smaller than any duping incident I've witnessed.
I'm not usually one to double-post, but I feel like this needs to be brought to your attention: First, from what I understand, my case was under debate for a long period of time before dropped. I know you call this a "redo" of a ban appeal, and the title of this thread agrees, but that isn't what I'm going for at all. This time I am appealing to the permanence of my ban. I'm willing to give you guys any additionally needed information via PM or on this thread. I have no information to add, but if clarity of previous information is needed, I shall provide it. I also feel that I should copy a message I sent to one of your GMs: I know that the staff can exercise authority based on their own judgement as previously stated by Matt, but Rule 19 itself says that someone who takes advantage of glitches and errors is subject to a 3 day ban. I ask that you take a look at your own T&C and make changes where changes are due, perhaps a rule specific to duping/beneficiaries of duping. Since that is not in place at this time, or the time of my ban (approx 3-4 weeks ago), I ask that you exercise rule 19 as is, and lift my ban, since I have served at least 20 days. Once again I offer my most sincere apologies to all who are involved in this decision, and I hope that after this, no trouble of the sort is imposed on you all.

Of course: I had max mesos on Retox, I believe. I think about 2b in storage and probably no more than 400m on hand. On Detox, all of my equips labeled "Detox" are my prime equips: 68 att. Skanda 13 att. PGC 16 att. FS 17 att. Stormcasters 10 luk Dep Star 21 luk bathrobe Zak Helmet with a good amount of Dex 11 luk earrings Also: I have 25 white scrolls. They are kept in my storage since I would always accidentally use them while using Legendary Spirit
Raddy, It looks like your account was remote-hacked (This issue has now been patched). The account which these equips are on is already banned. Other people were also affected by the remote-hack as it involved users with vulnerable usernames and they were returned their items. In your case I am not going to return the items, but I will unban the account now. I may also need you to PM me your IP and MAC address(s) if you cannot log onto the account.
Well, first I need to redownload the game. Also, thanks for unbanning me, but may I ask why I don't receive any of my equipment back? Is that my punishment?
I was initially logging onto your account to remove any equipment and mesos which could have been obtained illegitimately. This is the only way that I (and the other admins) would consider for unbanning the account.
Fair enough. I'll accept that. Is there ANYTHING on my account though? EDIT: I thought it was possible to check the IDs. Don't duped items have different IDs than legitimately obtained items?
Yes there are still some items on the characters, it seems that meso and only the expensive items were taken.
