What do you think what's going to happen with prices? I'm sure they will rise but I don't know if it would be a lot or only a bit. What do you think?
More NX spent on FM merchants and pets, Less NX spent on AP resets, less AP resets in the market, so the demand for AP resets will go up.
The demand will stay the same but the price will go up* Besides that there will be less stores owned by new players, so less low level godly equips and cheap less in demand scrolls going around. someone with 100 bil net worth isnt going to bother selling scrolls worth 500k. The average item in FM will have a higher price and be more for end game players rather than newbies. Combine this with the removal of the FM button (Personally I agree with its removal) and youll have less people window shopping as well. The higher average price and "quality" of items may in turn discourage newbies from sticking to the server, because everything looks massively expensive and the end game players seem to utterly dominate the economy with no low level gear in sight. Pure speculation on my part of course but I do think this combined with the bossing scene revolving around hp washing, leveling being centered around leeching (and both leeching and hp washing being viewed as the only way to go if you want a good character by this servers standards) + forced boat rides on guaranteed empty bosts (or facing a 3 mil meso fine,) might discourage players from sticking around for long, because all of these things seem out of reach for anyone except long term players.
If there is something called a 'mid-game player', I am one of those. I have a bishop. Back in the old source, FM merchants were so affordable that I had 3 of them (in different accounts). I have a merch mule, which sells everything I looted from gachapon and/or godly items. As time went on, I noticed that it is more profitable to sell leech rather than finding a fm spot and setting it up. For me, the only purpose of having a merch is to reduce tax obtained from the buyer (of leech) and to transfer money between accounts. With the new source, I had thought buying a merchant can still be beneficial for tax evasion purposes. However, seeing Acis's post, I was reminded that the FM button was removed. This removed my incentive to purchase a merchant, as it is less convenient for buyers to travel to the FM and pay up, before getting leeched. As you know, there are a lot of bishops out there who does this (tax evasion). This might affect the economy in some way. Just my opinion though, some might not be bothered and still buy merchants for tax evasion.
One of the things I love the most about Maple Royals is the huge number of players' shops. That's just incredible. I have never found any server which has shops on all channels and not just in room 1. When I was a newbie in the server, I went shopping in the FM so damn happily because even with less than 10m I can buy essential and cool stuff for my chars from other players. And window shopping, I just love that! Looking around and see what everyone is having and selling, it's just a valuable experience that even real maple can't provide me. Sadly now with the limited-time merchants and the removal of FM button, shopping experience is going to be less exciting...But really, what's the most important now is Maple Royals goes live again. And it could easily be a week or two....
I sell scrolls worth 500k all the time & I am pretty sure I am well over 100b at this point. Little shit like 500k here & there adds up, I agree w/ everything else you said though.
Selling scrolls worth 500k is obviously the smart thing to do even with a lot of money. A few mil here and there adds up quickly. However a lot of people (and this isn't an insult!!) are in online games are fairly economically illiterate, either that or they just can't be bothered with the effort for such a low amount.
