It would be lying if you knew these problems would take this long, but intentionally stringed us along to keep us from going to another private server. I have no reason to think that's what you're doing, but it's possible, I guess. But how can you not understand that it is wrong to say "The server will be up in 24 hours...then 48 more hours...then 5 hours...then ????? hours, etc."? Maybe you shouldn't have predicted when the server would be ready after the third incorrect estimate, since it was clearly riddled with errors (not saying that's your fault either.) To get our hopes up, then let us down repeatedly can be frustrating, I'm sure you can understand that, and that's really all I'm saying.

Well yes, if you had read our previous posts about the issues at hand, you would've known that literally everything you've just said in this post, has already been addressed before.
And that's the point I'm trying to get across, I have the feeling a lot of people don't take the time to read anything we've said and then proceed to complain blindly.
I understand you're frustrated and you clearly have a reason to be, but to me it seems like you've not really read any of the announcement threads we've spoken in, which is why I asked you the following question:

 

I regularly checked the announcements on the home page for updates. And you made that post on Wednesday 4/01 and since then Matt has made 2 notices (on the 6th and 7th) on the home page with MORE TIME ESTIMATES and they have been wrong again!

You can address how wrong you've been all day long, but if you keep being wrong then I how do you want me to respond? It's been literally 1 week of wrong estimates; you'd think after the third day of miscalculations you'd stop making time estimates but here we are.

 

I get your frustration and I was also pretty frustrated. In the beginning they didn't really clarify what was going on and why they extended the release time but they learned from that. I think it took them 4 days to get the server online so not 1 week like you are claming. If you read all the posts made by the staff you would know that since then the server has crashed/frozen, whatever you wanna call it, and that they are fixing those issues. At this point they notify us about what causes the server to crash and they fix it in a reasonable time so stop hating on them. They are working really hard. If new and unexpected bugs pop up it is not the fault of the staff to give a wrong estimation of the time and date that the server will be up and running. The server has been up now 3 times already and they gave a pretty good estimation those times so in my opinion they are doing a good job.

 

It doesn't matter if the server was online for a few hours before being taken offline again. As of now, it's still offline.

I'm not hating on them for the crashes. They're probably doing an amazing job of dealing with all the bugs. I'm frustrated by the constant incorrect time estimations. Please stop doing that. As I said before: you'd think after a few days of wrong estimates they'd stop giving us estimates.

3 times for a few hours is terrible compared to the 8+ estimates across 7 days.

 

I don't understand what you want them to do? They're giving estimates, and they're called estimates for a reason. Something could go wrong when testing or coding, and if it's not ready to go up it's not going to go up, even if it goes past the estimate. They can't see when issues happen ahead of time, otherwise the estimations would be more on track.

They're trying their best considering the amount of people they have on the team, and if something as small as estimates are off, so what? They're working towards stability as efficiently as possible, and if it's going to take more time, there's nothing we can do but accept it and wait.

 

Actually, "estimates" wouldn't be the right word. Matt clearly says in the notices that "the server check will last 24 hours." That is not an estimate. Then it was "...48 hours!....now 5 hours!...So by approximately 02:30 GMT at the latest. [directly from New Source Update #2], ect." I don't care that there are bugs; that is completely understandable. This isn't about the bugs holy shit why is this so hard for some of you to understand???????

 

Okay, clearly you would rather us give you no update as to perceived time. Duly noted. Regardless, the majority would rather have some idea when to start heading back to the site to check for more updates, and that's what we are trying to do with the updates I have been posting throughout the day.

 

Thank you for understanding. That was all I was trying to say. I completely understand there are/will be problems and I know you're all working extremely hard to correct it.

 

No one said you did. I'm saying bugs could be part of the reason why the estimates are off. Please use and understand context.

 

I also understood this but I think the majority does want to know when the server will be up. If you don't wanna know then you can just ignore it and stop checking the shoutbox or whatever. I think the estimations help a lot. Some people don't wanna miss it when the server is up so they know when to be online and if more people play when the server is up, even if it is just for half an hour, more bugs will be found more quickly and this will speed up the overall process.

 

What 1 week of no maple does to people is scary
