This whole posts is such good feed back, exactly as I have felt throughout new source. Finally a post that addresses the issue instead of people "white knight" defending the staff. I really hope the GM's take note of this post, its good written, down to earth and right on point.

Personally I don't mind waiting so long for the server to be back to normal. I'm disappointed in how GM's have been interacting with the community. I rather have my question ignored than given a partly half incorrect or misleading answer.

Quality answers are better than "quantity answers". If my questions gets ignored idm, it just goes to show u got other stuff to work on.

my experience with a particular GM has been so bad. On several occasions this GM wasted my time for 20-40min because she/he kept giving me misleading information/incorrect/illogical.
every time i see her/him in chatbox i just keep the question to myself(or wait until someone else finds the bug or simply not care).
What I'm trying to say is that when GM's are giving unprofessional answers and wasting each others time it demotivates a players willing to bug-test and other things to help out the server. (at least in my case)

@Leggo I'd like to see a clear example of where a GM purposely wasted your time, or gave you illogical or misleading information. I admit that I might not have been the most professional 100% of the time, but when I was the only GM in the shoutbox for a while dealing with 20+ people all asking the same thing or all complaining/disrespecting people... Well, I'm not a stone wall. I'm not a statue or a robot. I'm a person, with feelings and emotions and I've recently started to walk away when things get to be too much for me. Should I have done that from the start? Probably, but at the same time people get mad when they're ignored. I have no customer service experience IRL. I was only doing what I thought would help.

We are human, and we do our best. If we're told "Trades will be tested tonight and brought to live server in the morning", we passed it along to members and then it didnt happen. I've started to give vague answers to people and even then people arent happy. I passed along information as I was told it, we're not giving ETAs because we can't really estimate how long something will take.

From what I understand, coding things isnt a linear process. You don't start with one thing and then move to something else, because that first thing can be related to something seemingly unimportant, and it's better to get it all together. I'm not a coder, so I only understand a little bit of the process.

In the end, you're screwed if you do, screwed if you don't. People aren't happy no matter what we do. As a GM, I can't code. I can't make things happen any more than you can. All I can do is suggest that X or Y gets fixed before Z does. All I can do is tell people "Yes, this is being worked on, as of today we're testing this". Sometimes our tests find massive bugs that need to be fixed before it can be brought live. Other times there's no known issues we can see, so its pushed live.

As a GM I'm not part of the developer team. None of us are. The developers are the developer team. We're moderators. And I've been trying to answer shoutbox questions for people to help them out, to ease the fact that people don't know what's going on. I'm trying to find that balance between telling people what we've talked about and what should be getting worked on, what I know, and not hyping people for things or getting their hopes up. If I stop all communication about it, people are still going to constantly ask questions, and might get the idea that -nothing- is being worked on.

This went a little off tangent, sorry. I just wanted to respond to that, because I don't understand that at all.

Well I don't really go around and screen shot convos, there has been multiple times I interacted with you and you gave me misleading answers, even before new source.
But last time it happen I screen-shotted it just because I knew you would ask for evidence someday.

this image is a refrence to this thread https://royals.ms/forum/threads/bye-everyone.88016/

^this ended up in a 30 min discussion where you gave answers about "how you felt about the thread" and your answer were extremely illogical.
Your answer implied that you locked the thread because you couldn't stand the backlash from your post (which kinda seems like mod abuse in a way). Thread was already in "spam section" so I do not see why that was a fair enough reason to lock it.

You kept misleading me telling me stuff like "I should have deleted the thread but people saw it" and "I felt like answering, that's why I did not delete it". (I didn't ask you about your feelings, but that didn't stop you from sharing your "feelings". yeez you kept stating your feelings like it was answers to my questions)
This went on for a long time.

Matt stepped in and gave me a proper answer, he simple said (not word by word) "We do not tend to delete threads, we lock them" (or something like that),
which kinda answered my questions to an extent, but it was enough for me to understand what he was implying.

Now this is where the sad parts comes in. You start to lie and said what Matt said was what you said from the very start, which was a blatant lie. Now this got me real pissed, but at this point a lot of people was mindlessly defending you, thus I didn't want to go into it or even stay in shoutbox anymore.

This is one of many incidents I have encountered with you. I don't really screen shot convo's but that one was the last interaction I had with you. There have been other incidents where misleading/illogical information was also given. I'm not saying a GM "purposely" misinformed me, but giving unprofessional answers is a pain to be in the receiving end off. I could write an essay about a lot of incidents where I have been given unprofessional and borderline incorrect answers from a GM.

Here's the problem, A LOT of trolls are in shoutbox yet I see them consistently being successful on trolling you, which is alarming. Giving attention to everyone in shotbox is a bad idea, you should focus on helping out people you know you have the knowledge to help. Yet you keep giving attention to trolls/toxic people, which puts you in a bad mood, this is your own fault please don't use it as an excuse.
There have been (multiple) times where I asked about certain bugs in Shout box where someone had trolled you and put you in a bad mood and you were acting impolite towards me, even tho I was just trying to help.

I have seen you say that you had 15 years of experience moderating different forums, not sure you were joking or not but if its true you'r very unprofessional for the amount of time you have been forum moderating.

    Either way

this post is WAY better than mine, please take notes from this one.
My posts are more of what I personally experienced but that post does a better job addressing the issue.

Locking this thread since it has deviated from the original post a long time ago.

As for communication between staff and the rest of the community, I think I speak for all of staff when I say that it's something we're striving to improve.
If you have further comments/thoughts/opinions regarding the communication between staff and the community, which I sincerely hope, please post them in the Feedback section. It's very much appreciated.
