Hello everyone. I checked out the guides on HP washing and many things still confuse me. First and foremost, I intend to create a new NL and wash it to 13K HP and I would like to get to this goal by level 130, even a little lower if possible (120-130 around there).

I also have some INT equips such as a 19-int bandana, 17-int robe, 6-int wand, 8-int cape, etc. I know I need to a lot of base INT, but the things that confuses me in these guides ('HP washing for new players' by Gossamer) are the guidelines that state that "optimal base INT shouldn't go past 140 INT for thieves" I assume this is for for reaching 9000 HP by level 155, but I'm not sure because it's not directly stated. This does not apply to me anyway since my goals are different. Another thing I don't quite understated is MP washing, do I personally need to do this to meet my goals? It stated somewhere that this saves money but I also hear the opposite that this is way more expensive, I would like to know which is it. I would of course like to save as much money possible doing this.

I would like to calculate my needs but I do not know which formulas to use. I straight up don't understand the formulas and how to work them, and my math is atrocious. Can someone please point me in the right direction of calculating the values for my goals?

Here's suricate's hp washing calculator you can use to evaluate hp washing:
    http://royalshpwash.synergize.co/hp-washing.html

Before i enter the debacle on how and why mp washing is needed, let's first clear up the understanding on how much total INT you require for your level goal with 13k hp, using suricate's calc.

These are the data from the calculator:
    • A total of 425 hp washes is estimated.
    • 5100 mp above minimum is needed by lv 130
    • 4818 mp required to be gained by total INT is needed by lv 130
    • 490 total INT is required by lv 30, all the way till lv 130.
As you can see, everything is managable except for the 4th point. How do you get 490 total int by lv 30? Assuming you added all your stats into INT, you wouldn't make the goal either.

Hence, your only option is to mp wash.

    MP Washing
I'll assume you know the rundown on what it is and why it works.
    Let's do the calcs then.

Assuming in the scenario you had 120 base int, all the way till lv 130.

First of all, before we do Mp washing, we need to estimate out the extra Mp you would get from the base int by levelling normally until lv 130.

lv 130 - lv 30 = 100 levels (since we are calculating from lv30 onwards)
50 +130 = 180 (total int, this includes your 50 int equips, assuming all is wearable by lv30)
    180 / 10 = 18 (extra mp gained for every level)
    18 x 100 = 1800 (mp extra gained by lv 130)

In essence, we can deduce we would need a bonus of 4818 (mp required to be gained by total INT is needed by lv 130) - 1800 (mp extra gained by lv130) = 3018 mp needed from mp washing.

Now, the calculations for how-to-get-3018-mp from mp washing.

Mp gained from Mp wash formulae = base int / 10
(P/N: It is unclear whether the formulae should be Total Int or Base int, but this calculation will show the lower value, base int. If perchance it is total Int instead, it is cause for celebration as it will be easier to reach your goals)

So, every instance of Mp wash will net you 120/10 = 12 mp per ap reset.
Every level up you get 5 stats. This means you can wash 5 tries per level. 5 x 12 = 60
mp gained due to mp washing.
10 levels of this kind of washing will mean 10 x 60 = 600 mp gained.

    3018 / 600 = 5.03 times of this kind of washing.
    5.03 x 10 = 50.3 total levels you need to wash.
Since there is no such thing as 50.3 total levels you need to wash, you round it up to 51 total levels you need to wash.

    Summary:

    • to get 3018 mp needed through mp washing, you will need to wash mp for 51 levels.
    • 51 levels of mp washing costs 51 x 5 = 255 ap resets assuming freshly washed from level up gain
    • ap resets for hp washing = 425
    • ap resets for mp washing = 255
    • ap resets to reset out 120 base int = 116
    • total ap resets required: 425 + 255 + 116 = 796
    • Cost of 796 apr -> 7.96 b mesos, assuming you bought 10m each.

Thank you so much. I have been told the calculations for mp gained are from base INT, not total.

One question though, wouldn't it be better to have my base INT much higher than 120? Why did you pick the value of 120 specifically?

i based it off this, no particular reason why:
Of course, you can have your int way higher to achieve an easier goal...

Is there some sort of formula I can use to get a optimal base INT for my goals? I assume the costs are going to be higher with a higher base int, am I right?

no, there isn't such a formula. what exists is the user's requirements, and we can back count from there. (there might be one but need extensive calc on tt)
with a higher base int, the cost to reset it will be higher, but it will allow one to wash more hp

using this guide I got an optimal base INT of 210. If I can get your feedback is this the best way of meeting my goals? again thank you so much for your help.
Also when calculating the total INT needed, I keep getting a value that is something like 45, that seems way too low. I just don't know what values to use quite honestly.

That post had incorrect calculations. This is what that post implied.

    Here's the correct edit:

Okay I see, I made the same mistake as the bowmaster calculations. What i'm trying to figure out is the optimal base INT I need to invest in to meet my goal of 13k HP, i'm assuming "optimal base INT" means biggest bang for buck.

    The guide I linked states:

    Subtract INT Equip Gains:
    EquipINT/10 * Level = EquipMPGains
    TotalMPneeded - EquipMPGains = MPneeded

I don't know what value to use for 'LEVEL'

    and:

    OptimalINT Formula:
    OptimalINT = [ 10sqrt(MPneeded/11) ] + 10
    or + 50 for Pirates
using this formula I got a value of 210 base INT for my goals. I feel though that I am most likely calculating something wrong.

the level part of this equation is referring to the level range which your character levelled with those equips.
e.g. lv 30 - lv 130 wearing those int equips, hence level will be 100

Renaming the formula above for easy-understanding, it would be:

Finding out how much mp you gained from wearing int equips from Lv XX to XX:
Total int from Int Equips / 10 * Level Range = total Mp gained from wearing all those Int Equips
(Total MP required for washing) - (total Mp gained from wearing all those Int Equips) = Remaining Mp needed to mp wash

    working out the formula,
it'll be same as the first post i placed on calculating the mp needed.
    using the optimal int formula then;
ans = 175.6 ; rounded up to 180 since int gain is only by factor of 10; (e.g 170 int gives 17 mp, 175 int gives 17 mp, 180 int gives 18 mp)

Now to double check the optimal int formula if it is accurate or not; we backtrack using 180 base int.

Mp gained from Mp wash formula = base int / 10

So, every instance of Mp wash will net you 180/10 = 18 mp per ap reset.
Every level up you get 5 stats. This means you can wash 5 tries per level. 5 x 18 = 90 mp gained due to mp washing.
10 levels of this kind of washing will mean 10 x 90 = 900 mp gained.

    3018 / 900 = 3.353 times of this kind of washing.
    3.353 x 10 = 33.53 total levels you need to wash.
Since there is no such thing as 33.53 total levels you need to wash, you round it up to 34 total levels you need to wash.

The difference of mesos needed to spend btwn this and my first post is: 7.96 b - 7.71 b = 0.25 b (or 250m)

You have to factor in that your character may be weaker since the base int goes from 120 to 180. (60 difference in primary stat that could be optimized for damage)

thank you so so much. one LAST question, something that i'm still confused about, the optimal INT formula is for base INT only right, it does not include equip INT?

Not necessarily, but in this context it is being used for base int.

The basis of finding the optimal int is because you want to find out the INT necessary to wash mp. And washing mp, uses base(?) or total(?) int. (unconfirmed)

I thought you mentioned that mp washing only comprises of base int? Anyway, in the formula, base int is used.

Note: i haven't ran down gossamer's hp washing thread to check whether this optimal int formula is accurate or not. I assumed it is correct.

I checked Gossamer's guide one more time and he states

"It just so happens that when you add LevelUpAP into your MP stat, your raw INT is factored into the MPGain. (+10 Raw INT = +1MP). And it is not factored into the amount you lose when you use an AP Reset to subtract from your MP stat. So basically, if you have 100 Raw INT on your character (Equips do not count!!), then when you add a fresh LevelUpAP into MP, you will gain ~20MP, and then lose 12MP when you use an AP Reset to reset that MP point back into your damage stat. That's a gain of 8 MP per AP Reset spent. Because of this phenomenon, you are able to cap your INT at a much lower number, and decrease the number of AP Resets you will need to use to get your INT back to 4."

I don't know any method to disprove this so I will assume it is correct as well. Thank you for all the help you have provided me.

    @Boss

i re-reviewed this since i was bored and found something to be amiss.

earlier, i keyed in 3018 mp is needed, because i already calculated a lv30 pure int sin had a base int of 120.

    Lets redo this:

Total int from Int Equips / 10 * Level Range = total Mp gained from wearing all those Int Equips
(Total MP required for washing) - (total Mp gained from wearing all those Int Equips) = Remaining Mp needed to mp wash

    >>>>

    50 / 10 * 100 = 500 mp gained
    4818 - 500 = 4318 mp needed

Summary so far: 4318 mp is needed to be attained from MP washing.

    Using the optimal INT formula,
OptimalINT = 200.63 int; rounded up to 210

Summary so far: 210 base int is required by lv30, in order to get 4318 mp.

But this will create a paradox, because you cannot get base int of 210 by that level. (120 int only) This would mean that you need to wash more during the level ranges (since you have 100 levels)

Lets do a real, lengthy calculation assuming from the start that...
    • this character is a lv 30 assassin
    • his current hp is 800, and his mp is 500
    • his goal is to hit 13k HP by lv 130
    • he wears a total of 50-int equips upon every level from lv 30 - 130
    • he have 120 base int currently (his current stats is 4 str, 25 dex, 120 int, 4 luk)
    • he will be adding 5 int per level upon levelling up, until he hits a total of 210 base int.
    • he starts washing mp from lv 30 onwards
(Note: this method is done, because i have no idea what is a sin's approx hp/mp at lv48. The better way is to wash onwards from lv48, it will be slightly cheaper too)

What we know: 4318 mp is needed from mp washing.
Our calculations will revolve on that.

    lv30 - 120 base int
    lv32 - 130 base int
    lv34 - 140 base int
    lv36 - 150 base int
    lv38 - 160 base int
    lv40 - 170 base int
    lv42 - 180 base int
    lv44 - 190 base int
    lv46 - 200 base int
lv48 - 210 base int. (This will be the level where he stops adding base int. His stats will be: 4 str, 25 dex, 210 int, 4 luk)

    MP Washing

    lv 31, 32 : 120 / 10 * 5 * 2 =120 mp
    lv 33, 34: 130 / 10 * 5 * 2 =130 mp
    lv 35. 36: 140 / 10 * 5 * 2 =140 mp
    lv 37, 38: 150 / 10 * 5 * 2 =150 mp
    lv 39, 40: 160 / 10 * 5 * 2 =160 mp
    lv 41, 42: 170 / 10 * 5 * 2 =170 mp
    lv 43, 44: 180 / 10 * 5 * 2 =180 mp
    lv 45, 46: 190 / 10 * 5 * 2 =190 mp
    lv 47, 48: 200 / 10 * 5 * 2 =200 mp

all the levels added up to this point: 120+130+140+150+160+170+180+190+200 = 1440 mp

    4318 - 1440 = 2878 mp needed further to hit goal at lv 48.

    lv 49 onwards: 210 / 10 * 5 * (? levels) = 2878 mp.

working this out, the levels required to wash to hit 2878 more mp will be 28 (rounded up).

Note: Hence, we can deduce that the assassin, if starts to wash mp from lv30 onwards, will need to wash mp for a total of 47 levels in order to hit 4318 bonus mp purely from mp wash.

Cost : 47 (total number levels of he washed) * 5 = 235 ap resets assuming freshly washed upon levelling up

    Summary:
    • If that assassin washes mp from lv 30 onwards, by lv 77 he will have 4318 bonus mp attained from washing. With his mp obtained from Int equips, his total will be approx 4818 mp.

This will roughly gives us an estimate that,
    • if he washed mp when he is lv48 with 210 base int,
    • he would take <47 levels to do so,
    • will be lesser than 235 ap resets

    Overall cost
    • ap resets for hp washing = 425
    • ap resets for mp washing = 235 (can be lesser)
    • ap resets to reset out 210 base int = 206
    • total ap resets required: 425 + 235 + 206 = 866
    • Cost of 866 ap r -> 8.66 b mesos, assuming you bought 10m each.

Interpretation: The overall cost will likely to be 8b flat or lesser if you washed mp when your lv48 with base int of 210.

I have nothing more to say than thank you. I tried to calculate it on my own and was going to run it through you because my values didnt match with yours but you beat me to the punch. If i have any more questions may I message you?

Lastly, wouldn't it be the best thing to start mp washing after i acquire 210 base INT? Is there a point to starting earlier?

washing after 210 base int is more ideal because you save cost, but because i cannot get the approx hp/mp of a lv 48 sin, i only can get the rough estimate using data from a lv30 sin's washing

    sure

If it's going to take <47 levels, then that would mean i can start washing around mid 90s, but that only equates to 175 washes approximately. I wouldn't meet my goal of 13k by 130 then would I?

Probably not, it would be around early 13x - early 14x that you would hit your goal

Well that's really no big deal. regarding the "optimal INT formula" OptimalINT = [ 10sqrt(MPneeded/11) ] + 10 do you know what exactly this means? why is it "optimal" and what is it optimizing itself on?

and to get this whole mp washing process clear: after level 48, I add fresh AP to MP, then I use a reset to take point out of mp and into my primary stat, correct?

This formula is used to find out how much base INT you should add, in other to get the remaining MP required for your character.

Total Mp required for washing = Base Int-mp wash gain + Int equips mp gain

yes, that is correct, just do it with the 5 ap gained when you level up.
