I tried to start up maple royals today after several months of not playing, and (not surprisingly) the game wouldn't start. I had seen this issue before, when there was a new version and so I logged in and went to the download page. To my surprise, the link for the "Mac Client Download" was missing! I was wondering if this is a temporary issue or if Maple Royals has stopped supporting Mac/Wineskin environments.
Maple Royals has changed over to V83 now, and unfortunately the v83 client does not work with wineskin/wine, it crashes for an unknown reason. I don't want to get any hopes up, but at the moment no work in the Maple Royals community is being done on a mac client that I am aware of, however that may change in the future. It is recommended that you use a virtual machine like virtualbox or bootcamp to install windows onto your mac. @Ziren has created a guide to help other mac users get up and running on the new Maple Royals Client link provided below https://royals.ms/forum/threads/how-to-use-optimize-virtual-box-and-bootcamp-for-mac-users.88228
I happen to know a lot about Mac Architecture and a fair amount about wine. I would be interested in seeing the documentation, and maybe trying to build a new version.
Slugchan, the mac client is the windows client running under wine. From my experiences trying to get the v83 client running, I have only encountered stack overflow errors when trying to launch the client under mac. I tried to use the wine debug features to track down the issue. I originally thought it was the winsoc dll's, however I did more testing and now I believe that the stack overflow error is caused by the nmcogame.dll and nmconew.dll files, I have spent a fairly large amount of hours attempting to remove those dll's from the client but to no luck so far. (i am not sure if the dll's are required for the game to function correctly) As for documentation a quick google search pulls up the details used to run the old client v63 http://pastebin.com/jGJV8xJm The wine team has voiced their opinion on private servers, and has no intention on helping.
This is very helpful, thank you so much. I will dig some more and see if i can discover anything, thanks for the help~
