So finding a Ghost Ship spot can be hard sometimes, and then you see these people in smega's selling spots.. Come on.. People will just keep the spot until there's a buyer whilst maybe someone waited for an hour for a spot someone that has money can easily buy it. TLR Make selling spots banable.
People shouldn't have to look for an alternative because some money hungry people are hugging a spot only for the purpose of selling it.
They use the map until they find a buyer. This extends their time on staying for mesos purposes. It makes it harder to find a map because others can just wait for a smega and whisper them. While new people who don't have money need to look for worse spot because they can't buy a map.
Although selling a map does indeed sound wrong, I don't think there is a lot we can do about it. If somebody wants to pay to get a training spot then that is entirely up to them. I don't think the GM's want another thing to have to police. Finding a Ghost Ship 2 map is always going to be difficult though. Is there a reason why you cannot find somewhere else to train if there are no free maps? I don't even bother looking for a Ghost Ship 2 map as I know it is likely going to be full so I have just been grinding at Coolie Zombies which has been perfectly fine. There are also a lot of other Ghost Ship maps which you could train on. Ghost Ship 1 is also quite good, Mysterious Path 3 is also good if you have a party. They are not far away from Ghost Ship 2 so you could always go back to check occasionally.
The spawn at the Ludi dungeon has also been buffed, might want to check out that place. It's pretty decent EXP, plus it gives you that nostalgic feeling... Which is intensified by the awesome BGM there.
You guys do realize that this isn't how life works right? Sure this is Mapelstory blah blah but hear me. I can't sell my house without putting it black on white either. Why not? Because I can scam people else wise. That's why it's illegal. Sure it's ''your map'' since that's how these rules go, but I don't think being somewhere first makes it entirely ''your map''. It only gives you the right to take advantage of the monsters, not the place. You're pretty much selling a licence to kill the monsters in your map until you turn inactive or leave. I don't know how you guys see this but there's a reason why this common sense is applied to real life.
I'm not sure how you can compare training on a public map to selling a house. You could probably compare it to something like this though: Say I wanted to go and play football in the park but when I get there, there are other people already playing football. I can either look for another park or bit of grassland to play on (even though it may not be as nice), I could ask how long they are going to be or if I could join in with them. If they did say something like 'oh we are going to be here all day but if you pay us £5 then we will leave'. I sure as hell wouldn't but I presume there will be people that would. I'd just go and find somewhere else to play football.
who the f**k sells a playground spot for 5 pounds, do you hear how stupid that sounds? Also that's not even legal dude
i dont really see the point in making it banable its not like they will stay there for ever if they cant sell the map lol if they just sit there with out killing waiting for some one to buy it you can just take it...and also this would just make more ppl mad and add another rule to already very strick rules on this server -_-
Some players are pretty inventive in finding ways to make money and I respect that. I don't think it should be made illegal. Sure, channel selling is vulnerable to scamming, but admins are doing a great job handling reports on this server. Therefore, printscreening your transaction would mitigate the risk of getting scammed. And if you don't want to spend money on a channel at all, level somewhere else or level outside of prime-time hours. +1 to the dude/dudette who invented this market for their entrepreneurial skills!
Maybe MapleRoyals should charge you for occupying that map to begin with then. aha I wonder how much they'd make
Dang, the struggle must be real. I was at gs2 only a month ago and had no trouble finding a map. I'm noticing himes becoming more busy as well. Skele dungeon here I come.
Map selling is something I hate in GMS. Really disappointed to hear that it is happening here. It just adds another dimension to the existing GS2 drama.
This analogy doesn't apply here since the user doesn't own the map like you would own a house. Nobody owns the maps. The maps are fair game if empty. However, as long as someone is there killing monsters the map is theirs for the amount of time that they're there. What users decide to do with their own training spots is up to them. I really don't see the big deal in it. I just don't see why anyone would pay for a map to begin with. Also, buyer beware. If someone scams you it's on you. We won't do anything about it.
I feel map selling isent right and shouldent be allowed but really its just too much for the gms to deal with. I see all this hype about GS2 lately and i find it so stupid, there are SO many other places to train! I get it that leveling is slow but isent that the reason you all joined this server? For the low rates? I know thats why i did.
No need to be rude man, especially to a GM lol. But I believe Matt was simply providing a more logical/realistic analogy, in comparison to yours. Back to this issue, like other people have suggested there are plenty of other spots to train.
Basically the only way to stop it is to make other maps at the same ish lvl worth it to train at. Matt, you said MP3 is pretty good, but to be fair.. MP3 is pretty bad. The spawn isn't good enough to compete with GS2. If the spawn could be upped with about 30-40% of what it has now, it'd be pretty good. Pretty much on par with GS2. Buying training spots is as much of a problem as buying leech is tbh. Both are quite immoral and go against the spirit of this game, atleast.. that's what I think. Back to the point here, I'm still all for giving good alternative training spots with same ish spawn and exp as some popular maps like GS2. This way the community won't be as much "forced" to train at a certain spot as something simular might be open. Also creates some variation in grinding
I think selling a spot is perfectly fine, even though I'd personally benefit if it was bannable. The fact that it's likely for someone to get scammed is irrelevant - people take responsibility for their actions and if someone gets scammed, the GMs could intervene. If the people selling the spot are killing monsters, it's still their spot. There's no rule as specifying the reason for people killing monsters at a map - such as training, farming items, selling the spot, etc.. Such problems wouldn't arise at all if MapleStory had a smarter mechanism of map ownership where KSing would be impossible. But that's Maple...
